He missed most of last year on IR holding out some hope he signs a 1 year prove it deal.

Me too, I don't know that he fits Fangio but he's similar to Rodgers in my opinion that is based on very little actual analysis

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

I do not see the Eagles in the Trey Hendrickson market either.  I really think people don't appreciate the cap needs coming up in the next 2 years for D players.

Sure we do.  But this is dreamer season.

Carter's mega contract is closing in

We have 2 cheap years left plus the 5th year option on Jalen Carter's contract.  Must stack as many chips as possible in this 3-year window before we have to break the bank to resign him.

Agree,  but you don't think Carter is going to get 35-40 in two years?

1 year. Howie will lock him up the second he can

What did you call?  That Garrett would extend with the Browns?

Yeah, I said this is all just fluff, he may believe it but once the Browns wave a ridiculous contract in his face, he’ll fold

I remember someone was saying this at the time. I trust that it was you.

Maybe.  My 77 year old brain doesn’t have that in its index. But there are lots of things that have actually happened that aren’t in that index … my first wife for example, ol’ what’s her name.

They do a great job with these.

He will want to get paid as soon as possible as he is eligible after next season unless he has a down or injured year

Garrett being off the market means teams like the Commanders have to go to Plan B, which makes Hendrickson much more expensive both in money and in trade value.

Unless Carter falls off a cliff this year or is injured, he's now up to $40M a year. Howie better ace these next couple of drafts if Sweat and Williams are gone. I think Hendrickson ends up with Redskins, which I kind of feared.

Howie will use early money to get Carter’s extension done while he still has competitive advantage/leverage on the overall league marketplace.

You were right if you said that.  I simply don’t remember anyone saying that, but that probably is the fault of my memory.

His agent will be pushing for an extension as soon as it is allowed.  It will be just what we've seen by top end guys this offseason- extend me or let me find a trade.  We don't have 3 years to deal with Carter.  I believe he can sign an extension after the 2025 season, his 3rd full season.  With the amount of snaps he played this year, and if that usage continues,  he and the Eagles will be the talk of the NFL this time next year.

We have the OTs to handle Hendrickson.  I won’t be sorry if the Commies give him silly money.

Yup, and if the cap keeps going up like it has been then $40M looks more like $30M cap wise, and still keeps the player happy.

That works to Howie’s advantage.  The money Carter gets in the next two years won’t change for Cap purposes.  The Cap will go up in the extension years, but Carter will receive the cash now.  That is a win-win for both the Eagles and Carter and a loss for the rest of the NFL

Yeah. I agree if they also overpay Bengals in draft picks. I would have taken him for a low 2nd or high 3rd in value. And around $30M. I assume all of this just went up so will be out of range here.

You have one more cheap year. He will demand an extension after yr 3 and deserve it

The Rodgers news is kind of discouraging. I think there is a possibility that Ringo is ready to step up and be a starter but they AT LEAST need someone who can compete with him and be a fall back option and depth if Ringo is the starter.

More and more, it looks like Howie will be digging for gems this offseason and looking for prove it 1 year deals (like Becton and Baun) and that's fine. Because he's pretty good at it. That's where the patience comes in and having cash on hand. The price tags this week are going to be horrific. May need to explore the trade market as well for draft picks entering their 4th and/or 5th years (like Dotson and Pickett last year).

With Garrett off the table bringing back Josh Sweat makes the most sense for the Eagles.  Harold Landry is probably going to cost as much if not more for similar production but coming from a losing team.  Keep the guy you know already plays well in your system.  Can't see them trading for Hendrickson.  Can't see them paying big money to Khalil Mack at this age.

I think the play for the Eagles is to bring back Sweat and sign Dre-Mont Jones to play interior defensive line like he did in Denver under Fangio.  If Sweat is really going to land a massive deal then I think they could get Joey Bosa for relatively cheap at his age considering his injury history.  He could then compete with Hunt for playing time/starting role and Eagles draft another edge rusher.
