The title of our 2024 season movie has got to be "Inner Excellence”, right?

Not sure if the UCLA kid makes it to our 2nd rounder

I love the physicality this defense plays with. I don't think he has that in his game and I don't want to soften up at all. But his pass coverage, instincts are top notch. He hustles too at least.

I can't see a real plan being let Baun go and assume you will replace him with a guy at pick 32 who everybody here likes.  Even if that guy made it and they actually picked him (2 unlikely things) then the pressure on him to fill those shoes would set him up for failure

The guys that really interest me are Chase Young and Kyle Pitts.  Myles Garrett is just too pricey for me.  They are great parallels to the Barkley/Becton additions this past offseason.  Top of the draft rare talents that didn't put it together, but are still young.  You could have either one, or both.

At worst, accounting for Hunt's development, a Hunt/Young platoon next year is going to match a Sweat/Hunt platoon.  And Pitts will be an upgrade over Calcaterra with an audition to take over the position for Goedert.  If he blossoms, that could give the offense a new dimension to compensate for maybe a little less Barkley load and dominance in 2025.

I'd be down for signing Chase.  He is as similar player to Sweat and will likely cost less.  I'm out on Pitts, unless we surprisingly trade Goedert.

I'm pretty sure if BG actually tore his tricep again in the Super Bowl and had another surgery afterward, it would have been reported.  So I don't believe it.

He obviously was not fully healed by the SB since he came back so fast, so this wrap is probably just precautionary to continue the healing process.

That means he should be good to go at the start of next season assuming he wants to come back.

If the price is right I'd love to have him since he provides valuable depth at DE and can rush inside from DT also.

Not necessarily. I'm just going based off of what I went through, and the kind of dressing I had post surgery. That does not look like a precautionary wrap. There's most likely a gauze padding underneath all of that. I had to keep my arm in that for a few days post surgery. Even when I unwrapped to change the underneath padding, I had to keep it wrapped like that. Again, just suggesting this based off personal experience.

Didnt know Mason Taylor is Jason Taylor's son.

Unless they want to replace him with Baron Browning.  He'll be significantly cheaper than Baun.

He's priority number 1. They're a middle of the pack defense instantly with out him and possibly Williams. Rookies aren't gonna come into those positions and just maintain the same production and fit in like that. Got lucky with Mitchell & Coop performing as rookies right away, but they also had a great front 7 in front of them and vets to coach them up. Different scenario next year overall.

Eagles meeting with OT Anthony Belton NCSU.

Tony Pauline says keep an eye on Eagles for Grey Zabel OT NDSU in the first round. Had a great senior bowl.

Benton is a raw OT that @just relax earlier said would be a good developmental student in Stoutland University

Gray provides great insurance across the line. I'd guess that means Becton goes, Gray to RG. Definitely not my favorite idea but Pauline seems to have good intel throughout the years. Belton has great size for RG, more of a 2nd or even 3rd rounder. If Becton goes I'd be ok with Belton. Wish Gray had better size, longer arms. Think we can do better in round 1.

You would move Gray ahead of Steen on the depth chart?

4.40 for Blue. Not the new combine record.

Ollie Gordon could be a tremendous value pick. He had a down year in 2024 but was thought to be the best RB prior to the year.

Those 1983 guys are in their 70s/80s or dead ...

Seriously though, the job of this Phillies team is to get into the playoffs with a fresh pitching staff.

They need dominant games from 3 of them about 8-10 times to win a title.

Wheeler will be 1. Any of the other guys could be 2 and 3

I prefer its not Nola. He's a fine regular season pitcher but he is almost never Cole Hamels/Curt Schilling clutch in the playoffs.

Their starting pitching is gonna have to carry them. Their lineup has holes in it as hey don’t have a true cleanup hitter. It’s really make or break years for Stott, marsh and Bohm. Bohm was good til end of June. His numbers were actually worse in avg/OBP/slg then Stott from July onward. IMO their bullpen is worse until guys prove themselves. lost arguably their two best BP arms in estevez and Hoffman. replaced it with Romano coming off an elbow injury and wasn’t very good last year prior to the injury. Add on 32 now. Hoping Alvarado bounces back which they tried with Soto and Dominguez last year and it didn’t work well. I also think once painter gets called up there’s a chance Suarez gets moved out to the BP to be LHP reliever for the stretch and postseason.

Tbh I kind of think the window is close to shut to win a World Series with this core. They’ll still make the playoffs be competitive. But their best opportunity was in 2022 and unfortunately, they ran into a really good Houston team and 2023 they blew it against the Diamondbacks. Last year they lost to a Mets team that didn’t have nearly the talent they did. if you were gonna beat the Dodgers, last year was really the year they were ripe. they basically had 2 starting pitchers left. Now they have a staff of Yamamoto, glasnow, Ohtani, snell, kershaw and sasaki. That doesn’t include their young guys like May and miller if guys get hurt. Also adding tanner Scott and yates to their BP which was already good. The Phillies SP strength is right there with the dodgers but the dodgers lineup and BP is better. I think you got a better chance in a 5 game series to beat them then in a 7 game series

I would rather get the GT kid Hawes honestly. Nasty blocker. Have to think Stout would love him

We just need a solid pass catching TE who, like you said, is a good blocker.

No point in getting a standout, dynamic play making TE unless he is going to be a focal point of the offense.

i could see this happening. If he has another surgery and it’s still an issue, I’m betting the sixers and Harris go down this path

Nice 40 from my guy Tuten

I'm sure glad they ignored the writing on the wall last year when many of us said trade him before this happens. It's better for them to lose him for nothing. DM is dog crap

We've won 2 SBs in 7 years. We've been to the playoffs every year but 1 since 2017. We're a consistent playoff team and SB contender.

At the same time, sometimes you just want to cheer for cool and fun players and Myles Garrett fits that.

If you're willing to go for a home-run you don't do Garrett. You just do Baun and Williams and you keep all your draft picks, while Howie does his magic in the draft. Don't need to over-think this. Sets your defense up great for the next few years while Garrett is in his age 30 season and is riskier and will ask for a huge contract within a year. Defense stays mostly intact and less risky of upsetting the great chemistry. One thing that's being understated is Williams's positional versatility, which I'm sure Fangio loves, as can play some defensive end as well. Davis and Ojomo can't do this. He's going to increase his snaps next year with a new contract to warrant the cost. Move him up to 60-65% snaps. Trade Davis and draft a defensive tackle to replace him and we still maintain great depth and can afford Carter. Cowboys are willing to pay Osa Odighizuwa and Howie should do the same with Williams, as long it's similar numbers. That's my plan, but I'm not Howie.

Yeah, that makes more sense vs abandoning the youth movement that just won them a SB with one of the most dominating defenses since the Ravens first SB. Why throw that out the window to trade picks and massive cap space for a guy who's 29 and has maybe 3-4 good years left? They are nailing picks left and right, Vic seems to have a very good eye for talent, and it's the deepest DL draft in years.

Plus, as good as Howie is he kind of sucks at trades if we are being honest. Stick to FA and the draft. It just paid off 3 weeks ago.
