I think all they are doing is stopping have the guys bringing out the chains for measurement to save time. Refs still spot.

I like the chain gang. There really wasn’t any instances of refs screwing it up I can remember. Closest thing was the index card when they couldn’t tell if the tip crossed one time.

You're right.  The ball will be manually spotted.  So the only thing that would be done electronically is the actual first down line.  Well that solves a problem that almost never ever happens.

Yup, this technology is useless if we're still depending on the ref's interpretation.

Me too…doesn’t make any sense

Steelers are only team that makes sense tho it's not a dome

As terrible as the Giants have been, I think they may have more talent on offense than the Steelers.  I don't know if Mara would want to make that deal as much as Schoen may want to save his job with it.

I love dumb sports traditions - the chain game being one of them. But a lot of that nostalgia has been replaced with anger every time one of these shitforbrains wrecks a game.

Hey... I went through an intensive training process.  It took at least 15 seconds or so.  Stand here... move there.

What could go wrong?  How do they do this when some rules say "when any part of the ball passes….”

What are they going to do, gps chip the entire ball?

It probably happened this year but I can't remember either. It's definitely happened within the past few years

The ball will be a computer chip... All games go indoors and we get a dome in every NFL city.   Water and computer chips don't mix.

Based on orientation of the ball when forward momentum is stopped, just add the remaining distance from the chip to exterior of the football.

And who do you like at 32?  Can definitely see you are on it.

I’m expecting South Carolina DT TJ Sanders. I like him a lot. Most mocks have him in the second round somewhere, I think he could sneak into the first. Would be a really good Milton Williams replacement.

The guy I really want is Ole Miss DT Walter Nolan, but it seems like everyone is catching on that he is probably DT2 in this class and I’ve seen people start mocking him in the top 20 and even top 10. If he gets within range of a trade up I’d go get him. I think he could be "the guy” on many defensive lines and playing next to Carter would be a cheat code.

Texas A&M has a bunch of good DL — their DE’s Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart would both be really interesting. They’re both big at around 6’4” 280, though Scourton probably needs to lose weight.

Scourton is super smooth, quick, long arms, a really good 2 way player and is only 20 years old. He’s the better prospect of the two and has a pretty high floor with a lot of upside.

Stewart is like a lab creation at nearly 300 pounds with explosiveness and power. Kind of a boom or bust player. He didn’t have a lot of pass rush production in college but the tools are there to be great and he dominated the senior bowl. I think his floor is a plus run defender who gets you 4 or 5 sacks, but his upside is double digit sacks with great run defense.

Alabama ILB/EDGE Jihaad Campbell would be great as well. Kind of a hybrid ILB and EDGE. Would fit in really well to Fangio’s scheme. He can patrol sideline to sideline, drop into coverage, but also has a lot of pass rush potential. Sort of similar to Jalynx Hunt in this regard but more ILB skills.

Notre Dame CB Benjamin Morrison and East Carolina CB Shavon Revel are two interesting options depending on what happens at corner for us. Both are coming off injury, so that’s a concern. Morrison has decent size, he’s smith but doesn’t have elite explosiveness or top end speed and is excellent in zone coverage. Revel is huge at 6’4” but is freakishly smooth at that size. Good speed at his height as well. Both would have been potential top 10 picks without the injuries, but obviously that’s a risk you’ll have to accept at the bottom of the first.

Marshall DE Mike Green could be in the mix. He’s smaller at 250 pounds. High effort, great bend around the edge and an arsenal of pass rush moves. Has trouble setting the edge, but has a high likelihood of being a double digit sack guy. Also, there are concerns about his off field life/character, so you have to be comfortable with that.

This first round is really tough to evaluate. There aren’t a lot of blue chip players, and I think it’s going to be more about what player profile you’re looking for and what risks you’re willing to take.

Overall, I don’t think we sit at 32. I think you either trade up to get the guy you really like or trade back and just go pure BPA with whoever falls to you.

Who was available at 64? I just think they would have to draft DT/DE in one of the first 2 picks.  I like the Campbell pick.  You get -5 Howies because you drafted 2 LBs.

I don’t remember #64 other than no DL I liked enough to pass up Henderson, who could carry the run game if Saquon went down.

Campbell would also play a lot on the Edge, so he’d provide help there.

Players play Madden and we just watch that. Problem solved.

No. Turn the league over to Madden completely. All you need is better graphics and we idiots will buy it, The only problem is programming the ref screwups into the narrative. I note that LMGM is way ahead of me.

They have spray on coatings nowadays that can waterprooof motherboards (and circuit boards in general), weather won't be the limit if anything.

They usually take a train to those spots, from my memory.  And the train is a MUCH better way to travel than plane.  No change in pressure for injuries, larger seats, easier to move around during the travel, etc.

The challenge with train is that neither end station is near the stadium.  With bus that problem evaporates.

With that said, one of my most memorable train rides was from Penn Station in NYC to 30th Street Station.  The Sixers had played a Sunday matinee game against Willis Reed and the Knicks, and were returning to Philadelphia.  Chamberlain, Chocolate Thunder, Chet the Jet, Billy C, et al.  They flipped seat backs over so they could stretch their legs.  Interesting guys for a high school senior to talk to.

In addition to Cam, I'm gonna predict that Lane signs an extension this offseason and ends up extending his playing window. I didn't get the sense following him this season that he's anywhere close to retiring. He still is fired up and I think he wants more rings.

If Lane does commit to playing four more seasons, then a Becton extension makes a bit less sense.

Good lord the sixers are awful

If we do not get Garrett, I'd be plenty fine there with signing Khalil Mack at DE, then grab a DT in round 1 whether by trade up, staying put or trading back even, depending on how that board looks and the vibes on the DT's in the 20's.

Campbell is a very effective pass rusher (edge) much like Baun is.  He can set the edge too.

Yeah.  The irony of it all was that this was the guy they brought in to fix their money issues!

Well, he fixed it all right😒

Got some Super Bowl LIX confetti and threw it in a shadow box. Looks good next to Foles and the LII confetti.

I was just thinking about our big ass Oline sitting in coach. I'd complain too

I think it would be pretty easy to get more leg room between the rows of seats. Wider seats would be more difficult.
