Eagles DT Milton Williams is set to have a strong free agent market with the #Patriots expected among top suitors, I’m told. More here:

I might just start pasting text in here, because it seems like every other time I try to embed a tweet, for some reason this board software can't handle it. It either shows a blank space or it says "There is no tweet at the link" which is wrong. It's honestly getting kind of annoying.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

It's super dark when using the dark mode theme if you don't use ctrl shift paste. It seems to mess with the pasting format

It's a mess all around

Oh, someone will definitely sign him. Something like the contract Gilmore got with the Vikings for 1 year, $7mm.

Honestly, if he's below that, I think Howie may bring him back. 1 year, $5mm gteed with incentives could make sense.

If Alexander is released, it doesn’t hurt our comp picks if we signed him. That said he’s always hurt and probably out of our budget.

With that board I think Derrick Harmon is the pick there.  My answer might be different after free agency, but assuming Milton Williams is gone I would restock DT.  I'm not as ready to anoint Ojomo as some others on here.

Here is the Board they had to choose from

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath, and frankly, as good as he was once upon a time, I don't know that he's close to what he was.  Of course, that's why he's likely to be available.  Do not want.  I'd rather roll with our youth than to spend too much on broken down vets.

The Birds pick at about the 1:27:00 mark.  I’m interested what the people think, and specifically who they would take if the board fell this way.

Assuming Becton leaves I’d be fine with it. If he’s re-signed as I suspect, then go with Harmon. Realistically, Booker won’t be there though.

I didn't realize how fragile he is. Seems to get injured pretty often

Why do fans insist on players retiring before they want to? He wants to play one more season. Every player gets dinged up every season because ... football. For all the minor injuries Slay has had, he has never had a major one in his NFL career. He's still very capable of being a starter in this league and could potentially play at a Pro Bowl level still. But the most important thing to him is that there comes a day when a player will never be able to play professional football again and that day hasn't come yet. How does playing another season tarnish a legacy? Everything he has already accomplished will still be accomplished even if his next season is unremarkable. This whole idea of "going out a champ" really is strange. Should Nolan Smith retire just in case he doesn't win another one?

How many CBs are still playing at a high level at 35? And dude was getting hurt every single game and missing chunks, it's not going to get easier. This year was also a bounce back, he did not look good last year.  He's due for a massive drop off, another year older and already constantly getting hurt during games.

I didn't say just playing another season tarnishes his legacy. Playing a season here he's likely not going to be playing at a high level and is constantly missing chunks of games for injuries (like peters his last year here) will do that. And not in the "it takes away from everything he did", that's stupid and again no one said that. Don't know why you just decide to make up your own argument, a lot of people said literally the same thing when it was happening to Peters.

And nice false equivalency competing a 24 year old DL to a 35 year old CB. Perfect 1:1 comparison.

Save the money and roll with the young DBs, would rather spend that money on keeping baun or becton than 1 year of slay

Exactly.  We are not passing on DLs with first round grades.

We have been successful taking day-two quality iOL and handing them off to Stoutland.

Eh… we’ve taken two guys in Dickerson and Jurgens who were first round talents in the second round who were only available because they are interior lineman and positional value made them drop.

Booker would definitely fit that drafting style at 32.

I'm not confident in a 35 year old CB maintaining a high level of play, especially considering he missed parts of a ton of games this year because he was getting banged up. Some people are confident and that's fine, I'm not.

Milton getting more than this, so he gone.

Interested to see what Milton gets compared to him. I think it'll be close.

Osa is pretty good - I think that's a accurate salary comp for Milton.

Looking at Slay’s snap counts does confirm that beginning with Week 3 he was missing a few or a lot of snaps. However, he was fully available the last five games of the season, as well as the Playoffs.

I think Milton will get at least 10% more, possibly 20%.

Milton is a FA though, whereas Osa was being tagged.

Ah, that's a good point.

Milton was the 2nd best DT on the team, where as Osa is clearly the best DL on the Cowboys.  So, the Cowboys had to keep Osa, whereas the Eagles can afford to let Milton walk and look to spend elsewhere. Milton will get more than Osa, no doubt.  His deal will approach the deal McNeill got from the Lions.  Likely in the 4 year, $88+M area, IMO.

Yeah, probably very similar deal, not much more than that.

Yeah, I was thinking around 22-24mm AAV on a 4 year deal

Howie already feels that 3rd rd comp pick burning a hole in his pocket
