Am I the only one that doesn't really want Myles Garrett?  I won't cry myself to sleep if we get him, but I just don't like the idea of giving up loads of draft capital and signing him to a huge extension at 30 years old.  He is already on the downward slope of his prime.

Our biggest problem is Howie has drafted way too many studs these last 4 years, meaning we are going to have to pay up next year (Cam Jurgens), the year after (Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith), the year after (Cooper Dejean), and that trend will continue.  Keep this team young, ferocious, hungry, and most of all.....together.  There will be fallout for some of these guys if we trade for Garrett and extend him.

We don't know what the cost will be to trade or what his contract would look like. People are just scaring themselves out of it IMO

In what way is he already on the downward slope of his prime?

Career year for TFL and solo tackles. Top 4th year in combined tackles. Tied 2nd in his career sacks

I'm of 2 minds with Garrett. The 1st is exactly what you're saying, although I think there's no way the Eagles offer 2 1s or anything close to the projections out there.

My other mind? Reggie White had 16 sacks and won DPOY in year 14. Garrett's not Reggie, but there's some tier where these guys are just flat out different. And we just got 5 good years out of a CB we acquired when he was 29.

Garrett is athletic but hes also a powerful DE who can stay effective for a long time.

I still wouldnt expect 2 1sts for a 30 year old.

I think 2 seconds is pretty reasonable for a player on his age.

Diana russini says talking to people down at the combine many believe the Eagles are getting Myles Garrett.

She also said we would lose all 4 of our big FA's. That would be a major blow and fail. Garrett would be great but not at the cost of losing Baun and all the rest of our free agents on top of it.

Oh my

My view on Garrett is pretty simple -- he's a generational talent, DPOY finalist every season and likely a 1st ballot hall of famer that likely has at least 4-5 great years left. If someone like that is available, you have to try. I'd trade the 32nd pick and a 3rd next year to get him and then likely extend him. He's due just under $20mm this year and $25mm next year. Let's say you did a 4 year/$120mm deal with him, with a $40mm signing bonus, min salaries and option bonuses where ~$75mm is guaranteed at signing. His 2025 cap number in that case is ~$9.255mm ($1.255mm base salary + $8mm of signing bonus proration). That still leaves room to bring back Baun, but you move on from Sweat, Williams and Becton.

When she says young players does she mean Free Agents or does she mean potentially trading a player under contract? Is it something where Howie would include one of our young defensive players coming back in a trade? I am not thrilled with that idea. Sending Nolan Smith back for Myles Garrett and sending a first round pick would make the roster worse in my opinion. I would rather have an ascending Nolan Smith + a draft pick than Myles Garrett. Even sending a player like Jordan Davis back would weaken the roster significantly.

Yup, there isn't a young player on defense that I'd consider moving to get Myles Garrett. They just wont the SB in dominating fashion with this young group. Yes, some will leave, but I'm not sacrificing any of the homegrown talent, plus premium draft picks for him. I don't care how good he is, they won without him.

I feel the same way about Myles Garrett as I did with Paul George.

Losing out on Becton would suck. I've already put it in my mind that Williams and Sweat are gone. They want paid. Becton has more variables because his best year was at guard. So I'm curious if he'll go back to tackle on another team or stick with guard on another team. Is it just because he's with Stout and has Lane next to him?

How do you double Garrett and Carter while blocking the others. Someone is going to get through

Jalyx Hunt would be a deal breaker for you?

One other thing to bear in mind with Garrett -- per Spotrac, $5mm of his 2025 option bonus ($18,541,125 total) is due on 3/14, with the balance of just over $13.5mm due 8/28. Obviously he could push back that $5mm to give the Browns more time to find a trade, but he might say no to force their hand. If I were him, I'd tell them to trade me before 3/14 or pay me $5mm, and I still want to be traded and we'll see if I report to camp. Feels like he can force this to come to a head in the next 2 weeks.

To get on my soap box for a minute. I understand you can't keep everyone and gotta lose guys. And I'm cool with it. crap, the team just won a SB. I generally trust Howie. But I'm sorry, losing Baun would be totally unacceptable. Unless some team pays him 20m per season, which no one will. Baun is not a guy you draw a hard line in the sand for. He's that important to this defense. He made so many game changing plays in addition to just being a great player who can cover, pursue, and tackle. That forced fumble in the NFCCG was huge. The INT vs the Packers. He was clutch in big moments. A pick in the Super Bowl! If you want to draw a line with the other top 3, then fine. But Baun is so irreplaceable. I'm going to be legit annoyed if Baun goes elsewhere. They finally found a stud solution at LB and letting a guy like that go would be a travesty and reek of arrogance that they can just find another Baun. Credit to them for finding him, but they at least got partly lucky finding a guy that good. Recognize it and lock his ass up.

Unpopular opinion -- the Rams should have moved on from Stafford. He is still viewed as a borderline top 5 QB, but he hasn't been that for a couple years. If the Giants were really offering the 3rd pick in the draft, you make that trade.

Rams will also be drafting Jaxson Dart at #26 to learn behind Stafford.

Hopefully the new Qb coach brings along his tight end very good prospect!

Browns arent going to get rid of a generational player for james thrash and a 5th.

And its not like garrett is going to waive his contract and sign for the league minimum, its going to be a significant amount of money.
