I am not worried about the cap. I recognize it is limited and we can’t sign or re-sign everyone but I am not going to criticize contracts Howie gives out. I’ll have opinions about the players but I don’t care much about the contract numbers

If this was a stronger draft, I'd think about it. 

But otherwise, we're moving off AJ Brown for the #4 pick....for who?  Carter's gonna be off the board.  Probably Ward and Sanders are gonna be gone.  Travis Hunter surely isn't worth it.  Who else is there at 4 that will be a bigger difference maker than AJ?

I agree with this. Abdul Carter is the only player worth selling out for. 

Now, I'd pay quite a bit in draft collateral to move up for Mason Graham. 

This is how speculation and rumors go. Some fan or local media knucklehead podcast throws out a wild idea. Then fans start talking about it as if it has any merit. Then some other show runs with it, with a hot take that is obviously click/ratings bait and then fans say "there's some smoke" or "it's being reported."

Nah, there isnt an obvious target for me at #4 (would be Carter or Hunter). If its Carter, then we have no clear plan with the picks we would have left to replace the best receiver on this team. If its Hunter, why do it on a team that has SB aspirations when I already have AJ who is already one of the best in the game.

Its the combo of these receivers, Saquon and threat of Hurts using his legs that makes this O go. Pick your poison but you can't defend everything - you need a very clear reason to be taking away from that.

Let's see what happens with our big 4 free agents before we say "everyone that deserves it gets paid on the eagles". I like all the positivity we are getting but we're most likely not bringing all 4 free agents back and all 4 played their asses off and deserve extensions.

Would be tough.  Van Buren led the league in rushing 4 times in his career - including 3 straight, and was the first RB EVER to reach 1000 yards twice in his career.  And retired as the all-time leading rusher in the NFL, the all-time leader in rushing touchdowns, and led the team to BACK TO BACK Championships.    Not to mention he had the top TWO rushing seasons in yards and TDs when he retired as well.  

 

 

It would be hard for him to overtake that level of a resume.  BUT, becoming the first RB ever to have 2 2000+ yard seasons would go a long way towards that.    Barkley did overtake his single game record for rushing for the franchise (though Lesean McCoy had already over taken that).    And overtook the record for most rushing yards in a playoff game (205 for Barkley vs. 196 for Van Buren).

If we are trading a starting WR, Smith is the guy to move. Brown is not only a better player, but a much better fit for a run first, ball control and defense style.

Theres no reason to trade him. Hes in the prime of his career, we are trying to repeat as Super Bowl champions, the cap hit would be enormous, and we can’t replace him.

No.  Pick 4 and 69 wouldn't be enough to get Brown by himself.  A trade before June 1 would cost the Eagles $31M in dead money on the cap.   He's not getting traded.  Only a post-June 1 trade would lower the cap hit.  $10.7M dead if traded post-June 1 (as opposed to his current cost at $17.5M).
