Yup....the thing that I have learned about RB's is that age does not matter...it is the number of carries...and...running backs do not slowly decline, they go right off a cliff. You just never know when that cliff shows up. I hope Saquon is spending his time right now just healing his body as much as he may want to jump back into his workouts...the shortened offseason is a huge factor for staying competitive. Players need time to heal.

He won't see real contact again until Week 1.  He won't be suiting up for preseason games.  And I'm sure there won't be tackling to the ground in TC.   That's just not how this team operates.  His next real contact will be in September.

I'm just curious, and I'm not trying to start a political argument, but don't you think differing opinions are what create a strong locker room culture? I don't want everyone being lock in step. If the Eagles said you can only come here if you vote a certain way, that to me is divisive. We aren't all supposed to think the same way, but finding that common ground is what helps build that culture. I'd wager there are more "MAGA bros" on the Eagles than you think. What's great about the Eagles and their leaders such as Jalen Hurts is that he leads by example and he seems to operate under the same mindset that Michael Jordan had...which is Republicans buy sneakers too.

I also don't know why Bosa has been tagged as some bad guy. He questioned cancelling practice for protests (but supported the right to protest). He questioned how the NFL handled Coviid-19, and let's face it, there was and is a lot to question now that you look back on things. Lastly, he supports the current president (and a lot of players do). I'm not sure how any of this makes him a bad guy or how it would hurt the locker room culture the Eagles have.

If anything, Bosa has shown he's a warrior. He's played through injuries and has shown to stand up for teammates on the field. Sounds like the kind of guy that might be good to have on your team. He's not the top DE he once was, but he can contribute if he's healthy.

Never mind the MAGA stuff.  Bosa’s grandfather was one of the biggest gangsters of all time who ordered the JFK assassination!

I would imagine today or tomorrow is the day they resolve the Goedert situation. There is no way they can bring him back on a 14 million cap hit, so it's either restructure/extend his current contract, or trade him.

There is no saving available if you cut or trade Goedert now the only savings is after June 1st…. He either restructures or you hold him through training camp and then cut/trade him depending on what else you did at the position

Well, I don't see Burks being terribly expensive.

Didn't we already see what the rest of the league thinks about when no one offered him substantial money last year when he was on the open market, AND (this especially) no one bothered to pick him up when we released him prior to the start of the season? He was on our PS to start the year, right? Granted, he played better than expected this season when called upon, but let's not go nuts thinking the league thinks he's a highly desired player.

Lots of room between highly desired and 3 or 4mil which they might not pay since Baun got 17 (Baun got 3.5 last year for example)

You are correct.  Someone did.

Yep.  I was wrong.  Glad to be wrong in this case.  And excited that we have Baun locked up for the next 3 years

Well yes, as I said, he won't be expensive

Slay said Blankenship will be the next leader… which was surprising to me because I view reed as just a guy.

Leaders don't necessarily have the greatest skill set on the team, nor make the splash plays, but its about how their teammates view them in terms of professionalism and work ethic.   They need a certain level of cache, but not necessarily at the top of the talent pool.  And Blankenship has been a guy who has made the calls on the back end, made some splash plays from time to time when needed, and been here for a number of years so that the other players know his story and have seen his work.

Goedert is still a very, very good TE.  Still want to find a way to keep him.

Personally I would draft a rookie and try and trade for Kyle Pitts… I just think there is something there with Pitts and he is only 25.. extend him for a couple of years to make the cap work and you could be setup for years to come with a rookie contract and Pitts.

hold Dallas into the preseason and decide what if anything needs to be done then. I would be more then happy with Dallas , Grant, Kyle Pitts, Rookie as our 4 te’s for the year.

The ball doesn't go to the TE enough to trade for Pitts IMO

Yeah I’m intrigued by Pitts but I think the reality is the O has Barkley, AJ & Smitty and even Dotson is more capable than he’s being used. Not sure in a cap world you can pay more guys for low usage

I believe a big money extension for a 28-year-old RB is a risk and provided that "370” data point. You guys can attack that data point and poke holes in it.

If you want to argue that he can be one of the outliers at the position, that’s fine too. I happen to agree.

But I’m very comfortable in my simplistic thinking that handing a big money contract to a 28-year-old coming off damn near 500 touches is indeed a risk, especially considering we tore up a contract one year into a three year deal.

Of course there is risk. Every day every one of us and every person across the globe takes on risk.  Every time you get in your car you are incurring substantial risk.  I’m about to have a hospital procedure and I am incurring risk by doing so, but I would also be incurring risk by not doing so.  The key with risk is to assess the probabilities and choose the optimal course with manageable risk.  Howie does that for a living.  You and I do not.  As a result he is much much better at making a risk assessment than we are.  In addition he has access to facts that we can only speculate about.  So he assesses and we guess.

i trust his judgment.  You clearly do not.

BTW you have not been attacked.  You and I have simply disagreed and discussed that disagreement.

Unless it's a late, late round pick, why trade for Pitts?  He's not going to see the ball much.

Eagles TEs need to be good blockers as much as receivers and Pitts can't block. Goedert was great in the playoffs, dude is a gamer. That stiff arm vs the Packers might be the most underrated play of the playoffs.
