Why would you go cheap on defense when that's exactly why this team won a Superbowl? And most current resources already go to the offense and is one sided. This was a different MO than past years with good LB play and a reliable secondary. If we go back to 2023 with a porous defense your wonderful right guard play becomes neutralized as the defense plays 100 snaps and is stuck on the field. This offensive line will be pretty dominant with Steen, Seuamalo, Jurgens or whoever we plug in there. I have more faith that the offense is fine regardless, than the defense duplicating last year's play. I want to be DOMINANT there first. And then go from there.

Embiid out for season.

I thought he's been out since 2023.

Still hard to tell with Fangio D how much he helps out the LB's... Seemed like Browning, Van Ginkel, and Baun all had career years with him his last 3 stops.  Could someone come in and 1/10th the cost and replace Baun.  This is me just being optimistic in case we lose Baun

It'll be about 2030 when the sixers are worth watching again.

So, you think the NBA is worth saving?

Because… it’s exactly how we won the Super Bowl. With a cheap defense. You realize that, right?

Defense is easier to develop players because there is more rotation, especially on the DL. So you get more value from draft picks. And DL are among the most expensive positions, so you save more money while simultaneously having more depth and better return on your draft picks.

I want them to keep Baun but 2 things say.  First, everyone is just overreacting to every report because that's what we do this time orf year.  Second, we just won the Super Bowl so there's only so upset I'm going to get by any move or non move

The Becton talk is almost a moot point because his market will be more than the $10M per year team friendly contract that everyone wants him at. I can see Becton receiving as much as $15M, which is about 2/3 of Trey Smith's salary. Howie will not sign him for that number based on Jurgens extension and tons of money spent on the line. And a 3rd round investment in Steen.

I'm not anti-Becton. I'm just against paying him market value with our salary cap space. Mailata should want to bring him back! But Jordan is not managing the salary cap is rightfully one of the highest paid OT in the NFL.

Jurgens also struggled with pass protection breakdowns. No arguments there.

I'll throw this out another way: would you rather extend Jurgens or Becton? Because resources are finite, we might only be able to afford one of them.

Your final question is a killer. I truthfully don’t have an answer to that. I’ll offer you one: if you can only keep one of Dickerson and Jurgens, who would it be? Bear in mind that everything you said about Becton’s injury history applies to Dickerson as well, and he’s injured now. I don’t mean to put you on a spot nor am I looking for an answer. It’s just a question of how valuable you or I think they are. The argument about paying the fifth guy on the OL market price as too much cuts no ice with me. Ralph Wilson made it hat argument when he traded Jason Peters to us. And Becton is fifth only in seniority. Talent-wise he’s in a five-way tie for first.

There always is a thead for mock drafts there is a whole section of the board in general for college football and mock drafts… just very few use it… would be great to have more interaction in that part of the board.

Move the Mock Draft thread onto TATE and it will be much more actively used.

Another interesting speculation is as follows.  Who do you think is a bigger drop off in play quality, Steen from Becton or Jurgens from Kelce?

Well you have to take Reid and Banner out of that, because they're gone and we have Howie. All those guys were drafted by Reid. (Yes Howie had the title of GM in 2010 but Reid was VP of Personnel and let's face it those drafts were his selections). Even if you want to give Howie credit for Kendricks in 2012, that's his only one in his tenure. The others you're going back 25 years to make the case. Look at corner, it took them 22 years to draft a corner in the 1st since Lito. Maybe it will happen at LB again but the odds aren't in that favor.

Now if they end up trading their 1st for Garrett, there's no way they use their first selection in the draft on a LB. They will draft a D linemen to replace all the guys leaving. Then you're looking at best a LB in the 3rd round, and Dean coming off yet another injury and Burks.

Re-sign Baun.

Yes and Howie still worked under reid for all those drafts and Lurie was around for all as well

Sure the eagles the last almost 15 years havent used higher than a 3rd on off ball LB but hey eagles hadnt used a first on a corner since Lito on 2002 so ...

Im not sure whose in the draft this year at off ball LB I havent really dove into the draft this year, apparently its a D line heavy draft and eagles always draft DL often and early so we'll see.

If Baun somehow isnt back im sure Vic has a list of guys at off ball that he likes.

We'll see

What would you put the % of baun, sweat, Williams and becton are all gone? A couple days ago i figured at least 1 would be back. I think it’d higher than what i originally thought. Still don’t think it’s likely all 4 are gone

Very low. The Eagles are not cap strapped. They aren't loaded with money, but they have some flexibility. It wouldn't make any sense to let them all go unless they all were absurdly overpaid. I think Baun stays and possibly Becton depending on the price, as I've felt all along.

Changing the red to green was definitely the way to go.

I think Baun is a priority.  I wouldn't be surprised if Sweat, Williams and Becton are gone.  I think that's a 70% likelihood.   A 15% chance we sign we sign 2 out of 4.  A 10% chance we sign 3 out of 4.  A 5% chance they are all gone.

Keeping Baun and Becton, IMO.

Keeping Rodgers, I think.

Burks too and they should, if team friendly.

Could keep Gainwell on a team friendly deal but I get why we may want a younger, cheaper guy and the draft apparently has them.

I understand why Slay may stay because there is a way to finagle it.

I think logic says Sweat and Williams are 100% gone.

Tashan Reed, the Raiders beat writer for The Athletic, said the Raiders are open to trading Mayer. My prediction that the Eagles would trade for Mayer (after drafting Bowers) is heating up.

I can't see them trading for him before the draft.  I think they would wait and see what happens with the draft first.  He also wasn't a player they met with before the 2023 draft. So I am not sure they would be that interested.

Was she that explicit?  ALL four?

She didn't say 4, but it seemed to be leaning towards that and then she reported Bauns contract was going to be out of hand and we probably wouldn't go there. We can't lose that guy, he means more to us than any other team.

You’ll get Noah Togiai and like it
