I still don't see Garrett happening with the caveat of the Browns trading him for less than expected. Like two 2nds. And him not requiring a massive contract extension. If those unlikely things happen I could see it. But "They're letting guys go to pursue Garrett" makes no sense, because what if the Browns just don't trade Garrett? Howie isn't that careless. I think they'll want to keep building via the draft and developing.

And if they sign a mid tier edge rusher in free agency in the first few days, I wouldn't say it would totally kill any Garrett rumors, but would have them on life support.

Baun, Graham and BVS are the only guys I really care about returning.

I'm worried we're going to get screwed by being sentimental with Graham

When she says young players does she mean Free Agents or does she mean potentially trading a player under contract? Is it something where Howie would include one of our young defensive players coming back in a trade? I am not thrilled with that idea. Sending Nolan Smith back for Myles Garrett and sending a first round pick would make the roster worse in my opinion. I would rather have an ascending Nolan Smith + a draft pick than Myles Garrett. Even sending a player like Jordan Davis back would weaken the roster significantly.

Huff straight up and we all celebrate!

Russini is very connected.  I don't think she would just make this up without a good source.

I didn't say she made it up. But she did say "here is what some people are saying right now". What I'm questioning are the other people.

This is what Howie said. Even if he's lying I would trust this more than what other people at the combine are saying.

"Obviously, anytime that you’re talking about giving up a high pick and a lot of money for a player, it’s also gotta fit where you are as a team, it’s gotta fit where you are from a cap perspective,” Roseman said. "All those things have to match up. We look at all those. There’s a lot of attractive items out there. We spend a lot of time talking about every position and every good player and we’re selfish, we want everyone. But at the end of the day, it’s just not the position we’re in right now.”

We're likely getting used in the media again like we do every trade and FA scenario

Though I don't think his contract would be as expensive as a lot of people say. He wants a contender to get rings. Players usually take team friendly deals when they're doing that. Whoever gets him will like trade a lot for him but the contract won't be the killer IMO

Overall issues with paying Becton

  • We can't pay everyone and paying Becton would mean paying 5 starters on the OL real money. I'd rather pay another EDGE.
  • Having no young OL is also a problem long-term
  • I would argue that the way we run our offense, RG is the least important position.
  • If there's one position where we can find low-cost options and succeed, it's OL due to Stoutland
  • Becton's injury history is still very real
  • Becton's struggled with his weight in the NFL. It's fine to bank on that in a contract year, but how does he react after he gets paid?
  • Becton is comfortably the worst of the 5 OL. He's a Home run/strike-out type of OL. His best players are crazy, but he's also getting beat on stunts/games a ton. He's not great at recognizing that. Most of our bad OL games were due to Becton. The highs were high though.
  • He's fine as a pass-blocker. Teams absolutely try to pick on him, but that's just as much as not wanting to test Jordan-Lane and Dickerson to a lesser extent.
  • To help out Jalen, I would like to see a shorter RG to help him see. Jalen is not tall and IMO it's one of the reasons he doesn't test the MOF. Having a mammoth RG doesn't exactly help that. Of course Steen is big too, but he's not the giant that Becton is.

There's just too much risk for me.

I would comment at length but I have been told I'm a self-anointed apologist for Becton.

Means letting guys walk who are free agents.

Playing devil's advocate, the case for Becton is that if he takes another jump we get Brandon Brooks 2.0. I just personally don't see that leap coming.

Would love to pair a bruiser type with Barkley. Put them both on the field and enjoy the TD

So he fits right in!

Who is this from?  Also, Bowling Green did give PSU a run for their money earlier this season.  Very close game.  Wonder if we're taking an extra peak at Harold Fanin Jr.

Everyone will need to hold heir pp's if Fanin is around.

Just saw this, I think its. Great get, hiring a former HC, be it college to be a QB coach

He was a teammate of Tom bradys at michigan but got hurt then went into coaching, coached tebow at florida, been OC at numerous colleges, I think hell be a good addition to the O staff and helpful for hurts

Baun and Garrett is fine with me.

I trust the DT depth in place if we have to let Milton go. We can still add DE depth after letting Sweat walk.
