I wonder if the most logical solution is to play Coop at CB2 in base, then slide him into the slot in nickel and have Ringo/Rodgers come on the field in nickel only. Makes sense, if Coop can handle it, to get your best players on the field. Plus, Coop is more physical so he can tackle against the run in base.

I know we mainly play nickel, but this would make the most sense moving forward to me.

With Vic’s light front and only two LBs there will almost always be 5 in the defensive backfield.  No sense in sliding DeJean to the outside for just a few snaps unless the OCB needs a breather.

I hope they keep all of their guys, the Bengals have a good team with promise and would be cool to see them bounce back in 2025. Burrow is too good not to do right by him.

I don’t think Sydney or McCollum have done much to inspire confidence, and Cine is just a nice story at this point.

I’m not following logically the arguments that propose cutting or trading our good players w/o a replacement plan worked out.

Jimmy Johnson retiring when it should clearly be Terry Bradshaw.

Bradshaw should've retired years ago. They need new blood on that show.

No.

Why do so many of our fans have an obsession with trading away players that make up the #1 defense in the NFL?

The secondary was hot garbage for awhile there and we finally have talent. None of them are expendable.

Very surprised the tag is that "low" for WRs seeing hoe the top guys are making $32-$35M per now.

What does the idea of trading an important starter for a 4th or 5th round draft pick not excite you?

I think they'll try to get Reed extended on an affordable deal.  If he turns that down then we'll see what happens with playing time but I think they'll make a deal

One thing I think the Eagles are gonna do going forward is going back to locking up players during the season and not worrying about upsetting the apple cart anymore. It's just bad business not to even if it may lead to a more harmonious locker room.

I think and saw someone comment somewhere also that it also seems like they really like Eli Ricks as he held a roster spot all year even though he didn’t play.

Bengals with all time bold strategy of negotiating with both your star WR's at the same time, planning to make one of them the highest paid non QB in the NFL.

Actually, they used to do that. This year at the SB media week, Howie was asked about it. He said he didn't want to give only certain players extensions in season and cause issues in the locker room with other guys wondering why they didn't get their extension. It could be a different approach each season, but he knew what he was facing and decided to wait until after the season.

Part of that could be waiting to see how they perform through the whole season. Sweat performed more toward the end and in the playoffs, but also Nolan Smith and Hunt stepped up and contributed more. So having the full season helps with decisions on who to keep and what young players are ready to step up. Fangio could have been part of that as well.

They have always been a cheap franchise.  My guess is they really would prefer to trade him and they think this gives them more leverage.

We did just win the Super Bowl with a together locker room using that approach

I went down to the convenience store that said open 24 hours, when I got there the guy was locking up. I said the sign says "open 24 hours” … the guy looked at me and said "not in a row”

I went to the general store, but I couldn't find anything specific.

Winning with the approach and winning because of it are two entirely different things. The former is objective, the latter us subjective and unprovable.

Ultimately though, bottom line always wins out in life and Howie mentioned it hurting them monetarily after the season for a reason. I think they will go back to it next season and I don't think ultimately it will hurt the locker room all that much if at all.

There was a power outage at a department store yesterday. Twenty people were trapped on the escalators.

Is it me or do people talk about Burrow like he hasnt had beasts at the skilled positions?

Keep an eye out for this one with Howie, but I'd hope he doesn't surrender a high pick, he's been a major bust so far. I'd rather just draft one tbh, but he could be good insurance in case the draft TEs get scooped up before you pick. I saw someone propose swapping Huff for Mayer. Not sure why the Raiders do that though.

Raiders beat writer.

Eagles trading Goedert away and trading for Mayer would solve some issues...

I guess Mahomes is mid.

The last 2 years, he is a 10-12ish stats QB just on passing then he looses out big time to Hurts, Allen, Lamar, Daniels, and others with running factored in. The NFL does not care about 2018 and 2021 numbers. Dude is a SB sack and turnover machine who had the good fortune to face Shanahan 2x and get a slick field to stop a deadly speed rush.

BUT SBs!!!!  16 sacks, 7 picks, 6 fumbles (lucky bounces to only 1 lost)

  • Montana was 6 sacks, 0 picks, 2(0) fumbles
  • Kelly was 11 sacks, 7 picks, and 4(3) fumbles
  • Which of the two does Mahomes more closely resemble?

Mahomes looks like Marino after the decline... until he doesn't. We can revise this next year if he plays better.

Mahomes is not a top 50 NFL player right now but the 10th QB might be 62 or so.

He's top 10 for sure and top 5 likely at the QB position all-time but all-time has nothing to do with right now.

If we were pretending this was the 2023 offseason and counting 2018-2022 then he is up at the top with Rodgers and Aaron Donald.

The 2 weeks to the playoff runup was : That Eagles are better everywhere but Mahomes magic.

2 massive ref assist games and a Jim Kelly game is not magic. He's not making the SB next year and he's not facing Shanahan in the next 10 years.
