Defense got significantly worse. This is now an average Defense at best.

Still have Carter, Smith, Baun, Dejean, and Mitchell. 2 of them are all-pro. Mitchell very well could be on his way as well. Let’s calm down

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

A couple dominoes fall with this #Eagles trade: — C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s departure creates a vacancy at safety opposite Reed Blankenship. Sydney Brown might be the in-house candidate to replace him. Lewis Cine and Tristin McCollum are other options. — Kenyon Green’s arrival suggests the Eagles are unlikely to bring free agent Mekhi Becton back at right guard. — Howie Roseman continues to emphasize the trenches.

If Sydney Brown is the plan, and maybe it won't be, I gotta call arrogance on that one. I've seen zero from him to show he can be a starting safety in the NFL. If the plan this offseason is to truly hand starting duties over to all the young backups, then it's bound to fail in some areas. I just don't think Brown is very good and Green has flat out sucked to start his career.

Can someone please explain the Goedert contract to me?

It looks like he is due $15.5M in cash as an option bonus.  I am guessing the cap hit if we keep him ($12M) isn't much different if we trade him ($11M).  Is he difficult to trade because of the option bonus?  Wouldn't the other team need to renegotiate his deal just like we want to?  Thanks in advance.

I figure the Eagles asked for a restructure and Goedert asked for an extension and they challenged him to find out what that is worth because they disagree.  Staring game as the option bonus gets closer to being due.

I'm not a fan of the CJGJ trade but after last year I'm gonna put faith in Howie. Let's see how it plays out.

I think Howie is taking the "let's not try to bring all back again" approach a bit too far.

That said, CJGJ was fine, not great.  Stout and Vic are respected voices in the FO.  Need to see the finished product.

Blankenship and Davis as well

Jeff McLane is anti this?

We're truly back.

Why? Initial reaction is the success has gone to Howie’s head again and he’s making a mess of this.

So we lose a tough coverage S AND our starting RG all in one trade? Geezus

CJ seems pretty even keel about it

My guess is he went to Howie after the season and demanded a monster raise. May hear about a big extension from Houston soon

I have got no clue on this trade. I was with Howie on letting guys walk yesterday, though I might have kept Burks at that cost. But trading CJGJ for Green, who has been legitimately terrible, makes no sense to me. Maybe Stout loved him when they scouted him, but I can't believe you needed to give up CJGJ for him. A day 3 pick should have done it. We just created a real hole in the secondary.

We moved up a round in next years draft to trade CJGJ anything we get out of Green is a bonus

This.  We were dominant after the bye last season.  We can be less talented on defense and still be top five.

It’s my understanding that the Eagles are doing everything they can to make money available to keep the core of their team together and they want to see what third round draft pick Sydney Brown can do at safety. He will compete at safety with Cj Gardner Johnson traded. They are building depth on the Oline and Mekhi Becton is still on the table for the line. Howie Roseman had said it will be a different offseason and they need to play younger players.

Sydney Brown at safety cannot be the Fing plan here. He has not been good.

What are the cap savings on this trade? I'm sure Eagles will take those savings and extend Blankenship

Basically a push. 5m cap hit if we keep him, 5m dead by trade

Kenyon Green only played LG so far. I'm guessing they will try him at RG but jeez do they really hate Steen for whatever reason.

Brown is a back up, he's no where near CJGJ. Free agency and the draft (and not a day 3 guy) needs to be the answer. Losing Becton hurts my heart

For all the praise Stout gets it should be recalled that he backed himself to make a player of previous 1st round bust guard Chance Warmack and he didn't get near doing it.

If this was a financial move to make it more realistic keeping Carter & Smith, then I support the move. I’m going to get ignorantly use that as my way to cope with the trade

Brown is not f'n good, let just stop

Green was a monster in college with positional flexibility (C, G, and OT).   Doesn't hurt to have that on the roster.  Was supposedly a mauler in the run game in College so maybe Stout can unleash some of that fury.  Also, now wondering if Vic wants to get Simmons because if memory serves me right they had a really strong relationship.

Maybe they draft the S from Iowa
