The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

I've never understood the hate from some people. He's been terrific on the field and he seems like a genuinely good guy, helping Q and DeJean, always with a smile. Great captain and player that I'll remember as one of the great CBs we've had.

Why are they called apartments if they’re all stuck together?

I went down to the convenience store that said open 24 hours, when I got there the guy was locking up. I said the sign says "open 24 hours” … the guy looked at me and said "not in a row”

Because people are Fing morons.

I understand that Slay may be able to play good for another year, but it's time.

Rather move on with the youth movement since we already have depth at the position.

He'll be remembered fondly here.

It's not hate. He's 34 with a large cap hit. At that age, he could fall off quick. If he comes back at a lower number, great. If not, Rodgers is young and cheaper

We were never paying Slay $16mm for 2025. I had some hope that we might do a Sweat type deal with him where he cut that to market (like $8 million) and stayed, but guessing he wants to go see what his market is out there. We announced we were cutting him in 2023 only to resign him, so maybe he gets market intel and then comes back on a reduced deal. If not, then thanks for the memories -- he was a great trade acquisition that worked out.

Hopefully Rodgers is back and battles Ringo for CB2.

Agree, really hoping Rodgers is back. IMO one of the best things the Eagles did this year is get younger in the secondary, going back to the collapse the year prior and especially and TB playoff loss they looked old and slow.

Slay will land in Detroit is my bet

It will be interesting to see what the Eagles do now to address that open spot

Great trade, great player.

Thank you Darius!

Him signing with the Lions is definitely possible I guess, but they have Carlton Davis and Arnold there and some other young guys in the mix. Not sure why they'd even want Slay tbh.

I think he'll be back

But why? The guy played very well at the end of last year and he only wants to play one more and retire. Keep the continuity and worry about the rest in a year. If it's money that's one thing, but I'd gladly take him back for one more.

Davis is a free agent. Slay said he only wanted to play for Detroit or Philly, so I guess he'll see where's the best fit for him and make a decision.

If he does come back, I think he'd sort of be "free" considering the dead cap he's leaving.

I'd be surprised if he came back again. The timing this time vs 2023 is giving him a head start on free agency since he can talk to teams now. He also said he was basically packing up his bags to go play for Baltimore until Eagles made a comparable offer. It would have to be like Maddox last year where he had zero interest from anyone and the Eagles gave him vet minimum. I think Slay can get a one year deal somewhere for a little bit of money.

Just the way all this played out makes it seem they are very far apart on what Slay wants and what Eagles are willing to give.

Current depth chart.

I'd like to add Baun and Rodgers soon.  A lot of work to do.

Remember....Howie asked that we be patient.

We did great on our return here with Slay. Didn't think he would  be here this long. Dont think he wants to give a huge hometown discount and he would rather optimize his last year of salary following a Superbowl. He got his ring! So time to let Ringo sink or swim as a starter. It's his 3rd year and he should be ready. Think he will be solid overall. Seems to be around the ball and covered boundaries well in times we've seen him. Is he Slay? Of course not. But he's cheap for 2 more years.

Feel this way about Steen as well with right guard. Going have to let some of these draft picks get a chance while being on a cheap contract. Can't have proven pro bowlers at every position and pay everyone.

What I've always loved about Slay was his well-roundedness. Quickness, long speed, size, ball skills, man/zone, tackling (wasn't elite by any means, 100X better than our last star at CB). Equally special is his longevity. I don't know how any of us could have projected we'd get close to the same Slay at 34 that we got at 29. Hell of a player.

So that's why they honored him before the SB, which would've been weird if he didn't retire. Bradshaw probably only has a year or so left. Gronk sucks. FOX gonna be very different going forward. Howie Long is the best analyst though of any of those shows.

If he doesn’t come back then I wish him well when he’s not playing against us

Having good to great DBs is something we haven’t had in awhile. Plus his attitude again meshed well and he was clearly a great mentor to the young guys

Have to lean on Vic here. If he thinks Ringo is ready, then ok. But it seems like a big ask, Ringo has been just ok, but we are a championship team. You can't gamble and have an obvious black hole in the defense across from Mitchell. Maybe we look at the free agent market. I can't see Howie going CB around 1 again either.

I liked them so much more than any of the others. They had great chemistry while talking about the game

Oh yeah! Will have to bring in a lower priced vet to challenge him. Maybe Rodgers. But not spending big money here.

In the Philly Special podcast they noted that two strong outside CBs lets Vic do interesting things in the middle of the field.

I would imagine it would have been very difficult to eliminate Kelce like they did in the SB if Vic didn't trust his CBs to take care of their sides of the field.
