Last year of his contract, he's got a heck of a cap number next year and there's no getting away from the fact he has an ugly injury history. According to OTC if they trade him post June 1st they save 18million against the cap in 2026. It's a no brainer as far as I can see, I don't see any way he's still with us next year.

Goedert is a great TE when he's healthy, best on the roster by a country mile, but there's a stretch of every season that he isn't healthy and that's unlikely to change post 30.

They have already used their two Post June 1 designations, so you would have to look at his trade from the pre-June 1 view. OTC doesn’t have $18 million for him in either case though.

Spotrac also doesn’t have $18 million

The dead money is 21mm per OTC

Right, so what high money pieces on offense are going?

You could say Lane maybe. Barkley maybe. But both might overlap a year or two with signing the young guys on defense.

Hurts isn't getting moved. I doubt they move anyone on the O-line. So it's basically AJ Brown or Devonta Smith.

The "big" money won't hit the cap on those guys for 4 or 5 years.

So, that means Lane's money is gone.   Barkley will likely be off the books by then as well.  Then they have to choose one of Brown or Smith.  Likely Brown goes as his style likely leads to a quicker end to his career.  Dickerson will have a hard time sticking around forever at LG with his injury history, which just keeps getting longer.   He'll be 30 in 4 years, and might actually be on the downside easily by then.  And it's crazy to think, but Mailata would be closing in on the end of his career by then.  He'll be 32 in 4 years.  He might stick around until he's 36 like Johnson and Kelce, or he may not.

The biggest issue in the succession plan for the offense as I see it is finding a guy that can learn under Stoutland and do what he's done over the years.   That would be huge moving forward, and there's no cap on spending for coaches.

I think for the long term right guard and right tackle need to be smaller salaried positions. Which will kick in when Lane retires. Tight end and RB will also have to be lower paying by that time. Things should lineup okay with all those contracts on defense by the time they kick in to high gear. Things need to start shifting ASAP which is why Becton is not happening and Goedert gone sooner than later.  Also, do not think Jordan Davis long term is a good move right now (unless it's a really under market deal) in order to stay flex with the rest.

The Eagles do not need to be active in wave 1 of free agency.

They've been active and successful in previous offseasons to build this championship team. Yes there are moves to be made every season. But the core of the team is under contract.

We always say a team has to primarily build through the draft, then want them to be active in free agency. Howie finally drafted well on defense over several years and they have young talent as starters and depth ready to increase snaps. Replacements for guys like Williams and Sweat will come in wave 2 and draft. The core offense is signed for several years.

And there are the future contracts for young star players to plan for.

There are teams overpaying for guys that won't win any championships.

Of course we want them active in free agency.   That's the only 'game' going right now.   Being patient may be the smart move, but it sure is boring!   We want news... all the time!

Cap wise, sure. But if Howie keeps structuring the contracts the way he does the cash comes into play. Lurie is very generous but I imagine they still have to have a cash budget.

Got one last one in before tampering period.  You're welcome boys.  How many Howie's?

I’d like a DE earlier.

Becton is great, but these guard deals have been reasonable.

Id like him back, but if he wants 15/year he can walk

He'll just sell off another minority share in his stake.    ;).    Get your pennies together, you might get a shot at some stock options in the Eagles.

Godwin back to Bucs.

3 years 66 million, $44M guaranteed

They have a press conference with Barkley today to celebrate him, so there's that!
