I wouldn’t give Hargrave more than the vet minimum

He's thinking family legacy, as he should.  If he didn't have a SB ring he'd be thinking differently.

He's been paid millions unless he managed his money horribly

@mattwill     I took your advice about signatures and one user. Life changing. Thanks

Sweat and Williams may learn the hard lesson that the grass isn't always greener - Baun and Becton have seen the grass on the other side and seemed refreshed and revived after playing in Philly.

Reminds me of @olsilverhair when he snuck out of his cage in my basement.  Everything seemed fine and dandy with fresh air and freedom until he realized he didn't have any money. It also doesn't help that his eyes are bright yellow from cirrhosis of the liver, and he looks like a meth head that was kicked in the face by a mule.  Within a week, he was turning tricks at the local Circle K for hamburgers.  Once I captured him with greased up deaf guy as bait, he understood that living in his 6' x 9' metal cage paradise with built in gerbil feeder isn't so bad after all.

You trade for Pitts because of youth and upside.. if he pans out he could be your #1 te for the future.

i understand we have AJ and Smitty now and others don’t see a lot of touches but that doesn’t mean it will always be that way or the system won’t change somewhat…  Next June AJ turns 29 his contract also raises from 17 million this year to the mid 20’s next year and you can save 12.5 million having him a post june cut or trade.

Howie has to plan for everything. Pitts has talent he had over 1000 yards as a rookie just hasn’t had much of a qb since then.. I think him and Penix could be decent but I would attempt to trade for him.

Like I said if it's a late round pick then OK.  But Hurts, AJ, DeVonta and Barkley aren't going anywhere anytime soon.  Pitts would be lucky if he got 500 yards a season here.

Hurts isn't the kind of QB that spreads it around alot.

He just got a ring.  Now it's time for thr last big payday of his playing career.

How much is he expected to get?  Not like he's a top CB anymore.

I'm all for players getting as much as they can but I'm not sure he's getting a big payday.

Howie is going to play the comp pick game this year.  He will look to maximize the picks he will receive in 2026.

He will have a good idea of what that will be going into the 2025 draft and be willing to use the regular 2026 picks as trade capital, knowing that they will be eventually offset by comp picks.

If Sam Darnold doesn't sign back with Minnesota I'm curious if Howie will call them up and see what they're willing to give up for Pickett to back up JJ McCarthy

Reed Blankenship will be an interesting case. If you can extend him at reasonable number then you do it but if he’s looking for a big pay day you might have to look to replace him. Again can’t pay every starting position on the team big money

I think the move is to trade high on McKee. Maybe Moore wants him in NO. Pickett is a fine backup.

Just my opinion but I think the whole "ring chasing" is over played. Players care about money first and second. Probably consider their family over rings too. It's a business for them. They may make minor sacrifices for convenience in their life but the majority will follow the money for the most part.

It seems every person who covers the Eagles agrees(and I as well) that if the Eagles sign one notable player who isn't cut, it will be an Edge player. Simply because there's no chance in hell Howie goes into the draft with just Hunt and Nolan as your two Edge guys. Howie won't leave himself vulnerable like that if the draft doesn't go their way. They may wait out the market a bit, but if they sign a name, it'll be there. I maintain to keep an eye out for Mack and Ojulari. Both won't break the bank and Mack could be a guy willing to take a little less to chase a ring.

Agreed.  They still plan to live 40-50 years after they stop playing.

I disagree a little. I think he doesn’t go into season like that but I’m not sure he’ll definitely address before draft. We’ve seen him wait for late FA or trade after draft

Why sign an EDGE when we can just draft one?

Well, they will do both, but there's no guarantee the guys they like are still on the board. They will need to add two this offseason considering they'll lose BG and Sweat. I don't know if they'll end up drafting two, and if they do I doubt two Edge guys in their first few picks, so a signing and a draft pick makes sense to mitigate some risks. I don't think they will go into a repeat season leaning on a rookie that much. There will be a vet in there somewhere, even if it's a trade instead of a signing, which is possible.

I really think that played a part in the Reddick trade.  He saw this year as a year to load up on comps, so trading Reddick (for more than a top comp pick), he would be able to maximize the amount of picks he gains this year.

If he thought that this year he might be able to gain one, maybe two, he might have been less likely to make that move, keep the defense loaded and get that Reddick comp.

Have to sign Becton before Monday or it's over. You have 13 teams with $50M or over in cap space in a weak free agent class. Can't see him not getting a large offer once the bidding starts, now that Trey Smith is currently at 23.4M and off the market. Especially, if they value him swinging over to tackle at all. His best situation from a career perspective is the Eagles, no doubt. I honestly don't think he plays as well elsewhere on an average offensive line.

You say its a weak free agent class but Becton is not ranked highly in it, most of the free agent evealuatora have him barely scraping the top 5 guards, I haven't seen one thst doesn't have him behind a 35 year old Zeitler, I think some of this board significantly overrate Becton as a Guard.

Also with just the way NFL contracts are. I think ring chasing is more common in something like Basketball or Baseball where they have guaranteed salaries and money is less of a concern.

Citation? And yeah, this belongs in CVON.

My mistake.  Joey and Nick Bosa's GREAT-grandfather was infamous Chicago mob boss the "Big Tuna" aka "Joey Batters" aka "The Genuine Godfather" - Tony Accardo.  Perhaps Joey Bosa is named after him lol.

Here's a good article on him:

Here's an article on the mob hitmen who killed JFK on November 22, 1963.  Chicago mob senior hitman Charles "Chuck" Nicoletti was one of them.  His boss was Sam Giancana, who reported to Tony Accardo:
