The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

If tutu atwell is out there after the first two waves of FA I’d think about signing him if he’s cheap. Hes a fine 4th-5th wr. Didn’t have experience with returns in college but his rookie year he did returned some punts and kicks.

I would take Keenan Allen if he wanted to chase a ring on a cheap deal.

I don't want Hargrave back here - spent too much time in SF - don't want that stench

Just looking at the top 3 contracts, they could shift ~15mm for Mahomes, ~12mm for Jones and ~18mm for Taylor into option bonuses. $45mm amortized over 5 years -- opens up 36mm in space. $16mm from trading Thuney, and they will gain probably another ~14mm from extending Smith. So they can easily create $66mm in space, if Hunt is willing to write the checks.

I said this a page or two back, it makes sense to me that they traded thuney if they weren’t gonna pay both guard spots. I’m guessing they had no desire. They save 16 million dealing thuney and can allocate some of that to signing the 25-year-old tray Smith. Thuney being 32 they didn’t want to extend him.

The issue for the Chiefs is they’re moving Kingsley from tackle to guard. He was awful at tackle last year. So even if he does work out at guard, you still have issues at both tackle positions. Maybe they sign Ronnie Stanley but I’m not sure he just automatically goes to the chiefs.

I believe Kingsley Suamataia, a former 2nd rounder, will be given a shot to become a guard, stepping in for the former All-Pro.

Was he injured when they played in the Super Bowl?

No they benched him during the season and moved thuney to LT

Think jones makes more sense just cause fangio had him in Denver and got the best out of him. Plus he’s only 28 compared to Hargraves being 32. So there’s the potential that if Jones plays well in 2025, he could walk away and they get a compensatory pick or they can re-sign him and he still here for another 2 to 3 years.

Clint Hurtt also coached him in Seattle

I feel like the Chiefs have gotten a little too cocky, especially after they were able to win after moving off Tyreek. Mahomes can cover up a lot, but he can't cover up a bad line. Hunt is notoriously cheap, so they can't maximize deferred money with option bonuses like we can. Thuney was $16mm in cash this year that they will now save, but 1 year, $16mm for a pro bowl guard isn't bad. He walks at year end, and maybe you get a comp pick, but since there are no void years on his deal, there would have been no dead money in 2026. This way, they get a 2026 4th instead of a 2027 comp pick, but now have another hole on a line that just got abused. And take a ~10mm cap charge.

We are very lucky that Lurie is willing to structure contracts the way we do.

Have to imagine that the commies go after one of the top 5 up there even after the deebo trade. I can see them just going all out trying to help daniels at the cost of the defense

Chiefs are going to have to restructure guys, Kelce is coming back and has a big contract and has declined, other teams are going to follow the Bucs/Eagles blueprint on defense against them, they're in for a Super Bowl hangover year, which for them might just mean losing the AFCCG.

So they thought Caliendo was better than him last month. Interesting plan

I know they drafted some guys along the offensive line hoping they’d develop, but they never should’ve their LT and RT spots to get in the position they are in. Taylor is not good and they shouldn’t have paid him. The fact that you already had two questionable spots on the offensive line now you’ve created a third. Frankly smith should’ve never gotten to this point where you had to franchise him. Feels like Reid and chiefs have done a poor job rebuilding their OL outside of creed and smith. And devalued what the OL would give mahomes by letting some of these guys like Orlando brown and thuney go and allowing smith to get to this stage where he needed to be franchised.

what amazes me about this is that the one major thing the Eagles took from Andy Reid was build through the trenches. You have to be better than the other team in the trenches. And they’ve managed to continuously get worse over the last 4 years at that and make poor decisions.

I think him or Jones are possibilities for the Eagles. But they may just roll with Ojomo and draft one and not address it at all, we'll see. I think they add an Edge or a DT in FA.

Hey why not. If BG wants to come back we can have 3 DL coming back from a torn triceps!

Did Dre'Mont Jones play mostly LB last year?  He was the same exact same size/weight as Milton Williams when he was in Denver but Sportrac had him listed at LB and that 55 is messing with me.  He also seems skinnier in picture below

It really hurt their run game too. Fran Duffy brought up before the Super Bowl, since they made that move to Caliendo and moving Joe thuney out to left tackle, 50% of their runs went for one yard or less. They were bad running the ball once they made that move.

I said the other day, I would’ve kept thuney, creed and Smith as my interior against the Eagles. That interior is really good. One of the best in football. They probably would have at least somewhat decent chance with the Eagles interior pass rush. Now their tackles would’ve been a problem. But I would’ve just helped the crap out of the tackles since thuney wasn’t good enough at LT and your interior was made weaker by moving him out, the eagles could feast from the edge and inside. They basically made themselves weaker in the interior to get a still deficient LT

I think Zach Berman said yesterday once he was made a post June 1 cut, he is able to sign at any point in time. So you don’t have to wait until the new league year starts. Like the Eagles did with signing Malik Jackson.

Seattle fans didn't have the best things to say about Jones. Said he mostly sucked and was highly disappointing.

They hated Hurtt too fwiw. In any case Jones as a 3rd option seems fine. If you were paying him as a starter no

Chiefs organization will never admit it, but i think they’d have been fine with kelce retiring. They cut him they save 17.2 mil. He basically had a Jordan Matthews 2016 season (Matthews actually higher yards per reception). Where he just got peppered with targets and had a really low yards per catch averaging 8.5 yards. had 3 total tds on the year. had a couple good games but mostly wasn’t the player with the value of his contract. His cap number is 19.8 mil this year (19.5 in 2024). He wasn’t worth that number last year and likely not in 2025

Jones has experience with Hurtt/Fangio AND won't hurt our comp picks. We could use a veteran DT especially if Milton walks. Jones struggled enough last year that he won't cost a ton. Easy add for me.

No idea why it won’t imbed the tweet, but Tom Pelissaro had an article on under the radar FAs who will cash in. He projects guard Aaron Banks to make $18-20M per year. Becton is gonna get PAID PAID.

That Taylor contract looks terrible.  He got abused in the Super Bowl.
