Digging a bit deeper into Day 2…

Yeah I don't expect Nolen or Stewart to be there at the end of RD1 either.

I think Harmon might be there though.

If Hendrickson is willing to play for  1 year it would be a pretty good move but at age 30 id guess hes looking for one more pay day

We'll see this DE market is pretty stacked which could also drop pass rushers in a heavy DL  draft down the board.

Waiting one year for that pay day won’t harm him … as I explained above, it may actually help him.

Remember when there were people out there who thought it would’ve been a better idea to keep Swift?

Shemar Stewart is probably my guy in 1st rd right now. Seen some talk about him possibly going top 10, but I don’t really know. Seems like this draft has been all over the place of where a player will go.

I think Mason Taylor could be a sneaky pick for us in Rd1, or if we trade back.

Doesn't make sense in my opinion.

I agree extending him doesn’t make sense.  Renting him for one year makes a ton of sense.

He wants to get paid.

I'm going to add another priority for this off season. A true RB who can spell Barkley. Not a third down back or game is out of hand back but a we are playing one that can keep the sticks moving, no breakaway speed necessary, something very much like Gibbs and Montgomery. Who is the Montgomery for the Birds? Wanna have 3 years of Barkley with spring in his legs.

Trading for Hendrickson frees up the Draft need for an early Edge. That pick can be used to take a RB.

Walter Nolen dropping to 34.

Man if he is there at Pick 32, I'd be doing back flips to the podium...

I'm surprised he's sliding. Still doubt he makes it to 32. Not quite sure if he's Vic's preference. I'm liking Harmon more and more too.

Good thing you aren't in charge. Our DL would be one injury away from being total garbage.

That is an interesting statement.  Care to elaborate on why that would be true?

Will a rookie be dependable enough? Ball security, blitz pickups, etc.? The talent is there but will coaches be able to rely on a rookie for all of the other aspects of the position? Who from this list makes Montgomery kind of sense? https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/year/2025/position/rb

With a bell cow drafted RB you have Barkley, Shipley and the rookie.  Plenty of time to have the rookie demonstrate/ perfect blitz pickup in practice.

Mostert is very intriguing, may be too costly. Elijah Mitchel isn't bad, Jordan Mason, Khalil Herbert, Emmanuel Wilson all aren't terrible either. There's more than a few in the draft. Another one that's heating up to me is Trevor Etienne.

What is Shipley?  Chopped liver?

So a 2025 second round pick for (let’s be conservative) a starter in 2027 and 2028 and a 2029 3rd round comp pick…

If we are looking at the team as having a 3 year window before the can kicking comes due, I’m not sure that really aligns with what I perceive as "the plan.”

I wouldn’t hate the pick, but you’d have to be really confident he can progress quickly in his development. The thing is, we already have Ringo, Ringo is younger, and Ringo already has 2 years in the system. Porter is a better athlete because of his hips and fluidity but otherwise they are a very similar profile.

Four year contract … developmental in 2025, rotational in 2026, starter in 2027 and 2029 and Comp Pick in 2029.  Good value.

Ringo being here is a plus.  He is the starter in 2025 and 2026 and in 2027 he is either extended or let walk for the next 2 year rotation.

It is a similar approach to CB to the one you and I have discussed in the past vis-a-vis QB.

A couple of those guys listed are just lower level type depth backs. Mason however would garner more attention due to age. I do like Mostert and he would be the main guy behind Saquan and provide solid insurance but he's probably too costly. I want to grab one in the draft whether we sign someone or not.

No.  100% serious.  What was the last game the Eagles played where the Opposition was able to establish their running game?

He wants to get paid.

He will if he plays out his contract on the Eagles.  He will be a UFA after a career year in 2025.  Like sweat has, he will showcase himself for all to see as a stud on the Eagles D.  The pay will come.  The timing will be the only difference.

If it were a few years ago I think it would make a lot more sense, but with our cap situation and essentially going "all in” I think a player more likely to contribute as a rookie and in year 2 might make more sense.

I’m not against it, but it’s sort of awkward. If you believe in Ringo, there’s no need for Porter, and if you don’t believe in Ringo, you need more of a sure thing who can contribute as a rookie.

Fair enough. I could see it. I’m OK with it, but don’t love it.

I don’t see Howie paying 30+ million to a new player. I don’t think even he’s that good to manufacture cap. Any stud DL that comes to the team will want a new deal now

I like Shipley but I do think we need someone to be the lead back if Barkley gets hurt. If Barkley is a 25 carry a game guy, we need someone who can shoulder 15-20, and I don’t think Shipley is that guy.

Hunt fit that 3rd round developmental model.  However, Fangio has demonstrated that he does not fear either rookies or developmental players.  What round is Porter projecting to go in?

It’s a tough ask to have a RB who will get 2-3 carries a game but is a quality 15-20 carry a game guy if you need it. It feels like the bar for this team has become every starter needs to be proven good and every backup is ready to step in. I don’t think any team has ever achieved that

If we take a Day 2 RB … from this strong RB draft … then you have that step in lead back.

We don’t know enough about Shipley to know what his ceiling is.
