I have 7.6 because I include the 250k workout bonus. Not sure how those are treated.

Are these people counting in the escalators and incentives he had on his deal? When he signed it, it had about 10m$ in incentives IIRC. Any incentives he hit in 2024 were going to be applied to the 2025 cap. I know he had a SB one, probably had some rushing yards ones too

so it may have said 6m$ back in October, but it wasn’t 6m$ anymore

It's what it said 15 minutes ago. I posted the screenshot above

I think people are just using this tweet from March 2024 even though they ended up adjusting after more details came out

Not sure what to make of the Barley extension.

I am sure that they are going all-in on 2026 compensatory picks.  Williams, Sweat, and Becton will walk. Howie needs lots of guys on rookie deals to offset the dollars to stars.

Steen is ready to be the RG - we won all five games where he played 40+ snaps.  We will draft a quality DT at #32 who will be able to immediately contribute lining up next to Carter.  Not sure about the plan for Edge yet, but through my green tinted glasses I see Huff being a rotational contributor in 2025.

At RG i really wouldn’t be shocked if the Steelers release seumalo if he’s not brought back in. Doesn’t hurt the comp picks and he likely wouldn’t be super expensive. I’m guessing the organization is still comfortable with him.

Howie has earned our patience. He has multiple moves in mind, been planning since the regular season.

We just won the 2nd SB in 7 years after a long drought of almost 60 years. I'm fine with rewarding a player or 2 for that effort if that's part of what he's doing.

And just to be clear, Barkley was already at a minimum salary for 2025 and his option bonus was being amortized over the maximum of 5 years. The only way to have created cap space would be to take his $1.75mm in "other bonuses" per OTC and add to the roster bonus, freeing up $1.4mm.

I don’t see Booker as even a good scheme fit - as he isn’t particularly nimble for zone blocking. He’s 40lbs lighter than Becton but not as fast and likely as agile.

Booker may not be fast but he makes up for it by not being quick either. Stoutland likes OL who can move (as do I). I've seen him rated as a first rounder but that seems absurd to me. I completely agree that he is not a scheme fit for us.

The problem is it opens a door you don't really want open though. Why should CJGJ now not ask for more money after 1 year of his 3 year deal?

You don't actually say anything other that you have a random weird lame opinion based on hypotheticals in your own pocket universe.

You had said "Imagine if Hurts went into this SB like Mahomes"

I said "Hurts wouldn't even sniff the Superbowl if he had the lack of talent that Mahomes had"

Put the bottle down, it's far too early

I haven't paid attention to his career after he left us. Good or bad?

Was he a product of Stout and the great players next to him?

He also played on a stacked team. So the stats get spread out.

"They” are saying the scheme might have something to do with Scourton, Stewart and Turner not showing up on the stat sheet. Stewart does have the measurables that align with Walker… so him going well ahead of our pick despite the lack of production won’t be surprising.

Because he wasn't a MVP finalist.

That kills any conversation.

If he loses even a small step he's better than most. And still has the power going for him. Kind of like Henry. As long as they don't run him into the ground and preserve him, he will age better than most. Also has less tread, as he didn't play in the playoffs much for 6 years and averaged 200 snaps per year before last year. He's a work out freak on top of it. Playing behind this offensive line also keeps him pretty clean. Barely breaks a sweat most weeks.

I’m talking about losing a big step. And even if it’s just small, his contract immediately becomes terrible. His whole value is the explosiveness.

It doesn't. Reddick was never MVP finalist and it didn't stop him.

And it certainly paid off for him

Reddick played through the 2nd year of his deal. It was after two consecutive back to back underpaid years that it was a problem. He made the PB each of those 2 years too.

This is my worry as well.

There’s also the issue of just general decline given his age and workload.

Every RBs injury risk is about the same. The more you carry in a year, the more you have a chance to get hurt (just like going for the rushing record was a risk) Most of the player x got hurt or faded because workload is the battering ram grinder RB types like Earl Campbell and Eddie George. Seeking contact that often is a bad idea.

There is no magic number between 320 touches and 400 touches that makes players brittle.

From 2019- now King Henry got hurt one year and was hobbled for the playoffs one year. (2020 and 2021) That's random, not workload.

Saquon got hurt the same way that Randall x2, Rodgers x2, and Brady got hurt. Injuries happen in football.

Eric Dickerson missed 3 games in his first 7 years with max workload.

Yep Barkley literally just had more rushing yards than anyone ever in a season.

If you think the Chiefs have a lack of talent, I win.

You want to go for bad coaching and bad ownership while you are at it?

Sure but he still approached the Eagles after the first year about redoing his deal. So the conversation happened.

Eagles got lucky and Reddick played good soldier. Who knows what will happen next time now that the Eagles showed they will give out contracts one year into a multi-year deal.

Reddick clearly outplayed his contract he was an elite pass rusher. Top 4 in the NFL in production. CJGJ was probably the weakest starter on defense this season. I actually think the Eagles gave him more than he deserved considering he only got 8 million from Detroit the year before and came off a much better season in 2022 where he led the entire NFL in INTs.

Thinking more about this, and it really feels like they basically guaranteed Barkley's existing deal and all the incentives (he had ~8.25mm in incentives in the deal). He was already owed $29mm for 2025 and 2026 with the kicked in 2025 incentives, so they basically guaranteed the rest to get to $36mm in guaranteed money. Makes his original deal a 3 year year, $49.75mm deal fully gteed effectively. The 2 year extension at $42mm is pure fluff. What they really did was guarantee his existing deal and all escalators basically.

Compared to the Eagles, they do.

Sleep through the Superbowl?

Berman thinks this increases the chances the Eagles get Garrett.

Rich Eisen said Cleveland has no desire to trade him currently and might wait until after the draft for picks from next year's draft which is viewed as being stronger
