If the Eagles trade Huff does it cut into their current cap room at all or is it just dead money?

Depends on when the trade occurs and how much salary Howie can convince the other team to take. But short answer, probably would cut into current cap space.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

No eagles news since Baun got re-signed. Wonder if we get something today. Still have Jurgens & Blankenship looming extensions & decisions to make on Goedert, Slay, and Jordan Davis.

Jonathon Allen released by Commanders.  Another interesting FA

The Slay decision has been made.

Slay got released a couple days ago.

Sign Allen

Ship a 3rd and Davis to Cincy

Hendrickson - Carter - Allen - Nolan

Hunt - Ojomo - Booker - Huff

Throw some rookies in.

C'mon Howie do this totally realistic plan and stop sleeping at the wheel.

Loving all of the DL/Edge releases/cuts. Might lower the market price for more average to above average pieces we can snag.

Honestly, between so many good DL getting released and not having to count against the comp pick formula, AND it being such a great draft for DL the Eagles picked the perfect off-season to lose three impact DL. Between Landry, Bosa, Allen, Hargrave, and Jones I would be surprised if they didn't sign at least one of them.

Slay got slayed! Needs to retire and inarticulately talk his trash with his Eddie Murphy accent.... or go to the Redskins for an obscene amount of money.

Yeah I know, he could still be brought back.

Don't forget Garrett!

I mean the decision has been made not to bring him back.  I think we go young across the board in the D backfield.

Perhaps the ballsiest 4th down call in the history of the Eagles.

That was way underthrown. Hurts is turrible.

Allen makes sense since he won't count against comp picks and may want to chase a ring/get revenge.

Allen is at 18M currently. Milton will get paid 21M at least. Taking Milton all day long. This is a potential shooting star coming into his own at age 25, playing next to Carter, while the other is on the way down at age 30. Taking Milton here regardless.

I agree with you that Milton is definitely the straight up choice over Alan. One issue is that it’s not Milton versus Alan. It’s Milton versus Allen plus receiving a third round comp pick. Even with that, I choose Milton over Allen plus the comp.

I'd prefer Milton also but don't think Allen costs a comp pick since he was released...  Someone please fact check

I’d like to see Allen next to Carter for a season in order to make that evaluation.

I just can't remember Howie letting a player he drafted, who's entering his prime like Milton, walk. And we know he is obsessed about keeping both lines stacked. But, he has his price I'm sure. As I do, as well.

My money is on dremont jones. With Landry maybe second place.

Allen to SF seems likely IMO

I said this about 2 months ago about them drafting him and letting a 25 year old pass rushing DT go. However i have a feeling the eagles have a price and in FA with some of these teams with ridiculous cap are going to go outside of that price. maybe even structure it making it hard to sign him.

The Eagles don't let 25 year old studs go, but I think it'll depend on how they evaluate him. If they consider him a franchise cornerstone stud, then it would be unheard of him them to let him go. If they view him as a good rotational DT then it makes a lot more sense.

I just don't think they can afford to pay Williams 20+ million dollars now or in the coming years.

Well I don't think they can afford to pay 50million plus on DTs

Milton is a young and raising player.  It is no-brainer to want to keep him.  His desire to get a rich pay date stands on the way, unfortunately.

Howie may prefer cut players over end-of-contract FAs for better comp value.  He asked to be patient for the FA market to settle down and value evaluation to be realistic.  Then he would jump in.
