If Lurie and Howie are setting the gold standard, what do we call Mike Brown?

He was shielded from being the 31st worst owner by Dan Snyder for 20 years but Snyder is gone now.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

Who would you rather have as an Eagle, Garrett or Hendrickson or Parsons?

Parsons would be #1 if he wasn't crazy, therefore I go with Garrett.

Might be an ok D-Line

Parsons easily, but obviously the least likely of the 3 to be an Eagle.

Physically he’s an incredible prospect.

The problem is he is both raw and old. I believe he is either 24 or 25 years old. So if you take a year or two to develop him, do you then hand him a long term deal when he’s a 28 or 29 years old old free agent looking for his big money contract?

Or do you simply ride out his rookie contract for 4 years and then let him walk for a Comp Pick?

The supply of available, high quality edge rushers keeps increasing. Hopefully this becomes a buyers' market for Howie. At this point, I wonder what Sweat will get as a free agent.

With Baun signed, I would go with one of the others being more important.

Still Garrett

We bout to get ourselves a top end EDGE boys

Gotta love the Bengals "strategy"

Finally find a QB

Wait to sign skill players to the point one is going to be $40M AAV and the other mid to high 20's.

Don't invest in any resemblance of an O-line.

Ship out your best defensive player on a lousy defense.

Somehow try to make the SB winning shootouts every week.

I'm not sure he's wrong, and I'm not sure it matters.   In the 1970s, would anyone have placed Bob Griese in the very top tier of NFL QBs?  And yet.. he went to 3 straight Super Bowls, winning 2 and has an undefeated season on his resume.

But, most folks likely had Tarkenton, Staubach, and a few others rated higher than him - maybe Fouts, Stabler and Bradshaw all were on that list higher than Griese.

The new reality of the NFL is that your ability to compete is directly related to the willingness of your owner to spend large dollars upfront. Lurie is willing to write checks in large option bonuses and effectively run a massive working capital deficit all year -- players are paid before the season, before cash flows from tickets/concessions/etc. all come in. I'm not sure when they get the TV money, but Lurie is massively floating things. On top of that, the void years allow our cash spending to be way above the cap every year. It only works because Lurie has both the financial wherewithal (selling 10% of the team definitely helped) and the desire to win.

Guys like Mike Brown, Jerry Jones, etc. aren't willing to do this, and they can't compete.

Howie is going to have to be very disciplined here. But I do really like Hendrickson. He's a heart & soul type player and a leader. Fits into the culture here. Always stands out when watching Bengal games. Doesn't disappear. Going to be 31 this year. He may be the most reasonable edge out there regarding trade capital needed to acquire. Wasn't looking for a huge splash at DE necessarily, but I'm on the Hendrickson bandwagon.

It's the offseason and kool-aid is on the menu

Drink up boys!

If the Eagles are going to break bank on an Edge it'll be Garrett, not Hendrickson. Hendrickson will be 31 during the season, no way Howie gives up a premium pick, plus 35m+ per season for a 31 year old, and he probably won't do it for Garrett either.

Just my opinion but I think the whole "ring chasing" is over played. Players care about money first and second. Probably consider their family over rings too. It's a business for them. They may make minor sacrifices for convenience in their life but the majority will follow the money for the most part.

I'm not entirely convinced...just my opinion (mainly because it's never going to happen to me 🙂), but the difference between having $100m in the bank compared to having $110m in the bank is negligible...

However, the difference between having $100m and Two Super Bowl rings in the bank compared to $110m and no Super Bowl rings in the bank is massive...

There comes a point where the money becomes secondary to the lasting legacy of a (or some) Super Bowl ring(s)...Just my opinion.

Hendrickson was one year left on his contract - he is owed $16 million ($15.8mm base, 200k workout bonus). If you acquired him, flipped $14.5mm to an option bonus and tacked on 4 void years, you could drop his cap number to $4.4mm, with $11.6mm of dead money in 2026. But he'll almost certainly demand an extension, and you wouldn't give up real draft capital for a 1 year rental.
