Current depth chart.

I'd like to add Baun and Rodgers soon.  A lot of work to do.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

Oh yeah! Will have to bring in a lower priced vet to challenge him. Maybe Rodgers. But not spending big money here.

Bringing Rodgers back wouldn't impact our comp picks in 2026.

Even if they sign Rodgers (which I fully expect them to now), I hope Howie looks at RD4-RD5 for CB depth. There are some potential gems to be found.

My dude is Mello Dotson from Kansas. Probably still there at pick 129.

I wonder if the most logical solution is to play Coop at CB2 in base, then slide him into the slot in nickel and have Ringo/Rodgers come on the field in nickel only. Makes sense, if Coop can handle it, to get your best players on the field. Plus, Coop is more physical so he can tackle against the run in base.

I know we mainly play nickel, but this would make the most sense moving forward to me.

Love Slay. A champ. Great mentor. Will be remembered as a great Eagle!

At the same time, had to move up. Given his age, cap and presence of Ringo...it's time.

Kind of think after first wave and maybe even second that if there’s a veteran corner they like who maybe dealt with injuries or a down year that they take a shot on them on a 1 year prove it deal.

While I wouldn't consider it likely, if CB1 or CB2 are still available when the Eagles pick at 32 and all the DL they love in that range are gone, I wouldn't totally rule out another CB. Again, not likely. I still would say it'll 90% be DL or OL(with DL most likely, Howie is chomping at the bit after taking 2024 off from drafting DL in rounds 1-2) but I don't think CB is impossible at 32. To have a young stud secondary you could build around for years to come.

But I think signing Rodgers and letting him battle it out in camp with Ringo is most likely. Or Slay coming back of his market sucks, and let's face it, it probably will. He's 34.

I would hope there's some chance he comes back depending on his market.

Ringo isn't even 23 yet. If you said pre-2023 draft that Ringo could sit behind Slay for 2 years and learn under Fangio/Parker, most of us would be over the moon for his potential. Hope he steps up.

Hey!  Back from vacation.

So now that the combine is over, which shiny-object, non-lineman are we taking trading up from #32 for?

Jihaad Campbell, but to be fair he has Edge chops as well as ILB chops.

Can't see us trading up for him, but YES we should draft him. Would be a weapon under Vic.

I like Ringo outside and keeping Coop where he is but I think your point is well taken.  They are going to be in nickel as their base defense and Cooper gives them more flexibility to stay in nickel because of his physicality.  I think the preference should be to keep Coop on the field even if that means moving him outside.

I called this in January regarding Slay, this isn't a surprise and even Slay knew it was coming.  Still sucks but thank you Slay for all you did for the Eagles, and your wife's boobies!!

PS...Bradberry is definitely next, the two combined for about 9mm in cap room with post June 1st designations

Sucks because he's still playing well, but I get it. At that age you can fall off at any time. It's just gonna be weird from his perspective to sign with some random team for one year and just retire. I want to see what his market is. And wonder if he'd come back later in the year if there's no market for him.

Until then, Rodgers is definitely coming back.

The question I have is whether this is because of potential drop off in play or simply to avoid the roster bonus.

Slay will land in Detroit is my bet

It will be interesting to see what the Eagles do now to address that open spot

I would think they may try harder to keep Rodgers but they may think it's time to give Ringo a chance.

I could see Howie bringing him back on a much cheaper 1 year deal, say $6-$8m if other options don’t work out

That is my thought as well.

Slay was one of Howie's better trades throughout his career and while there were some ups and downs he was really good for the Eagles over the years. That being said, it was time to move on and not even just because of the cap hit. Better to lose a player one year too soon than one year too late, and at 34 and with the history of getting banged up it was the right move at the right time. There is absolutely no need to bring him back even on a cheaper deal. I'm hoping they bring back Rodgers and have an open camp competition between he and Ringo but I would even be fine signing a decent vet to a cheap one year deal to do the same. Ringo is still young and after two years of sitting and learning could surprise some people next season as there is a lot of upside there.

Respect to Slay All Day, been a solid player and leader. Not surprising but would be nice if they did bring him back to end his career here rather than somewhere else. But also excited about Rodgers & Ringo being ready to step up and trusting the coaches on that.

I liked them so much more than any of the others. They had great chemistry while talking about the game

Jimmie and Howie Long were always a pleasure to listen to.

Jimmy Johnson retiring when it should clearly be Terry Bradshaw.
