I get it but I doubt after paying 17 that Howie is willing to pay much for 2nd guy. They probably feel with an offseason Trotter can play and they’ll pick up another low cost guy if it’s not Burks. I’d like to see Burks back as well

Well, I don't see Burks being terribly expensive.

Probably not but my point was he probably has to hit the market to see that.  I don't think he'll preemptively take a low offer.  Same with Rodgers.  I do think Fangio likes Rodgers so I can see them paying a bit but nothing too much

Maybe but I'm not sold on him yet.  Burks showed he can play.

Agreed. 1 year deal, shouldn’t cost much, and would give us really nice insurance. I’d also draft a guy in the mid to late rounds.

I’d operate on the presumption that Dean isn’t very good this year and is gone when his contract expires.

Well, just like I said with Baun, I'd prefer they don't get into discussions with other teams as things can go funky if that happens.  Better to just get them at a solid price.  They already know what their basic range is without needing to speak with others in detail.

Worst case, Burks is a really solid backup again should Trotter make great strides.

If Joey Bosa wants to go championship hunting on the cheap, there is our Chris Long 2.0.  Except better.

I’m good. Not sure we want MAGA bros in our actually good culture of a locker room.

All things being equal... Oren Burks or Baron Browning?

He’s 29yr journeyman… yeah, at best he’s a bridge somewhere, why not here?

I see Browning as a backup for Baun’s role while Burks is more of a known quantity at MIKE. Depends on what you want (and how we feel about Trot Jr).

I believe a big money extension for a 28-year-old RB is a risk and provided that "370” data point. You guys can attack that data point and poke holes in it.

If you want to argue that he can be one of the outliers at the position, that’s fine too. I happen to agree.

But I’m very comfortable in my simplistic thinking that handing a big money contract to a 28-year-old coming off damn near 500 touches is indeed a risk, especially considering we tore up a contract one year into a three year deal.

Yup....the thing that I have learned about RB's is that age does not matter...it is the number of carries...and...running backs do not slowly decline, they go right off a cliff. You just never know when that cliff shows up. I hope Saquon is spending his time right now just healing his body as much as he may want to jump back into his workouts...the shortened offseason is a huge factor for staying competitive. Players need time to heal.

The good news / bad news for Saquon is that he's been hurt several times.  While that points to general risk with his body it also served to limit his touches over the years.

We shall see...

I'm just curious, and I'm not trying to start a political argument, but don't you think differing opinions are what create a strong locker room culture? I don't want everyone being lock in step. If the Eagles said you can only come here if you vote a certain way, that to me is divisive. We aren't all supposed to think the same way, but finding that common ground is what helps build that culture. I'd wager there are more "MAGA bros" on the Eagles than you think. What's great about the Eagles and their leaders such as Jalen Hurts is that he leads by example and he seems to operate under the same mindset that Michael Jordan had...which is Republicans buy sneakers too.

I also don't know why Bosa has been tagged as some bad guy. He questioned cancelling practice for protests (but supported the right to protest). He questioned how the NFL handled Coviid-19, and let's face it, there was and is a lot to question now that you look back on things. Lastly, he supports the current president (and a lot of players do). I'm not sure how any of this makes him a bad guy or how it would hurt the locker room culture the Eagles have.

If anything, Bosa has shown he's a warrior. He's played through injuries and has shown to stand up for teammates on the field. Sounds like the kind of guy that might be good to have on your team. He's not the top DE he once was, but he can contribute if he's healthy.

I would imagine today or tomorrow is the day they resolve the Goedert situation. There is no way they can bring him back on a 14 million cap hit, so it's either restructure/extend his current contract, or trade him.

Who cares. Bottom line, dude can't stay healthy and wasn't productive last season when he was.

I've wavered on this one.  I think best option is to extend him a year and lower number.  He's the best combo of receiving-blocking out there with a chemistry with Hurts as well.  That said if they need to go cheap there I get it.  O is cap heavy.  The thought of unlocking Pitts potential intrigues me but he's do 11 on the 5h year option which would also require some extension to make sense.   Mayer is probably the right combo of blocking-receiving this team could use at the low cost.  Plenty of draft options but board needs to fall right for that

So CJGJ upset that slay didn’t mention him when talking about guys in the secondary and stepping up if he is gone

I don't watch Chargers games but he played 50% of the snaps, had 5 sacks, 5 TFL, 2 FF and 13 QB hits.

Nolan Smith played 55% of the snaps for the Eagles. He had 6.5 sacks, 8 TFL , 11 QB hits and 2 FR.

Pretty similar stats based on just looking at the numbers. I'm not suggesting they are on the same level. Smith is an ascending player, and a growing leader of this team. Bosa is on the downside of his career and if brought in he would be in a rotation. I'd be fine with those numbers from a part-time DE.

Anyone seen the CJGJ stuff with Slay? Jeez he’s a bit of a sensitive flower CJ isn’t he! I mean we all love his emotion etc but still.

I don’t see why Goedert would do just one year. He’s in position to be a free agent a few months after turning 31. Why would he push it to 32?

He’s going to want another bite at the apple for his 2nd non-rookie contract. I’d guess his agent would push for a minimum of a 3 year extension that’s really a 2.

What makes CJGJ special is his fire/passion.
The reason every team burns out on CJGJ is his fire/passion.

That's another reason we needed Baun back.  He's the vet leader of the D.  CJ plays his role but it's not leader. That's not how a mature leader acts

I’m not talking about republicans I’m talking about MAGA supporters today, with the decay of democracy as their leader have no business being brought into our locker room if we have other options that can be as effective or more. Just because we have good leaders doesn’t mean we should be bringing conservative extremists into our locker room.

It might just be his younger brother and Joey is more sensible So I apologize if he’s not aligned there.

Just my opinion.

Yeah that's the dilemma.  If you can't get a deal done then you have to consider alternative.  And his health is a big risk as he ages
