I don't care about cash, just cap - how much does that save?

Like $4mm this year, but leaves like 18mm of dead cap for 2026.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

Yep that's what Kaye was alluding to.  Panthers probably paid him a ton  which is good for us.  He didn't go to win lol

ESPN reporting

More than 20M/Y for Milton, per Schefter.

Got a ring, now going to a crappy team to get money.

"With the 98th pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select...."

Hargrave > Williams > Ojomo, the cycle continues.

Good for Milton. Hate to lose him but there's no way we could afford to pay him that.

Our D is going to take a step back this season, but, I suspect it should still be top 10

Paulson Adebo to Giants.

sad to lose him. Glad he wont be a threat to us.

He didn't even go to a pretender.

I'll like to revisit this take after the draft.  Some personnel will change, but the coordinator and our best young players remain.

I recall the quote attributed to Vic during a broadcast where he said something to the effect that he'd like to blitz more, but the back seven hadn't been in his system long enough to deal with it.  I anticipate that his scheme will be more diverse this season.  That we will see second-year jumps from Mitchell, DeJean, and Hunt.  That Ojomo will, like Williams, benefit from playing next to Carter.

We can take a small step back and still be the best in the league.

Barnett back to Texans $5M

I think we need to mention the Trent Williams and Fred Warner effects. Both guys were #1 (or tied or 1a) at their positions. They did their jobs so well that normal guys could thrive around them. Williams made CMC go. Warner made it easier for the rest of the back 7, supported the front 4 and would make that 1 play to turn a loss into a win.

KC just paid the guy who replaced Williams as the SF offense ground to a halt 15m a year.

DC just paid Kinlaw like he is an upgrade on Jonathan Allen.

These kinds of signings are why Free Agency can hurt teams.

Carlton Davis to New England

3 years $60M, $34.5 gtd

I’m happy we’re chillin’ we’re gonna snag some steals for cheap.

He just works well there in that system with those players. I'm not even going to try to understand it but good for him.

And what's the dead cap hit if he stays, $0 savings in 2025, but a higher hit in 2026?

I honestly know nothing about Jaylon Moore. Is he any good at all?

$24.5mm in 2026. His cash in 2025 is $15.5mm and his cap number is $12mm, so keeping him only adds $3.5mm incremental in dead cap.

Thanks for LIX, Milton.

Derek Barnett is going back to the Texans on a 1 year deal for $5M, source says.

It was always 20 plus for Milton. A few of us have said that for a while now.

Reading about these deals and the salary cap has me thinking... I wonder if teams should get cap relief - say 10% of contract - when they re-sign / extend players they draft. Encourage continuity and reward Howie Roseman. Sorry, I mean reward teams that draft well
