Draft idea

Trade pick 32 to Raiders for Michael Mayer and pick 37

Pick 37 - Select either Princely Umanmielan or Captain Jack Sawyer

Pick 64 - TJ Sanders

Thoughts?

The Eagles met with Utah RB Micah Bernard at the Hula Bowl, per Ryan Fowler.
Micah Bernard, a running back from Utah, is a 2025 NFL Draft prospect who declared after a standout 2024 season. At 6’0” and 206 lbs, he rushed for 1,009 yards and six touchdowns, becoming the 16th player in Utah history to reach 1,000 yards in a season. Over his 51-game career, he amassed 2,217 rushing yards, averaging 5.4 yards per carry, and added 69 receptions for 620 yards and three scores, showcasing his versatility. Known for his vision, cutback ability, and toughness, Bernard lacks elite burst but excels as a one-cut runner with receiving skills. After a Senior Bowl invite, he’s projected as a mid-to-late-round pick, likely a third-down back or complementary piece in the NFL.

I mean, they have to hire him just based off his name, right?

Texas TE Gunnar Helm had a meeting with the #Eagles, one of 7 formal interviews he’s had. Feels like he was a great vertical threat in Steve Sarkisian’s offense.

Alabama safety Malachi Moore had a formal meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles

If they can't get Micah Parsons, then get a different Micah.

Bring him in and draft his QB as our next great backup.

He's the QB I'd like out of this draft if he is really available in mid rounds. But I think he's one of the better QBs this year and should be gone before the end of round 2.

His father was a high school football coach too I believe. I don’t think giving Hurts a college coach who has bounced around and was a TE coach 2 years ago is advisable.

Seems like a Chauncey replacement

Scouting Report: Strengths
  • Exceptional route recognition ability shows up repeatedly on tape, particularly in zone coverage where he demonstrates veteran-like understanding of route combinations and quarterback manipulation.
  • Natural ball skills jump off the screen - tracks the ball like a receiver and shows aggressive hands at the catch point, routinely turning 50/50 balls into defensive wins.
  • Displays advanced football IQ in coverage splits, seamlessly transitioning between deep safety and slot responsibilities while maintaining proper leverage against both run and pass.
  • Clean footwork in transition, especially when breaking on underneath routes - shows some serious juice when driving downhill on crossing patterns.
  • Elite communication skills evident in pre-snap adjustments, consistently getting the secondary aligned correctly and showing real command of defensive checks.
  • Reliable wrap-up tackler who takes intelligent angles to the ball - rarely sees his tackles broken due to excellent form and understanding of leverage.
  • Versatility is a major selling point - showed he can play single-high, two-deep, in the slot, and even some dime linebacker when needed.
  • Special teams experience adds immediate value - showed up consistently in kick coverage and has experience as a punt returner in emergency situations

I seem to recall that the Eagles got a D Lineman out of Tennessee in the mid '80s that wasn't too shabby at all.

There was also Derek Barnett in 2017. And Steve White in 1996 (who?).

Fun fact: the Eagles didn't draft Reggie White.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggie_White

Quote

White was chosen by the Memphis Showboats in the 1984 USFL Territorial Draft, and the opportunity to play pro football in the same state where he went to college was enough enticement for him to sign.[27][28] He played for Memphis for 2 seasons, starting in 36 games. As a member of the Showboats, he racked up 23.5 sacks, one safety and one forced fumble recovered for a touchdown.[29]

Philadelphia Eagles

[edit]

When the USFL collapsed in 1985, White took a salary cut in Philadelphia. The Eagles signed him to a 4-year/$6 million contract (with a $400,000 signing bonus) after buying out the remaining three years on his Memphis contract.
