Does any of that change if he is traded?

You'd need the team trading for him to assume his contract and the $15.5mm in cash, and there's no team trading for him on a 1 year, $15.5mm deal. So they would have to be willing to extend an injury prone, 30 year old TE. Seems unlikely.

For some reason, spotrac has an $11mm dead cap hit from trading him, but that seems wrong. He has been paid $43mm in cash, and we have only taken cap charges of around $22mm. So it should be more like $21mm in dead cap from a trade I think. OTC has the $21mm dead money and I think that is correct.

Mahomes is too good of a player and Reid is too good of a coach. Their division is getting better but they’ll still win it by 2-3 games.

The magic is fading a little there. Reid and McNabb eventually lost that magic here too. Alot of games that they won in the last possession just won't be there next year with a slightly above average defense. Chargers are a real threat with 70M cap space. They will improve on that 11-6 record. Give them 1 or 2 more wins. Can see Broncos taking the next step as well from 10-7. Best case scenario I see for Chiefs is 12-5, with the big losses on defense and losing some defensive linemen like Wharton, Omenihu and Pennell. This maybe the Chargers year. Coin flip between them and Chiefs if I was betting. Bengals should also be a threat in that conference if they just make incremental improvements on defense. Played well in the 2nd half. I would not make Chiefs a favorite in a an AFCC game as we see them taking some big hits this offseason and many more question marks than usual.

You are only looking at the Cap charges on a one year time horizon.  If he is traded post-June 1 the 2025 Cap charge is $6,451,000 and the 2026 Cap charge is $22,139,000 for a total Cap hit of $28,590,000.

If he is retained through the 2025 season his 2025 Cap charge is $7,511,000 and if traded or released in 2026 his combined 2026 and 2027 Cap charge is $22,139,000 for a total Cap hit of  $29,650,000.

So by keeping him and not playing him this season the total Cap hit for him goes up by $1,050,000.

Like I said earlier, the intent is to play him as a pass rushing specialist and hope you get some quality snaps out of him. They aren’t going to keep him and not play him.

That was tongue in cheek.

Forgive me, the context of the board makes it hard to tell sometimes! Lol.

Reminder: Devonta Smith and Jalen Hurts' agent, Nicole Lynn, is also Myles Garrett's agent...

Will that give a F&F discount?

Adding Garrett to DL would be great.  Only very costly.

What if we traded two 2nd rounders and Huff for Garrett and then drafted Walter Nolan at 32.

This board might lose it

Be so excited I'd wake up and stop dreaming.

Ty Robinson (not sure combine measurements) but shows up as 6 foot 6 and 310 pounds on ESPN... Had 7 sacks last year for Nebraska.  Guessing he's moving up the boards

Ingram Dawkins was a top 20 recruit coming out of high school.  I know that doesn't always matter.  He had 3 sacks this year.. Same as Jalen Carter...

I'm not saying he's Jalen Carter just wonder if he's being undervalued since UGA DL really don't put on big stats

So, a player who is under contract with a team at any point during the season when that team wins the Super Bowl usually gets a Super Bowl ring, it's up to the team of course. But they usually award that player a ring too, I believe.

So that means that Nick Foles gets his second Super Bowl ring since he signed his 1 day contract during the 2024 Eagles season

Ok, probably won't get one. But he should, just to tweak Carson a little... lol

You know, I was thinking about this and Brent Celek was working with the D to help them prepare for the Super Bowl. Apparently he's still employed by the Eagles, so if that's true, Brent should be getting his second ring now.

Quote

Brent Celek retired as a member of the Eagles after 11 seasons, but he's maintained employment with the franchise and is playing a key role in preparation for Super Bowl LIX.

During Friday's practice ahead of the trip to New Orleans, Celek ran routes against C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Reed Blankenship, clearly playing the role of Chiefs All-World tight end Travis Kelce.

I’m very confident either (or both) Sweat or Becton will have a much softer market than expected.

Eagles will have about $40 million?

I thought 46

I think Howie is playing the Commanders here to pony up for Garrett. Can't pay Garrett, Carter and Smith all in one year. Not gonna happen. Now that I see the Chiefs who have less cap space than Eagles, franchise tag Trey Smith for 1 year (have til July 15th to rework a long term deal) makes me curious of feasibility of franchise tag for M. Williams.

On another note, you would think Becton is thrilled seeing Trey Smith off the market. He's getting paid more than people think here. $10M is a pipe dream. I'm thinking he can get as much as $15M out there. Especially if a team dangles a Tackle position in his future. If Becton is getting crazy offers, I'm still on the Milton Williams train with Baun as my 2 must keeps here. I like Becton/ Baun combo if one gives the home town discount  and we can keep some depth with it (like Rodgers and Burks). Otherwise, I'm going for the home runs and keeping this defense mostly intact upfront with Williams & Baun.

And yes we can still draft defensive line high up there cuz I see Jordan Davis out of the picture here for long term. Still need to replace Sweat & Graham. So 2 out of 3 first draft picks should be D-line regardless. I see Howie getting another Top 100 pick, thru trade, to supplement these losses on defense.

They have just around $20M.

4.50 40 for James Pearce Jr.

4.60 40 for Shemar Stewart

4.47 40 for James Pearce Jr. in his 2nd attempt.

I don't know about Becton.  This is a weak IOL class and there aren't many FA IOL.  I think Fries is coming off of a bad leg injury and Trey Smith is reportedly getting the franchise tag.

I wonder if there are teams that would consider reverting him back to T as well. Even just having the versatility to play both would push him above IOL only guys.
