But Fangio wants what he wants and is very particular. He must be telling Howie fine let em walk I don't want them, and has ideas about which free agents he wants to bring in and which guys in the draft he wants to target.

We also saw some depth and even rookie players get bigger roles at the end of the season. With another offseason with Fangio, those guys will continue to grow. I'm not worried about it, especially only on day 1 of free agency. They will be signing some guys and then Howie has some draft ammo.

Add to this Fangio’s impact on the Draft in a very strong Defensive draft class.

We've had a lot of LBs recently pass through who weren't including the biggest signing at LB last year. I think it's more disappointment not taking into account him wanting to start that came out later. They will be fine. Give some the night, though. 

I wanted Burks back.  Good depth.  But the wild thing about this past season is after the bye week, everybody played well.  Some starters played exceptionally well, journeyman type players played well, castoffs played well.  Nobody hurt the team with poor play.  I can't name one guy who played that I thought of as a weak link.  Maybe Eliiot for a stretch.  Our depth was insane.  A unique circumstance.

Yep we had one of the best Championship teams in a while. Usually teams do win with weak links and injuries and without everyone peaking.  Our 2017 team was an example

For sure. One of the NFL’s best rosters in the past decade or so.

They lost 2 backups, a declining DE who everybody wanted to get rid of a year ago who played well in the playoffs, and a rotational DT who got an insane contract from the Pats. Last year most fans wanted to trade Sweat saying he was declining and injury prone, trade Rodgers because they have other corners and didn't even know who Burks is. 

Now fans are acting like they're so vital. 

 

I said our defensive DEPTH took a body blow. Which it did. We aren't as deep off the bench at this moment..

It sounds like it’s still up in the air if he’s even signing there

I took a look at the 2025 Comp Pick Cancellation Table on OverTheCap. $2.50 AAV was the lowest Qualifying UFA contract and $2.25 AAV was the highest non-Qualifying UFA contract.  If those numbers hold Burks will count as a 7th Round pick.

The Steelers don’t even have a QB so not sure they can laugh at anybody

It’s not lost on me that Brad Holmes bragged about picking the two best outside corners in the draft last year but had to pay 3-$48M for a FA corner this year.
