He's in the hunt for Garrett.

Curious if we get insight on QB coach today.

Howie said 'we aren't trading for Myles Garrett and we aren't re-signing Milton Williams so there's no need for anyone on the EMB to discuss anymore'.

Personally, I think they need to mix it up on that play with the QB option. Or Wildcat option or just hand it off to Barkley. They have a great offensive line and it's over done. To do that all the time is risky. I'd do it on the critical plays only. Also preserves Hurts. He's not gonna wanna do that play in a couple of years. Pretty sure.

Agreed. I was so surprised they didn’t run more fakes

Who has been injured? Kelce said he didn't like it but I don't remember any injuries

The only reason Chris Jones got banged up in the Super Bowl is because he lined up horizontal to the line of scrimmage and got taken for a ride.

Mack fetched the following from the Bears:

Raiders acquire 2019 first-round pick, 2019 sixth-round pick, 2020 first-round pick, 2020 third-round pick

I can’t imagine Garrett goes for anything less than a 1st and 2nd, and likely more mid/late round picks.

Mack was 2 years younger and the Bears are idiots.

He stuck around so long that I think he hurt his Hall of Fame resume.

He stayed in too long but he’s no doubt a great and HOFer

By the time the hypothetical situation arises, they will be 4+ years removed from college and will have seen multiple other players come and go.  The maturation process for things like that happens much faster in the NFL than other businesses, because its such a 'normal' part of the process.

They can be upset about it, but they can't let that affect their performance.  When you are being paid what these guys are, you have to learn to cope with that quickly... and overcome it.

I respectfully disagree.  Arguably the maturation process happens much slower in the NFL.  Chris Long (and lots of others) have repeated the refrain that all through their NFL careers the players are getting to play a game … living a fairy tale existence as the perpetual sports stars prom kings.  The book "Is there life after high school” does a good job of looking at how the lives of prom kings and prom queens unfold.

We can close the board now til the draft...or wait til Jalen Hurts next bad game.

Why would he extend a CB who will be 35 who said he's only playing one more year?

It would be a faux extension.

We don’t have to wait that long. We can analyze the inflection in Jalen Hurts voice the next time he’s asked about Kevin Patullo

So, a player who is under contract with a team at any point during the season when that team wins the Super Bowl usually gets a Super Bowl ring, it's up to the team of course. But they usually award that player a ring too, I believe.

So that means that Nick Foles gets his second Super Bowl ring since he signed his 1 day contract during the 2024 Eagles season

Ok, probably won't get one. But he should, just to tweak Carson a little... lol

Howie said he's obsessed with getting linemen and can never have enough of them. Still going to be based on how outlandish these offers are that come in. I hate this, but there's definitely a real possibility that Baun is out. I didn't think there was for the last couple of weeks. The scenario I mentioned earlier is very feasible and very Howie like. And is close to a run it back type scenario minus Baun of course. Don't look at Sweat as irreplaceable. We definitely take a large drop with just Burks, but maybe he is after Campbell and trusts Fangio to utilize him to the maximum. Just like Eagles trust Stout with the right guard position over the last few years.

My guess after hearing Howie is Baun and Becton have to take significant hometown discounts to stay. Think Becton for 10M or under is more possible though. Baun going to 15M is probably a dealbreaker. They also may just rather have optionality and see if Dean comes back to form and I'm sure are monitoring that recovery closely if he's on track or veven ahead right now. Then they weren't going to pay linebackers big money. Not in Howie's world.

That does sound like an interesting read.  Do those dolts honestly think something like that has any relevance from the day after they leave school?

When I finished Grade 4 the school wanted to skip me ahead to Grade 6; my mother intervened and prevented it.  I was mad at her at the time, but it was the best thing she could have done for me.  I'm born in November so I was 5 years old in Grade 1, and so on -- skipping me ahead a year would have put me even further behind my classmates physically (and socially), in some cases more than a year-and-a-half.

There were 6 other kids in class that did get skipped ahead.  I did look, as best I could, at what became of them (LinkedIn, google, etc.).  None of them became captains of industry, so to speak.

He has dummy years through 2029 as is, so it wouldn't do anything for this years cap. The only thing that an extension would do is create a fake year for him to retire Post June 1st in 2026 if that's how the Eagles would want to handle his dead money and if they reach an agreement on a pay cut for him to stay in 2025.

How you gonna retire at 19 years and not get the full two decades.

Let Becton walk, sign Peters to play RG

Berman said the national people and non Philly people he's speaking to at the combine expect Baun to leave. But he suspects that's because the Eagles have a history of not paying LBs and he still expects Baun to be back.

There is a 0.0% chance of them paying Slay $16mm to play in 2025. The only thing would be a deal that cuts his 2025 pay to something like $8mm, then adds a dummy void year to let him retire post June 1 as you alluded to.

Is it mock draft season yet?
