It's probably just going to end up being Ringo unfortunately. Howie said young players on the roster are gonna have to be ready to take the reins, so he was probably forecasting what they expected to happen. I'm fine with that with guys like Ojomo and Steen. Not so much with Ringo, I think he's going to be a noticeable downgrade. We'll see.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

I'm not even a gambler and I just wagered my house on the Seahawks under

Yeah, this team will be taking a step back next year sadly.

They have the best OL in football. AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts.

The defense has two of the best young CB in the NFL, Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, a terrific duo at safety, Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt ascending.

This team will be just fine. They lost some good players, that was bound to happen. Aside from @jojodancer, I was the biggest Milton Williams fan here, but $26 million/year. Bye.

It's been less than 3 hours and there are plenty of options out there. We have the draft and trades coming.

Don't jump.

Brah, the offseason is barely 3 hours old. Maybe wait and see what happens over the next few days, weeks, etc? Just a thought.

Well they curb stomped the defending champs so they'll probably still be alright

You still need a body.

Said 2 hours into free agency.

We do this dance every year. Then they sign free agents after the initial wave, the draft has gone well in recent years, and there are trades and preseason cuts to pick up.

Last year they signed Becton and Baun and fans said either "who?" or were underwhelmed. They both turned out great.

The team has won 2 SBs in 7 years turning over most of the roster and coaches. IMO they've earned some patience and trust.

For me, signing Baun was huge. I would have been pissed seeing him walk, but they retained him. The rest are all replaceable and not the main stars of the team.

I kinda like Darnold to the Seahawks. Baseline-good QB that doesn’t inhibit your search for a franchise QB. Much better run game than he had in MIN. If their guy is on the board at 32, would be an ideal trade partner for us.

No idea how we don’t sign Rodgers at that number - $7.5 mil a year for a starting outside #2 CB?  Wow.

One thing to keep in mind is Slay isn't actually released until Wednesday. Not saying anything will happen but there is time for things to change.

In Howie we trust, but finding a way to keep Becton would be awfully sweet.

Fields to Jets

Sources: Justin Fields reached agreement on a two-year, $40 million deal that includes $30 million guaranteed with the Jets. Deal negotiated by David Mulugheta.

I am not overly concerned about the DL or RG.  It's their plan at CB that isn't clear and has become concerning.

I am onboard with the comp pick game.  But is there a former Fangio NCB out there that they are waiting to sign in the middle of the night?

Pennsylvania swap? Six-time Pro Bowl CB Darius Slay is in talks with the #Steelers about a potential deal, per sources. Slay hasn’t officially been released by the #Eagles and no deal is done. But there is mutual interest.

Replacing Geno with Darnold.

I don't think copying the Jets' QB moves is a great plan.

How can you say that? It's the Jets!!

Howie szn 🙄🙄 he isn't doing anything but let young talent walk.  First no Myles Garret, then he let's Rodgers and Slay go? Then cheaps out on Williams? What a fraud

Chip Kelly was right all along!!!

Pretty obvious to me that they simply chose not to bring him back. Which means they are either planning to move Dejean outside and think they can easily and cheaply find a decent slot corner, they REALLY like Ringo stepping up as a starter next season, or they plan to wait out the market and bring in a total bargain option to compete with him.

Yeah, I guess my point is I would have thought they’d be good with wanting him back at that number. Not like he’s some big loss or anything. I’m curious what the plan is now, if it’s moving DeJean to outside or giving Ringo his chance to start on the outside, which I’m ok with.

I also was wondering if maybe there’s a looming FA move they’re about to make now

Do they know what a swap is?

Yep. They can't just hand over the starting spot to Ringo without at least having a worst case scenario fall back option. Which, worst case some ok corner with starting experience will fall through the cracks of free agency and end up being a bargain in a few days or even weeks. Not only that they need depth in case of injury.

This is confusing, he was released last week with a June 1st designation

Agree, but maybe Fangio just loves Ringo, who knows. Don't want to go into the draft with gaping holes at DT, Edge, and CB. And drafting a CB early could have negative ramifications given they're gonna have to pay Mitchell and DeJean big money in a few years. So if they draft another CB early and he turns out to be legit, what do they do? Pay 3 CBs top dollar? Getting a reliable veteran at a good price would've been really valuable. It's why Rodgers made so much sense.
