I am not overly concerned about the DL or RG.  It's their plan at CB that isn't clear and has become concerning.

I am onboard with the comp pick game.  But is there a former Fangio NCB out there that they are waiting to sign in the middle of the night?

Already on the team, Nickerson.  Also have AJ Woods, who is an ex U Pitt CB in the Maddox mold.  Also possibly Castro-Fields as a back up OCB and this is only the start of the preseason.

How was Burks not going to get a chance to start here?

If the Eagles were "all in” like many here in the Blog want them to be, then Burks makes sense, but if they are looking for sustained excellence giving a young succession player like Trotter a chance to show what he can do in the first half of the season.  If he hasn’t shown that he can be a plus starter by Week Ten then they will adjust.

Its a trade off .., and they probably were up front with Burks about that.

I feel like it defense depth took some real Body blows today. Losing people to desperate teams overpaying.

Found CB2

Chase Young back to Saints. Another Edge off the board. Never thought he'd be a fit here though.

3/51 chance to earn 57. Eagles never would have paid that.

Chase Young back to Saints

Chase Young - It's a 3-year, $51M deal with a chance to get to $57M, source says. And back at the table at 28.

Saints lol

Wow, which bank did the Saints rob to pay Young?

We have Dean

I can’t imagine he is ready to go until October at the earliest. Probably won’t be 100% mentally until 2026.

I get what he means but that’s quite the reach. Ringo was on the team before Rodgers ever was.

Maybe safety #4

Body blows would be vital must have starters like Carter, Baun, Q, DeJean.

They lost 2 backups, a declining DE who everybody wanted to get rid of a year ago who played well in the playoffs, and a rotational DT who got an insane contract from the Pats. Last year most fans wanted to trade Sweat saying he was declining and injury prone, trade Rodgers because they have other corners and didn't even know who Burks is.

Now fans are acting like they're so vital.

I believe they are counting on Dean returning as the starter once healthy. They only need somebody to fill in until that time. It would be a good opportunity for Trotter to really gain some experience, though. Also, BVS could return before Dean and bolster the depth.

And he's a free agent in 2026

True. I think he just means there is a succession plan.

Screw sustainable IMO when they have a dominant team that can win again. Nothing is guaranteed down the line with Johnson getting older. Get another ring.

Maybe Fangio just didn't want him. Same with Rodgers.

Frustrated to see all this talent go out the door, but it would have been insane to have paid any of our guys what they just got paid.

Is what it is.

Comes down to roster spots…keeping a 30 y/o journeyman who had a good playoff run (terrible in other spot performances) unfortunately was not in the cards.  I expect them to draft a LB too then.  Bank on Dean coming back or hope that trotter can channel his inner dad and plug gaps and make tackles coming downhill with limited coverage responsibility (the role Dean was settled into).

Thats a pretty hefty contract for a player thats never done anything

It’s going to be a hefty contract on the back end…has to be completely backloaded.
