Not a minimum on 6, an average of 6. There are a lot of factors to account for. Some have fully recovered in as little as 4 months post-op.

Sure there are minimums, but I'm just trying to be realistic (not saying you aren't either). IMO, and I could be wrong, I would think you don't want to rush back from an injury during the offseason, even if it does take away from regular training. Get Nolan 100% healthy while there are no games to be played, even if it means missing all of TC. He's too good of a player and so important to the current and long-term success of this team.

If June rolls around and he says, I'm good to go, and the team Doc says he's 100% good to go, that would be fantastic and it very well could happen. But at the same time, I think Howie needs to approach the position knowing they need to invest quite a bit.

I get it but the Rams were down 2 scores at 4 minutes when Barkley scored then needed a missed XP, a bad defensive drive by Eagles, a bad offensive drive by Eagles then another drive by their O.  There were so many chances for them to fail in that mix that it's expected that eventually it did happen.  They were closer to one play happening to cause them to lose by two scores imo.

The missed XP is fair to compare with, but the others are a culmination of multiple plays, rather than a single one. The chances of converting an XP from that distance, even in those conditions, is probably higher than converting a 3rd and 2 or a subsequent 4th and 2 absent the sack. But the difference is that the missed XP happened with plenty of time on the clock, allowing us a chance to recover from it. But if Carter doesn't make that play, and the Rams convert, we have a much smaller chance to make amends, so to speak. The margin of error shrinks as you near the end of the game.

Something to consider with Edge is Nolan Smith and injuries. Safe to say, he is a stud and still getting better. However, he had injury concerns at UGA, during his rookie year and now he has a torn triceps. He had surgery in late February, I think around the 20th. Full recovery is roughly 6-8 months. BG came back after 5 months and re-tore his in 13 snaps. Let's say Nolan Smith is aggressive with his rebab and is 100%, no questions after 6 months. That timeline puts him coming back in the middle of TC. I'd imagine they might be more cautious with him and start him on PUP. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't practice at all during the preseason.

Same timetable for BG. My guess is BG doesn't retire and is on call for the Eagles to sign him after week 1 if he's 100% healthy. His salary won't be guaranteed and he doesn't have to go through the summer heat and all of the workouts of TC.

Looking at the roster as of today on PE.com, which includes everyone from futures contracts and PS guys, the Eagles have the following HEALTHY players at Edge/OLB:

-Jalyx Hunt

-Bryce Huff

-KJ Henry

That's it. To say Edge/OLB is a need is an understatement. Howie has serious work to do at the position. I don't think it will be Myles Garrett, but I can see at least 2 players being added via FA and the draft, if not more.

This is the draft to load up on DL/EDGE.

I want a minimum of 3. I wouldn’t mind using our first 3 picks on DL — 2 EDGE and 1 DT.

Sure but that single play is usually a pretty high percentage play for an offense, and for increasing their win probability in that situation. A 3rd and 2 from inside the 10 yard line with 40 seconds left. It's easily the most important play of the entire season. He can hang his hat on that, even if he feels like he didn't much praise for his performance in super bowl itself.

You talking about Carter?   Carter had a great Super Bowl... just not on the stat sheet.  I don't think Carter is feeling bad about his Super Bowl performance, but maybe he does.   🤷‍♂️.  If he does, he shouldn't.   Here's why:

https://www.phillyvoice.com/super-bowl-film-breakdown-eagles-jalen-carter-did-dirty-work-so-his-teammates-could-eat/

One play that wasn't highlighted in that article was DeJean's pick 6.   He's tackled on that play, no flag.  During this video, you can see the tackle just as its paused by this creator to highlight what Mahomes sees.

Carter was huge in that game... even if he didn't get on the score sheet.

I'm not saying there aren't, just saying it's not a minimum of 6 months. And with what little we know about it, I wouldn't automatically assume he'd still be on PUP to start the season. He very well could be, but it's hardly a foregone conclusion.

Of course, which is why I said if he felt he wasn't getting enough praise, he should still realize he made the most important play of the year, even if it didn't happen to occur in the most important game of the year.

