No idea why it won’t imbed the tweet, but Tom Pelissaro had an article on under the radar FAs who will cash in. He projects guard Aaron Banks to make $18-20M per year. Becton is gonna get PAID PAID.

It’s baffling that he’ll get paid more than Baun

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

Chiefs organization will never admit it, but i think they’d have been fine with kelce retiring. They cut him they save 17.2 mil. He basically had a Jordan Matthews 2016 season (Matthews actually higher yards per reception). Where he just got peppered with targets and had a really low yards per catch averaging 8.5 yards. had 3 total tds on the year. had a couple good games but mostly wasn’t the player with the value of his contract. His cap number is 19.8 mil this year (19.5 in 2024). He wasn’t worth that number last year and likely not in 2025

Love it.  Keeping the corpse of Travis Swift around for nostalgia purposes makes them weaker next year.  Super Bowl hangover incoming for the Chiefs.

This is perfect. Get one good year out of Becton. Get a 4th (3rd???) comp pick. Find another talented OL who wants to be rehabilitated.

Sam Hubbard retired

Maybe we can convince Cincy to take Huff

So is it as easy as

Re-Sign Baun

Sign Dre'Mont Jones to take over for Milton Williams

Trade pick 32 and 64 for 39 and 41 with Bears

Draft either Donovan Jackson, Jonah Saviinaea, or Aireontae Ersery to take over or compete for Becton's spot

Top Edge defender available to take over for Sweat

Board is having problems with tweets

Chiefs are an 11-6 wildcard team next year and people finally realize that Mahomes is human. Superbowl window now shut. Losing Thuney is bad. But defense losing Reid, Bolton, Wharmack and Omenihu is going to bring that championship level defense closer to middle of the pack and that will be the difference. Chris Jones is a year older and has played a ton of snaps. Can see him being less dominant and breaking down. They will have to retool flawlessly with the draft and minimum salary vets to be a Superbowl contender.

How does signing an underperforming DE in Jones replace a DT like Milton Williams?

Between Dickerson and Jurgens in the NFC title game, Nolan tearing his triceps as well in the Super Bowl, and this, just an incredible group of guys to be proud of. They were all tough as nails.

Winning championships requires sacrifice.

What would Howie pay Slay? He's not taking a hometown discount according to that interview. Kind of figured that. It's his last major payday. And he's got his ring. Maybe would take him for $6M with the understanding of less snaps and easing in Ringo this year. But if pressed, rather save this money for younger vet gambles and keeping Baun. Assuming Becton and Williams will be priced out. Can wait til June on him. I'm fine continuing this incredible youth movement and becoming the youngest  team in the league with Graham, Bradberry and Slay gone.

I have referenced Gimore's deal with Minny last year as a comp. 1 year, $7mm. He didn't sign until August, and was a former DPOY. With the cap increase, 1 year $6-$7mm feels right for Slay. He did say in that interview that if the money were close, he'd choose Philly.

Wasn't he part of those rumors?

Seemed like all of them were saying there was smoke

Seems like all of them are looking to have something to say and will repeat the rumors others are spreading to stay relevant and in the public eye.

Slay clearly wants to come back on a reduced deal.

I didn't get that vibe from the video clip. Seemed like he didn't want to take a reduced deal

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not.

Watch the video - he says if the money is close he wants to come back.

Obviously he's not coming back for a vet minimum or anything, but my sense was if the money is close, he'd rather be here. No idea if Howie will make an offer.

So they thought Caliendo was better than him last month. Interesting plan

They didn't consider moving him to LG mid-season.  So, they thought having Thuney - Caliendo on the left side was better than Suamataia - Thuney.

I think Slay was great last year and we may be pressing our luck here with him at age 35 this season. Ready to let Coop and Q lead on this defense with Ringo coming in. Can have Rodgers be the vet. Ringo in year 3 and time to take advantage of a cheap contract and find out if he can play. Interested in finding more gems this offseason like Baun and Becton last season. With a Superbowl in hand, I think they have an edge in adding those types. There will be good 1 year deals to make where players feel like they can cash in with a great year like Baun and Becton will.

Just saw something that said the eagles have signed OT  Christian Darisaw former vikings 2021 1st round pick.

Cant find anything else to confirm or deny it🤷‍♂️

I watched it. I don't see anything that says he will take a reduced deal, unless you just are referring to what he was scheduled to make this year. If anything is was more of the opposite. Philly would have to pay him what HE wants to come back.

Yeah - when I said reduced deal, I meant from his existing contract we are terminating.

That would be impressive considering he's under contract until 2029

Got it, my bad. When I first read it I thought you were implying a reduced market deal.

Jones last year had 28 tackles and 4 sacks in a down year.  Milton Williams had 24 tackles and 5 sacks in a breakout year.

They're both listed as 6 foot 3 and 281 pounds.  Jones played a bunch of DT before they started moving him all around the line.

I'm not saying he will be as good as Milton was becoming but lets not say it's outlandish he can't help replace some of Milton's production

And FWIW, I wouldn't bring Slay back at 1 year, $7mm. I'm sure there is some price where I would, but more like 4-5mm, and he'll get more elsewhere.

After 2017 and 2022, Howie re-upped with aging players and got burned. After 2017 we brought back Alshon, Ajayi, added Mike Williams and then DJax...all of them were disasters. Howie was trying to recreate the 2017 magic with vets (11 of the 22 starters on that team were FAs/trades), and it burned him as guys got old fast. After 2022 he re-upped Bradberry and Slay and paid for it. Feels like this time we are committing to youth, especially on defense.
