Why is Moore ahead of Williams?

For as bad the Jets bungled the Reddick situation, they are getting out of it easier than they should trading away a 2026 3rd but getting a 2025 4th

Only thing I could think of is playing time in their formulas push him ahead.

I mean, no chance he lasts to 32, but yeah… if he’s there at 32 we should absolutely take him.

Yeah - zero chance they pick a RB with the first pick.  If there was a number less than zero, it would be that.

If Jeanty was available at 32, which he won’t be, we would absolutely take him. The number would be 100% chance we take him.

20m/yr for fields is just so Jets…poor Glenn is screwed before he even steps on the field as HC.  Same with Moore after the Young contract.

…..they’d still go 9-8

I’d rather call Jerrah up and get a more than likely top 15 pick next year if he’s on the board.  Jeanty is a weird player to project, i think he’ll be a fine pro…but i think his cliff will come quick.  He’s not particularly elusive, so unless he’s MJD 2.0, I think he’ll break down quickly at his size.

No one is acting like that.  Not that I’ve seen.  Most were expecting the big names/big contract guys to go.  And most accept it.  But guys like Rodgers - who has shown more than capable of handling the #2 outside CB spot opposite of Q at 7.5 mil per year would have made sense.

And Burks shined late in the season and throughout the playoffs, played really well filling in for Dean - which is a question mark on when he returns/how he recovers etc. So when he signs for just over league minimum - yes, fans will question it.

I wanted both of them as known commodities at cheap prices.  Rodgers went at a bit more than I thought he would so no issue there but I don't see the logic in not bringing back Burks.  The price was right where I thought it would be and Burks would have given us good special teams play and solid backup play.  Given that Dean won't be ready we now have a hole to fill that is really unnecessary in my mind though there really is zero concern of course and  I'm not saying Trotter can't fill it but we don't know that yet.  Just seems like a simple miss to me given the amount of money involved.

It wasn't the money. He chose to leave because the Bengals told him he would have an opportunity to compete for a full time starting job.

Oh yeah?  Are you just guessing or do you have a link to something you can share?

Why get a top 15 pick next year when you can get a top 10, possibly top 5 prospect, this year?

Especially when we are desperate for a #2 RB and our entire offense is built around the run game?

Imagine prolonging Barkley’s prime. Imagine being able to handle him tearing his ACL with minimal drop off in production.

If a guy that good drops into your lap with the literal last pick in the draft, there is a straight forward way to get production out of him in a rotation, he provides critical injury insurance on your Super Bowl aspirations, and his timeline projects perfectly with when you move on from your current starter, you don’t get cute — you take him and laugh all the way to the bank.

If we drafted Jeanty with 32, we'd win every NFL beat writer's horse's ass pick of the 2025 NFL draft.

The idea you'd make someone the highest paid Tailback in NFL history then immediately draft a 1st round RB. The only way Howie talks about Jeanty is if Saquon breaks a leg on his summer vacation or he wants to trade out of 32.

Something to note about Burks, he played our second most ST snaps and he was pretty good at it.

Burks and Ringo were ST studs last year. Burks is now gone and Ringo is currently CB2. ST is going to need guys to step up.

Yep. Everyone was freaking out when he had to take over as a starter for Dean and after the dude plays decent for a few games people are acting like he's Urlacherz. He can EASILY be replaced with a one year vet minimum type of guy which is what he was last off-season.

Yeah maybe we can sign a veteran LB to come here and replace Burks....say, for 2 years, $5M, something like that.

This is important to consider but also looking back at Howie's comments regarding young guys replacing players. This makes me think Howie has his guys in the draft and he is going to make the moves needed to get them if he can. Contracts like Burks and Rodgers signed today are 100% affordable in the grand scheme of things, but rookie contracts are what will make it possible to sign Becton and extend the core of this team.

If we want the important players on this team to stick around for the long haul (Carter, DeJean, Mitchell, Smith etc.) then we are going to have to count on rookies balling out in their first 4 years.

I’d call it a win if Howie can somehow resign Becton to a decent deal. That would keep our Nr. 1 defensive priority (Baun IMO) and our Nr.1 offensive priority (Becton IMO) in the fold.
Keeping more high profile players wasn’t realistic, so this would be a solid job.

Gotta replace the depth pieces on the cheap and through the draft.

No, most beat writers would have the headline "Howie does it again!”

They’d be stupefied that somehow a consensus top 10 talent once again landed in Howie’s lap at 32, surpassing the value of getting Carter two years prior.

Maybe some TATERs would think they’re clever thinking we should trade that player (to the cowboys of all teams!), but no one with a clue would pass on that opportunity given our roster and offensive reliance on the run game.

You might have a point with Rodgers. Oren Burks is a dime a dozen depth LB in this league.

I think some of us (like me) are overrating Burks, but I also think he was better than a dime a dozen LB. You mentioned that he never had more than 46 tackles in a season. He had 50 tackles, 5 TFL, 1 sack and 4 FF from week 17 through the SB. Those numbers are better than a dime a dozen guy. The chances of him playing at that pace for a full 17 are low, but he was a great fit for this team. He also had tremendous ST value.

Year 2 of the Vic Fangio defense will show us if the scheme makes LB better.

Rap sheet:

The #Bengals continue to solidify their defense, as they are closing in on a deal for #Eagles LB Oren Burks, source says.

He gets a 2-year, $5M deal with an opportunity to start. In the playoffs, Burks stepped in for the injured Nakobe Dean and had 25 tackles, 3 TFLs, 1 sack, 2 QB hits and 1 PD.

Ouch.   That's the guy I really wanted to see come back as an insurance policy, especially with it being so cheap.   Oh well.  Gotta hope Howie can find more LB depth, or that Trotter Jr is ready to step in, because I'm pretty sure Dean won't be back for a while.

And the Steelers sign Tomlin to a lifetime contract.

I'm with you on this, however...

2 years- $5 million

-or-

4 years- $5.7 million (3rd round contract) , 4 years- $4.6 million (4th round contract) 4 years- $4.3 million (5th round contract)

Howie is riding a draft homerun hot streak and he's going to ride it out and bet on himself. He made it very clear that there were going to be young players on this team filling big roles.

-After the Pickett trade, the Eagles have 8 picks through 5 rounds this year (4 in the 5th). Howie could easily use those 5th round picks to move up and down the middle rounds like he always does.

-The Eagles currently have 8 picks in 2026 as well, including 2 3rd round picks. Assuming the comp pick formula is correct, the Eagles are on pace to have 11 picks in 2026. 1s, 2nd, 3 3rds, 2 4ths and then 5-7.

19 draft picks over the next 2 years is HUGE. No telling what Howie does during the draft either. Some team could be desperate for a 5th year option and give up a future 1st or 2nd to get 32.

Allen signs with the Vikes

Allen 3-60. It’s amazing teams are cutting guys to get out of contracts and new teams are handing them bigger contracts.

Also important to remember that FA hasn't even started yet. This whole 2-day tampering thing is just stupid. Start the league year on Monday and move on.

Howie 100% knows what he's doing. Having a press conference to announce Saquon's extension was brilliant. Shine the light on your star player before seeing mammoth contracts being signed by guys you are losing.

I wouldn't be surprised if at 4:00 tomorrow, when the actual league year starts, the Eagles announce a list of signings. They've done it before, no reason they wouldn't do it again.
