What does "AJ Brown and he and Jalen Hurts" mean?  Does AJ use pronouns?

On another note, I wonder if they had some issues last year that might have contributed to the collapse.

Probably a typo\autocorrect.... I read it as AJ Brown on his and Jalen Hurts relationship.

From '62 until around '78 we were awful. Imagine graduating high school without ever having spent a single day in class with the Eagles being a playoff team. That was me.

Imagine being in a college dorm full of Giants and Jets fans and having to suffer through the slings and arrows of their taunts.  It is why the Giants will forever be for me Public Enemy #1 … way ahead of the Cowboys and way way way ahead of Washington.

It smells like they're thinking about releasing him as a post 6/1 cut.  It's an odd look.  Is he a bad locker room guy or what?  He was hurt last season, but is generally not 'injury prone'.  His productivity is decent, he had 7.5 sacks 2 seasons ago.  I wouldn't think of him as a 'game changing' guy, but certainly a solid contributor?

He probably wants a new contract since he only has a year left on his deal and it's all non guaranteed. He'll be 31 at the end of the season and they signed Daron Payne to a big deal and used a high 2nd in last years draft on DT.

I don't like Nakobe as a player, but losing leaders in the locker room does affect other guys.

He was a good player this year.

I don’t care if the tush push is banned.

It's going to be interesting.   He is 29, won't turn 30 until end of December with two years remaining on his contract. He will likely want an extension at the end of this coming season,  an extension that will begin when he is 31 years old.  So he may give you 4 -5 years max with 3-4 of those years in his 30s.  Do teams give up multiple 1sts and potentially 8-10 years of production for 2 first round players, 5 of which are cost controlled, for 3-5 years of a 30+ DE?

Hopefully a team like the Commanders does it.  I'm praying they give up 2025 1st and 2026 1st or 2nd, and 'ol Josh Harris dishes out an Embiid-esque extention.

For the price of his extension you could probably keep Baun and Williams and not have to trade picks. They don't need him.

I'd sign Young and draft a DE as well over trading for him.

I’ve thought that they are too reliant on it and it’s prevented them from getting more explosive plays on 3rd and short. It’s why one of my favorite plays in the playoffs was the deep shot to AJ out of it against GB even though it was incomplete. I’ve wanted them to do more stuff like that.

You can’t argue against the statistical success of it, but I don’t think their short yardage situations would fall off a cliff if it’s banned. If anything, Barkley probably would have had 20 TDs this year.

I don’t really care I just think you need to ban all team mates from advancing the ball carrier anywhere and I’m not sure they are prepared to do that

That is a very rational and thoughtful approach, but it isn’t an emotional approach.  Almost all of us here in the Blog are well removed from our college years and have enough life experience to have developed some maturity.  Most NFL players are too young and with too little life experience to have developed their own maturity. Some of them are still younger than the age we were when we graduated from college.  Expectations of them acting as your bolded words calls for may be challenging.

By the time the hypothetical situation arises, they will be 4+ years removed from college and will have seen multiple other players come and go.  The maturation process for things like that happens much faster in the NFL than other businesses, because its such a 'normal' part of the process.

They can be upset about it, but they can't let that affect their performance.  When you are being paid what these guys are, you have to learn to cope with that quickly... and overcome it.

On what grounds?

And yes, there are tons of other plays in football where players push and pull like that.  Those happen during the course of action rather than by design, but they absolutely happen.

Interested to see what Lewis Cine provides this year

Same here. If he's healthy, he was a 1st round pick for a reason. Loved his game at UGA.

Yep, too much too soon with the type of injury for someone of his age.

And how are they going to do that?

Myles Garrett trade has the smell of a move that backfires like crazy. Kind of like when the Sixers go after big names and every one of them flops. Howie is doing so well in the draft, can not see him making this kind of move. Has too many holes to fill regarding depth here and the potential loss of starters left and right here. He will sign his own before doing this kind of move.

And I bet he wouldn't do it differently if he had it to do over.

I find it interesting that we see Washington as that much of a threat. If I'm Washington though I go after Baun and a CB in FA plus Garrett.

Not sure what it would take for us to get him.

I just don't see the sense of giving up multiple high draft picks for him, plus the cap hit for his extension will be detrimental to keeping the younger guys who already got us over the Superbowl hump.

If our pass rush had been the glaring issue in a failed 2024 season then you'd consider it, but the pass rush was phenomenal down the stretch in a championship winning team.
