Looking for a Burks signing. He gets a nice bump on a 1 year deal worth up to $5M. No way Howie has an 0-fer today. 😁

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

When Howie asked for patience this offseason he meant "I’m going to sign Baun & then you guys won’t hear from me for another 2 weeks” lol

I'm totally ok with that. All the guys except Baun are replaceable. I would've liked Rodgers back but Fangio and Howie have a different plan at corner.

4 years for Sweat and $41mm guaranteed is very surprising. I thought he'd get a 2 or 3 year deal at around $20mm AAV, but one that a team could get out of after one year. I thought his knee issue would prevent a longer deal and bigger money. No chance I would have matched that deal.

Can thank the idiot in az named Gannon who probably coveted him

One thing on Free Agency.

Just because one lunatic paid Banks that money does not mean there were 2 lunatics looking to pay random guards that money.

Milton at DT was ready to take 20m and one lunatic bid him up to 26m

QBs slid up to 55m. Dak got 60. Josh Allen just went next at 55m. One lunatic who did everything wrong in QB negotiations did not set the market.

Someone will probably make Becton a very nice offer but it might not be anywhere near Banks money.

Banks was a 3 year very good starter. Becton was a huge mess in NY who had a really good reclamation year in Philly.

The fit for Becton might not work in some places.

So lets wait to see what he gets offered and then see if he takes the extra money or tries to stay here in a perfect fit.

The Rodgers signing, which happened a few hours ago, is not reflected in the NFL.com signing tracker, while the Sweat signing, which happened maybe half an hour ago tops, is.

Is there something about the Rodgers signing which is not final?

It's on the ESPN tracker. I noticed only Schefter reported it and no NFL guy did.

Not signing Rodgers @ 7.5 per year makes me wonder if they’re actually working out a way for Slay to come back.

This is just my guess, but to me I'm thinking the Eagles said we'll bring you back, but you have to battle with Ringo for CB2. The Vikings said, here's your money, come and be our starting CB2.

Guys that I hope we are keeping tabs on:

DT: Dre'Mont Jones, Calais Campbell, Javon Hargrave, Larry Ogunjobi

Edge: Azeez Ojulari, Malcolm Koonce, Chase Young, DeMarcus Lawrence, Za'Darius Smith

There are so many good options at both Edge and DT that if Howie is just patient he should be able to get one or two guys on very reasonable deals. I would throw Mack and Allen into the mix as well although they will both likely be out of our price range. The point is, there are so many options that there will definitely be a few guys left without a chair when the music stops.

If we are talking Khalil Mack he is back with the chargers

Mack got 18 to re-sign with Chargers and Allen is visiting Vikings

Remember opinions from a year ago:

  • Sweat: fans thought he was on the decline, injury prone and many thought he should've been traded instead of Reddick.
  • Rodgers: after drafting Q and DeJean fans said we should trade Rodgers because we have so much talent at corner.
  • Baun: fans said "who?"
  • Becton: fans said "why?" bust project.
  • Barkley: some fans wondered why bother, they don't need a RB they need other positions.

Great initial move by Howie to trade for him and I appreciate what Slay did being a major factor in two SB appearances and one SB win. That being said with the age, the injuries, and the drama I am more than happy to move in a different direction.

Draft Josh Sweat in 2018 in the 4th round. Get 7 years out of him - 43 sacks, 2 Super Bowls and one ring; pay him almost $40mm. He leaves for 76mm/41mm guaranteed, and we get back a 4th round comp pick.

Draft Milton Williams in 2021. Get 4 years out of him -- 11.5 sacks, 2 Super Bowls and one ring; pay him almost $7mm. He leaves for 104mm/63mm guaranteed, and we get back a 3rd round comp pick.

That's epic general managing.

You referring to Khalil Mack or someone else?  Khalil re-signed with the Chargers.

I probably should be more concerned about the Oline/Dline but I’m not. It seems like whoever the Birds plug in at either (save Huff so far) winds up working out.

are our cap numbers updated after Saquon & Baun?

I don't think they're actually that good. They didn't beat ANYBODY last year. Neither did the Vikings (other than beating the Packers). The NFC North had cakewalk schedules -- the AFC South and NFC West. There's a reason they went 0-3 in the playoffs.

Becton should be first priority

They couldn't even beat the vikings or lions last year so will see if they are better this year.

Love has to take a giant step for them
