TBF Zimmerman went into the HoF so it wasn't like the Giants screwed the pick badly, I mean he never played a down for the Giants because he claimed he should have been a free agent who was free to sign anywhere rather than forced to enter a draft, which makes it still funny.

Yeah.  But, could you imagine had they taken White.... with Taylor.    Jaws wouldn't have survived.  He barely survived as it was.

White with Taylor and Leonard Marshall... sheesh.  That would have been illegal.

TJ Sanders or Walter Nolen would be nice Milton replacements. But I prefer Edge in round 1.

We can get a very solid DT in Round 2.  Here are Kiper’s top 10 DTs.  A lot to choose from there.

Bryce Huff is not getting cut. It's trade or stay.

EDIT: Nevermind, didn't realize he's owed a $16m option bonus this year.  Should try to trade him but probably will be stuck w/him.

This is equivalent to the Al Horford deal. Just atrocious in every way.

I still think he's getting traded. Howie will probably have to eat some of that bonus and probably won't get a great return. But let's say they agree to eat half, I think some team out there will give up something for one year of Byce Huff at $8M or $9M.

Eagles will have about $40 million?

Gotcha. The wording of the wiki entry was confusing, made it sound like he was drafted to Memphis then later signed as a free agent by Philly.

Not that much. OTC has their base cap at $279,500,000 and after rollover and adjustments, the cap space is at $22M. There could be some other adjustments that happen but I wouldn't bet on that big of a swing.

Spotrac has them at only $13M but I don't think they are including rollover/adjustments.

The question I have is will we get an insurance benefit for Bradberry missing 2025? He was paid $8.85mm in cash last year.

Cutting JB post June 1 will add $2.1mm. Slay either gets cut post June 1 or agrees to a reduced option bonus for this year. Goedert may also be asked to take a pay cut. Then, does a Jurgens extension bring his number down at all?

EDIT: If BG comes back, maybe we can push his $9mm in dead cap down the road as well. Becton is $3.5mm, Baun $1.9mm. I'm assuming Sweat is gone and we have to eat the $16mm.

We are stuck with Huff unless howie can pull a rabbit out of his rear end

isnt DGs cap hit north of 15 next season?

I've been saying the same thing, but I'm not so sure he's not undersized. He's 6-4 265. Pretty ideal IMO. Trade for him, bring Ertz in on a 1-year deal and Calcaterra is TE3. TE room is set.

From my memory of looking at the combine data from two years ago, Mayer's arm length and wingspan were surprisingly on the smaller size. Just saying.

IMO we’re so loaded at DT we could wait to draft one. Moro Ojomo takes the bulk of Milton’s snaps, a cheap FA comes in with a mid round pick to fill out our 5

Would make far more sense to draft a kid and have a cheap TE2 for three years while he develops into TE1

Part of me wants to move on from Goedert. Though I don't want to draft a TE in the first 2 rounds

May be a coincidence, but Howie’s success has directly correlated with cap fluctuations. Between 2009 and 2013 the cap didn’t go up, and the Eagles got progressively worse as he began his time as GM. Cap jumps Started picking up 2015-2019, Howie rebuilt the team to new heights. Then the 2020-2021 COVID years, team bottoms out. And now big risers 2022, 2023, 2024… our best 3 year stretch in team history.

It's because he's a 'kick the can' GM

Where are all the measurements??

If the Eagles wind up with any RD7 picks after Howie wheels and deals, this guy is intriguing. First Egyptian-born player to play FBS football.

Relatively new to football and playing DE. Needs to improve technique. Wins on motor and effort. But kicked butt in the Big Mountain Conference. Lots of sacks and TFLs. Feels like a diamond in the rough.

Thought to be better in 4-3, but Fangio could show him the light.

without the Playoffs they do appear to be good comps.  The Eagles using Davis on running snaps probably contributes to the tackles difference.

Last year Milton had 24 total tackles and 5 sacks in regular season.  If he's getting $21 million/year that's $875,000/tackle or $4.2 million/sack

DT stats are always odd.  He averaged 1.4 tackle/game and got 1 sack every 3.4 games and is expected to make so much.

I believe that no USFL players were eligible for the regular draft that specific year, which is why those top players went through the entire regular draft undrafted. If they had been eligible, teams would certainly have picked guys like White, Zimmerman, Rozier, and Steve Young somewhere along the line.

To be honest, I think what the league actually did that year was unfair. For that USFL draft, they used the exact same draft sequence as the regular draft. So teams at the top of the order got to double dip elite prospects. The Giants took Carl Banks that year with the third pick and then got Zimmerman, a future HOFer, from the USFL. Granted Zimmerman never signed with the Giants and forced a trade to the Vikings, but still.

We are probably never going to know fully how much of an impact the insurance benefits actually make. I'm still not convinced if there was something on Bradberry it will be anything significant. Jalen Hurts is the biggest financial risk on the team and is getting $158,304,000 in cash from 2023 through 2026, but only has $85M insured. So if Hurts only has roughly half how much would Bradberry have insured? I'd also imagine he had more insured his first year after signing his extension than he would last year. Also you can't even tell what adjustments OTC is including, so is there something already in there to account for Bradberry? Who knows, not enough public information is out there.

Jurgens extension would probably open up some. He's the only guy that has more than a $3M base salary as it sits currently at $5M. I'd guess maybe $2M - $3M with an extension? Hard to see $5.8M dropping that much after an extension.

Pay cuts would do a little chipping away but even still, nothing significant. Goederts option only accounts for $2.8M in cap space in 2025. If he cuts his bonus in half to $7M it would $1.4M in cap space in 2025, so you're only creating a small amount of space.
