Just had a look at the NFL free agency tracker here https://www.nfl.com/news/2025-nfl-free-agency-tracker-latest-signings-trades-contract-info-for-all-32-teams

It really warms the heart. Teams making loads of deals, signings of players either being overpaid or who I've never heard of. The Eagles only have two players listed. Barkley and Baun. Really does feel like we're in something of a golden age. It's amazing

While it might be fun watching teams overpay players, it also resets the positional markets going forward. I still can't figure out the DK Metcalf contract. He's probably a top WR2, IMO. He's now paid more than most WR1s.

Did everyone leave their money clip and cigar out for Howie Roseman and Drew Rosenhaus last night?

I have a tough time seeing them want to trade Goedert. Perhaps he wants to go elsewhere to be more of a focal point of the offense.

I hear you but, in the long run, Howie sets the market. He doesn't follow it. He's done it for two or three years now. Go early, make both sides happy, then watch other teams scrabble around. It's part of his genius.

The Steelers really hosed the Bengals there

The problem with that is you sometimes create a Reddick situation where the player is outperforming his contract compared to his peers and he becomes a problem.

And the team can choose to rectify that situation in a variety of ways.   They can renegotiate, or they can trade.  In the case of Reddick, they chose to trade him.   It worked for the Eagles, honestly.  The Huff move failed, but they redid Sweat's deal, which worked and traded Reddick, which also worked for this team.

Last year of his contract, he's got a heck of a cap number next year and there's no getting away from the fact he has an ugly injury history. According to OTC if they trade him post June 1st they save 18million against the cap in 2026. It's a no brainer as far as I can see, I don't see any way he's still with us next year.

Goedert is a great TE when he's healthy, best on the roster by a country mile, but there's a stretch of every season that he isn't healthy and that's unlikely to change post 30.

He wants a new deal. Heading into the final year of his deal and no guarantee money left on it. I would hope they just work out a new deal but maybe he's asking for too much.

Yeah, the trade talk would more likely come from his side to put himself into a position to leverage a multi-year contract from the new team. So, $$$, but that goes along with perceived importance to the offense.

I would keep him, as we don’t have a replacement on the roster yet.

Keep Dallas.  He's a threat in running and passing downs.  I don't care if he doesn't get a ton of targets because the threat of him out there opens up other things

Or sign a TE who doesn't stink at blocking

Yup and when he plays he’s good; also nice insurance to pick up targets if AJ/Smitty get dinged.

Ha, ha, ha while Williams, Sweat etc are announced elsewhere.  Barkley is worth celebrating twice

This. The TE doesn't need to be great. Hurts doesn't throw to the TE enough to justify

May be an image of 2 people, people playing American football and text that says "I Best i can do is 3 wins and 40Mil"

So you want a TE that comes in and tells everybody, "put in the run defense" ?

I threw beer cans at people in his honor.

I think it is about Goedert likely wanting a longer contract and Goedert not being in the Eagles longer term plans.  In the short term it doesn't make sense.  I think in the longer term, like over the next 3 seasons, the cost of replacing Goedert and his value to the team may be cheaper than keeping him given the injury issues.

As if this morning, we are looking to replace two starters (Slay and Becton), two rotational DLs (Sweat and Williams), and four key backups (Gainwell, Rodgers, Burks, and Fred).  If you believe they will move Steen to RG, it's one starter and five backups.

You could address the rotational DLs in the draft.  Finding another RB isn't difficult.  We have Stoutland to make the OL work.

IMO, the CB positions will be the most critical one to address.

Also, be assured that the Carter extension next offseason is part of every move this offseason.

FA is shaping up real nice for the Eagles right now. Lots of players resigning making this FA class not so special.

Eagles won't be all that active anyways since they already have their core locked up, and now with a weaker class it makes teams way overpay for the little talent that's out there.

Milton and Sweat are going to get paid, and increase the chances of a high comp pick. Eagles would be wise to protect those two comps.
