WTF?

"Goedert is the ideal TE for Hurts. Huge catch radius, great blocker, great YAC, can be Target 1 if needed, doesn't **** if Hurts ignores him for a month."

How TF do you read that and think I said just "adequate 4th option"?

You are straw manning again. Read what I said, I was referencing your comment about Goedert not complaining if he barely gets the ball for a month. That is also the reality of the TE position for this offense. It will always be behind Saquon, AJ, and Smith. Dotson could also potentially have more involvement if they choose to downgrade at TE. Either way, trying up 14 million in cap space for a 30 year old oft injured Goedert wouldn't be smart.

Lol Apparently Mahomes and Burrow are mid

Yes and Yes. Gesicki is another option who shouldn't break the bank. I would imagine they go young and really cheap though if Goedert gets traded.

Gesicki might get paid more. Was great value last year.  He and Ertz and not blockers.  I think Eagles are best served with a very good blocker who can catch a few balls here and there but isn't a high volume target

The most moronic exchange I've ever had here, my god. It's like someone taught you to point and scream "straw man" every time you're called out for a dumb comment.

Right now. The TE in this offense is almost like Dotson at WR3. Underutilized. They won't see the ball much with playmakers such as Hurts, AJ, Devanta and Barkley with the ball in their hands. And it makes sense. Anyone who they get will be pretty wide open in this offense and why GC worked out just fine last year when filling in. But need to add there for sure.

We agree on one thing as it is absolutely is moronic. Advocating for Goedert being a good allocation of cap dollars at 14 million when he is 30, has missed 14 games over the last three seasons, and it at best the 4th option in the offense is indeed moronic. Thankfully you aren't the one in charge of making decisions for the Eagles.

Good points. A veteran blocker who can catch the ball a little bit, GC, and a rookie draft pick in the 2nd-4th round range will be more than adequate in this offense and save about 8 million in much needed cap space.

Is Ertz a FA? Could we sign him to a one-year deal and draft a replacement this year?

Ertz is a very very different TE from Goedert.  Very good at what he does, but not good at a lot of what Goedert does.  Calcaterra and Ertz are much more alike.

Would love to draft Taylor but seems obvious Miami will pick him

From what I've heard Goedert isn't the blocker he used to be but certainly better than Ertz & Calc

I hope they keep all of their guys, the Bengals have a good team with promise and would be cool to see them bounce back in 2025. Burrow is too good not to do right by him.

I would very much enjoy playing them and beating them in SB60!  Them or Buffalo. For sure I thought it would be the Bills against the Eagles in SB59.

For those projecting what Trader Howie might do in the Draft, here is the history of trades of picks 32 (and 31), 64, 96, 129, 162, 166 and 170 (there were no trades of 169) over the years.

2017   31 = 34, 111

2012   31, 126 = 36, 101

2019   31, 203 = 45, 79

2014   32 = 40, 108 227

2018   32, 132 = 52, 125, next 2nd

2008   64 = 66, 176

2018   64 = 67, 178

2020   64 = 69, 148

1993   64 = 82, 104

2006   64 = 83, 95

2005   64 = 84, 195, next 3rd

2009   64, 132 = 79, 84

2001   96 = 112, 139

2002   96 = 112, 155

2022   96 = 179, next 3rd

1999   96 = 99, 171

2015   96, 219 = 111, 147, 202

2023   96 = 122, 138, 168

2024   129 = 173, 176

2021   129 = 137, 217

2011   129, 204 = 141, 186

2021   162, 226 = 175, 207

2019   163 = 167, 246

2010   163 = 174, 219

2011   163 = 174, 231

2011   163 = 179, 218

2024   163 = 168, 219

2022   166 = 174, 226

2003   166 = 185, 244

2021   170 = 174, 233

2022   170 = 183,245

1999   170 = 187, 191

2001   170 = next 5th

2023   170 = 204, 220

We need Paco to make a Visio chart of what this year’s picks might bring, and then match each resultant pick with the projected players with + or - 5 of that pick on a selected consensus Big Board like Tankathon.

I'm good with Hawes as a blocker and someone else as a receiver even Calc if it means I keep D players

I agree.  I have Hawes as a plus player on my Board.  The question is where he goes.

Man who let Field Yates into Kipers hair dye stash??

The last 2 years, he is a 10-12ish stats QB just on passing then he looses out big time to Hurts, Allen, Lamar, Daniels, and others with running factored in. The NFL does not care about 2018 and 2021 numbers. Dude is a SB sack and turnover machine who had the good fortune to face Shanahan 2x and get a slick field to stop a deadly speed rush.

BUT SBs!!!!  16 sacks, 7 picks, 6 fumbles (lucky bounces to only 1 lost)

  • Montana was 6 sacks, 0 picks, 2(0) fumbles
  • Kelly was 11 sacks, 7 picks, and 4(3) fumbles
  • Which of the two does Mahomes more closely resemble?

Mahomes looks like Marino after the decline... until he doesn't. We can revise this next year if he plays better.

Mahomes is not a top 50 NFL player right now but the 10th QB might be 62 or so.

He's top 10 for sure and top 5 likely at the QB position all-time but all-time has nothing to do with right now.

If we were pretending this was the 2023 offseason and counting 2018-2022 then he is up at the top with Rodgers and Aaron Donald.

The 2 weeks to the playoff runup was : That Eagles are better everywhere but Mahomes magic.

2 massive ref assist games and a Jim Kelly game is not magic. He's not making the SB next year and he's not facing Shanahan in the next 10 years.

6 fumbles (lucky bounces to only 1 lost)

Crazy good luck w the bounces.

NFL pregame needs more Rob Riggle

Do the whole thing next year with him just doing impressions of all the others. Use the savings to hire somebody the year after who is worth watching.

I’d rather beat KC again.

Calcaterra can catch and it sure seemed like he improved as a blocker.

Gronk was a horrible addition. They like to just stick the recent retirees into these because they were popular in their career when they suck as a commentator or during the halftime and pregame discussion

Gronk and Bradshaw combine to make that show unwatchable

Counterpoint, KC gets eliminated in the wildcard or divisional round and we crush some other team's hopes and dreams in the SB to get our back to back (wow that would be something).

C'mon, that would be great, too.
