TBF Zimmerman went into the HoF so it wasn't like the Giants screwed the pick badly, I mean he never played a down for the Giants because he claimed he should have been a free agent who was free to sign anywhere rather than forced to enter a draft, which makes it still funny.

My memory of Zimmerman is that he wanted to play somewhere where there was good hunting and fishing opportunities and didn't think he could get that in New Jersey. The Giants eventually accommodated him.

Trade him to the Dolphins and say he just didn't like Fangio's coaching. They'll understand.

His cap hit is ~$12mm, but he is due $15.5mm in cash. I don't see any way we pay him that much for 2025 and add over $11mmm in dead money to 2026 for him to be off the team (80% of his $13.995mm option bonus). I am guessing they ask him to cut the option bonus, maybe with a BS extension to make it look like a raise.

We basically did this with Sweat last year -- make him take less and guarantee it.

May be a coincidence, but Howie’s success has directly correlated with cap fluctuations. Between 2009 and 2013 the cap didn’t go up, and the Eagles got progressively worse as he began his time as GM. Cap jumps Started picking up 2015-2019, Howie rebuilt the team to new heights. Then the 2020-2021 COVID years, team bottoms out. And now big risers 2022, 2023, 2024… our best 3 year stretch in team history.

Definitely not a coincidence

We are probably never going to know fully how much of an impact the insurance benefits actually make. I'm still not convinced if there was something on Bradberry it will be anything significant. Jalen Hurts is the biggest financial risk on the team and is getting $158,304,000 in cash from 2023 through 2026, but only has $85M insured. So if Hurts only has roughly half how much would Bradberry have insured? I'd also imagine he had more insured his first year after signing his extension than he would last year. Also you can't even tell what adjustments OTC is including, so is there something already in there to account for Bradberry? Who knows, not enough public information is out there.

Jurgens extension would probably open up some. He's the only guy that has more than a $3M base salary as it sits currently at $5M. I'd guess maybe $2M - $3M with an extension? Hard to see $5.8M dropping that much after an extension.

Pay cuts would do a little chipping away but even still, nothing significant. Goederts option only accounts for $2.8M in cap space in 2025. If he cuts his bonus in half to $7M it would $1.4M in cap space in 2025, so you're only creating a small amount of space.

Yeah, it's really all nickels around the edges that could add up to another 5-10mm in cap space.

Could impact the Becton market, but I still think he stays for a variety of reasons.

Let Becton walk and take the comp pick.

It's a real possibility he can't play an entire season again. Hopefully Howie doesn't get sentimental again

Isn’t the $15m bonus for Huff this year guaranteed?

If not they will cut him for sure.

Sadly, yes - all $16.75mm this year is guaranteed. We can't cut him. If we trade him, we need the acquiring team to pick up as much of that salary as possible, but no one paying him almost $17mm for 2025.

Even with Trey Smith on board, if Bolton and Reid jet they come down on a notch on that defense. Offense is still stuck with Jawaan Taylor at RT and no one ready at LT. An aging Kelce and a rehabbing Rice with legal issues, which leaves a lot of question marks on these Chiefs. 11-6 would be an achievement with this squad next season.

So what is the most likely scenario? Cut him and just eat the $ or keep him and have him be a healthy scratch every game?

As long as they have Mahomes they’ll be the favorite to at the very least make the AFCCG

Most likely he is on the 53 and we pray he rebounds.

Mahomes, Schmahomes.  Chiefs defense being just in the middle of the pack won't be enough for AFCCG next season. Team's window is currently shut for a Superbowl til further notice. They are in cap hell and aging. Been losing pieces every year because of it. Finally taking its toll.

The Bears probably already have a deal worked out with Becton.

From Justin M of TDN…

The following teams scheduled formals with Boston College OT Ozzy Trapilo at the #NFLCombine, sources say.

• Bears
• Browns
• Eagles
• Texans

Second meeting for all, considering Trapilo was at the @seniorbowl.

Mahomes is too good of a player and Reid is too good of a coach. Their division is getting better but they’ll still win it by 2-3 games.

Mike Florio on @1053thefan on Thursday morning at the NFL Combine:

"I did hear yesterday... you hear all sorts of stuff. And I don't like to traffic in stuff I've heard because I don't know how accurate it is. But I did have somebody tell me that the Cowboys have talked to the Titans about moving up to number one."

"Now I think a lot of teams talk about moving around and I don't know if you guys have heard that. But that's a jump and I don't know what you would have to put into that or whether you'd have to put Micah Parsons into that package if it would go that way. But teams talk all the time... they talk all the time."

Yeah that to me is just what every team is doing. I’m sure someone on the Eagles has spoken to the teams in the top 5 right? Not with any serious interest but just to understand the price and to perhaps try to understand what other teams are doing and how things may play out.

Let them overpay him our 5th best OL. He'll do an adequate job blocking for Swift while he watches TJ Edwards make tackles 7 yards downfield.

Draft idea

Trade pick 32 to Raiders for Michael Mayer and pick 37

Pick 37 - Select either Princely Umanmielan or Captain Jack Sawyer

Pick 64 - TJ Sanders

Thoughts?

Would love it, but I don’t think Sanders lasts until 64.

Also, Uma is not the best run defender. If you take him, I think we need to come back and draft someone later who is better in run defense.

Does any of that change if he is traded?