Eagles meeting with OT Anthony Belton NCSU.

Tony Pauline says keep an eye on Eagles for Grey Zabel OT NDSU in the first round. Had a great senior bowl.

Gray provides great insurance across the line. I'd guess that means Becton goes, Gray to RG. Definitely not my favorite idea but Pauline seems to have good intel throughout the years. Belton has great size for RG, more of a 2nd or even 3rd rounder. If Becton goes I'd be ok with Belton. Wish Gray had better size, longer arms. Think we can do better in round 1.

Sanders and Ward both small. 6014-5

I'm sure it is, the question is can they swing it with the price both of trade comp and new contract?

We are not getting Garrett. Would be a stupid trade

Change of topic for us Phillies fans. I their window with this roster closed last year, especially with the Dodgers doing what they are doing. It can be so hard to gauge minor league talent and much like the Flyers, the Phillies untouchables over the years have rarely panned out. Painter should be here sooner than later but the cupboard in the field and at the plate in the minors looks pretty bare. Hopefully this team catches fire at the right time and doesn't go cold.

I predict a slow start for the offense then the bats heat up in the summer,  only to go silent in the fall.  Pitching should he good enough to get them close to the wildcard.o

Garrett only makes sense if HE makes it happen.  Takes less money and destroys the Brown's leverage.  No Howie magic, no Howie mistake and over-commitment.  Garrett's got to make it happen.  Otherwise it just doesn't make sense.

Tomlin is the wrong coach to say that to.  Stupid to spout it off to the media regardless, but know your audience.  Tomlin is as old school as it gets and was asking about major and GPA.  Anyone who thinks he wants to hear Cardale Jones quoted is going to have a serious problem learning under certain coaching personalities.

Hear me out. A lot of guys on here are making great points about the Eagles not investing top dollar at every position across the OL. I think Tyler Steen on a rookie contract is VERY attractive to them. I also think Becton can be brough back at a reasonable starting RG price.

What if the Browns ask for Landon Dickerson and the Eagles are able to bring Becton back. I LOVE Landon Dickerson, but again, the Eagles have Tyler Steen waiting around. Steen is a good player but no where near the level of Dickerson. You have to wonder if Dickerson's knees break down sooner than later. He's everything you want in an OL and he plays through pain as much as he can. But at some point the body might just say it's had it.

You lose a Pro Bowl LG, but you plug in a rookie contract at LG, keep the starting RG and once you extend Jurgens, your top dollars are spent at LT, C and RT.

I'm not advocating they do this, but thinking of ideas that might come out of left field.

I'm hoping Eagles announce Baun signing in the coming week.

It would be a trade for picks only if it gets done.

Not a bad idea.  I thought at least 2 with a TE and sign a EDGE or DT.

We are most likely getting Garrett.  Smart trade too considering how great our defensive line will be with him in the mix.

I get the rationale of offloading a max-ish OL contract for a stud edge to stagger the need for Jurgens.  It's creative.  Keep Becton and his potential future projection at RT, Steen projects well at LG, and get major return for Dickerson.  Under this scenario, it all depends on the knee.

If the knee is ok...Dickerson is 26.  Garrett 29.  Anecdotally, I'd say guards are better into their 30's than edge rushers.  We are looking at Dickerson having 3-5 more probowl years in front of him than Garrett does.  Garrett may be a sexier name and position, but that's a major gap.  Not to mention, Dickerson is a major personality of this OL.

I know everyone thinks Stoutland walks on water, but Dickerson was a high 2nd round pick out of Alabama.  Ditto Jurgens, Becton, Lane.  He's getting some good slabs of granite here.  I don't want to break up this OL.

I wonder if it's to drive up the price for other teams.  Still don't think it would be smart for the Eagles to do in my opinion.

I agree with you. Dickerson is the vocal leader of the OL too. I think he really sets the attitude, just look at his pregame huddle talks. I don't want to lose that. His knees do worry me. If he gets 5 more Pro Bowl years out of them, I'd be thrilled. He's a massive human who's had 2 torn ACL's and another significant injury he's having surgery on soon, if he hasn't had it already.
