Fwiw trades also don't factor into comp picks. Not that someone like Green would have cost much but with those high picks from Williams/Sweat we may see more trades in lieu of signings than we're used to.

This is why Howie is the only GM to win a Super Bowl with 2 different HC/QB combos and you will struggle to retire.

That last part wasn't needed just because someone didn't like what Howie did

Well, 6 players off the most dominant D we have seen in a SB is going to piss people off. Two were always gone. Patch them and try for one more with young guys. This is more than necessary.

So far:

Downgrade at S

Downgrade at DE

Downgrade at rotational DT

Uncertainty at starting CB

Downgrade at rotational CB

Downgrade at rotational LB

Expected downgrade at RG

Terrible offseason so far, the draft will help fill some of the holes, but not a complete solution.

Enjoy SB 59.

CJ did give a lot of TDs up in coverage that everyone complained about. But he was a leader and a gave us an edge.

Maybe they just decided one was more important than the other, but its a mistake imo - I don't rate brown as his replacement.

Next season definitely has 2023 vibes about it.  SB appearance and then a dismantling of the team. Lets hope they know what they're doing.

If we want to be honest, based off OTC the Texans also saved 2.8 mil by trading green. Cutting him was 4+ dead money and just 725k savings

I just learned today that Howie is not perfect. I'm devastated.

From that I was able to also learn that Joe Montana was an absolute failure in the 12 seasons he did not win the Super Bowl.

Wayne Gretzky? Total loser in 16 of 20 seasons.

MJ was a joke in 9 of 15 years and he could barely hit a baseball.

How can we possibly go on in the face of Howie being the best GM but not perfect?

Wonder if Vic had any say in this. Maybe Sydney Brown is ready to start

Sydney Brown can hardly control himself on special teams I can’t imagine him being relied on as a starter

Texans beat

LG Keyon Green needed a fresh start. He lost the confidence of the Texans brass and I think little in himself. But I think in Philly he could become their next Mekhi Becton. Green has talent. Just needs development. Philly has shown they can do that.

Whats Sean considine doing these days.

3 exciting whites 👍😁

It was a joke, lighten up.

Ah the price of winning a Super Bowl. Teams take your back bones, Kidney, liver, heart. The best teams find ways to put the next man up and continue win. Let’s see what Howie and the Eagles do now that this Defense has Been gutted.

Even aside from Stoutland, if Green is called upon to play snaps he'll be doing so between Pro Bowl-level tackle and center.  Iron sharpens iron .... or, in this case, the hope is that iron sharpens butter?

Hard to argue with that, but I’m not sure what the alternative was.

The CJGJ trade was a bit irritating, but I completely understand the rationale and some of the forces likely in play behind the scenes.

If this happened after they didn’t win the SB…first of all, all these guys would be less expensive.  But then, I’d cry foul.

But they got it done with this roster.  Crossed the finished line.  1. That means patience and trust have been earned.  2. It means we have to acknowledge that it’s that much harder to keep it together.

And again, we obviously aren’t championship starved.  So we can tolerate a bad offseason.  There’s no built up frustration here.  Even if Howie screws this up (and he has screwed it up before).

I think he tied himself up in knots after 2017 and even a bit after 2022 with bad contracts.  This is him keeping the roster intact by losing lots of 2nd tier building blocks so he’ll never lose a tier 1 guy.

Unless becton comes back, I think Tyler Steen like going into the off-season (like last year) as odds on favorite to be the starter. Becton just beat him out and took it. Green was brought in so Stoutland could work with him and try to maximize him. But I think it’s also to try to have somebody in competition with steen and push him.

  • Steen to RG (as many have thought)
  • Green is depth/Stoutland U project
  • Another safety will be brought in either FA or draft that Fangio has more hand in picking

Confident saying that while the defense can still be good next season and perhaps even very good if things break their way, the offense is going to need to be better than 13th in DVOA for them to get back to a Super Bowl next season. The defense legit dragged that offense all the way to the playoffs before it finally got some life in the NFCCG and Super Bowl. And even in both of those games, the offense benefited from a lot of turnovers and short fields.

Most of the money is going to the offense. They'll need to produce like a top 5 offense in 2025.

Kinda like the Jets when Beckton left. If anybody can get anything out of him, it’s Jeff Stoutland

No offense anybody who thought we were going to be better in 2025 was fooling themselves. That was a once in our lifetime roster with the depth we had. We knew this immediately when the Super Bowl ended. We knew they weren’t gonna be the same team coming back. We knew they were gonna get worse. you don’t lose guys like Josh sweat, Milton Williams, slay and potentially Becton and be better. Losing Isaiah Rodgers and burks isn’t gonna kill the Eagles. Especially if guys like Jeremiah Trotter jr and ringo step up and they draft some young guys

Again I’m assuming the eagle rationale is we were always gonna take a step back in 2025. Regardless of what we did, a team like that was no sustainable. So the odds were we were going to still be in competition for a Super Bowl, but probably not nearly as good. So why not if we’re taking a step back in 2025, set ourselves up much better in 2026 and beyond when doing so.

I don’t think they view CJGJ as core. I think they’ll pay Reed because they do view him that way

I think CJGJ played a huge role in our wins and his trashtalk and energy are big strengths of him but given that choice I'd still pick Reed over him without a second thought.
