What is this draft you speak of?

It means you need to seal around your windows better.

I'm not a fan of trading CJ, but they won the SB so I'm riding that high all next season, lol.  I don't really care if they don't run it back, but I at least thought they had a decent chance to prior to all these changes - now I have no belief in that happening.  I'll be pleasantly surprised if I'm proven wrong.

The one thing Green does offer, potentially, is some positional flexible depth.  Moving Steen to the starting lineup means we are losing that.   Keegan and Green can compete to be OL6.  We still have no swing OT depth guy though.  Unless they think Green can fit that role under Stoutland.  I don't see Green as a starter, unless Stout does some magic and Steen really craps himself.

I still believe there’s going to either be another move to push steen. I don’t think they’re just gonna hand steen the keys. He will be the favorite m. I think they believe with Stoutland that green can be a solid backup and maybe if stoutland works his magic can push Tyler Steen. Taking the chance on Green is less of the problem. The bigger problem to me is people are trying to play this off like Stoutland is gonna work his magic and get becton out of him. I think more realistically thought should be the idea that he is a competent back up in case someone goes down.

The official opening of the offseason hasn't come yet.  Plenty of moves yet to be made.

Being upset right now would be like complaining that you are still hungry at a 10 course meal while you are finishing up the first course.   There's a lot still to come.   It won't be 'big money' stuff, but there can absolutely be significant moves in the days, weeks, months ahead.

We like to focus on each individual move and dissect it... and we have the time to do so.  And while Howie had individual misses last year (and I was more than happy to point them out in the first 4 weeks of last season), his overall offseason was an absolute dynamite success and one of the best ever.   He brought in the OPOY, who I consider to be the DPOY, a DC to rebuild respectability to the defense, smashed the crap out of the draft, and added a few other pieces that were needed to fill in holes.   There's time and opportunity for things to shake out more evenly.

I wonder if this CJGJ move opens the door for Justin Simmons to come in, but they have a wink wink deal in place with him (given his previous history with Fangio) to just wait until later to sign to not mess with the comp pick formula.  I'm not certain that's what's going on... but given their history, Simmons may not be in a rush to sign.  And I'd rather have Simmons than CJGJ and I'd consider that an upgrade.  JMO.

I hope you are right, but at the same time, when a team has the right chemistry and talent to dominate to that degree, you want to keep it together. Even if the replacements are talented, changing pieces doesn't guarantee success. They were always losing Sweat and Williams. Filling two holes is easier than six. This reminds me of when they let both LB and CJ go two years ago, thinking they could just replace them.

It's great for Howie to think long-term, but at the same time, they operate in a two-year window. Johnson will be gone in two years, and Brown and SB will be over 30. Some moves have to be made, and some are self-inflicted. All we can do is watch and hope for the best. At the same time it's disappointing and fans will have emotions about it.

The fact that the Eagles let him walk away in free agency in 2023 and now have traded him, tells you they don’t believe he is part of their core or leadership going forward.

I don't like the song enough to copy it here, but here's this anyway:

Great only 3 years too late. Will be 32 in the playoffs and coming off of a terrible season. Ugh.

Well Commies just signed a safety to replace Chinn. But his statement doesn’t mean he’s high on the Eagles list. They passed on him a year ago.

Anyone watch Simmons or know what he looked like last year? I ask cause i didn’t watch a ton of Atlanta games and the ones i did they gave up like 40 to Carolina

Getting Green reminds me of when we tried to save Chance Warmack

Well that’s a separate point but all I’m saying is that maybe fans don’t change their minds. Maybe there’s just some fans that genuinely don’t feel the same way you do about different players. And when CJ leaves, for example, the people who aren’t unhappy with it may not be the same people that were happy he returned.

They're not taking a safety in round 1 especially considering two of our starting d-linemen just walked out the door.

I was happy he returned and happy we locked him in for a deal ending before he hit 30. It sucks we just created a new hole instead of figuring it out. We blew money on JB for 2 years, cashed out Huff who did nothing -  but won’t extend 27 years old CJGJ?! That’s sloppy and poor use of resources when you’re already looking to plug holes.

He wouldn’t sit. Our RBs got 26 rushes per game last season. And with a backup as good as Jeanty, you could lower Barkley’s wear and tear with minimal drop off.

If he’s still available with our pick (probably won’t be) Howie will be getting a bunch of phone calls - and he’ll take the highest bidder, imo.

3 hours ago, Iggles_Phan said:

The assumption in taking him that high would have to be that the goal wouldn't be to have him 'sit', but to use him in a RB by committee type situation.  I think the goal would be to get him roughly 10-15 touches a game, taking the load off Barkley, who's work load should be decreased to 15-20 touches a game.   That would enable the Eagles to remain a run heavy team, but without over taxing either one.  Sort of the Thunder and Lightning backfield the Eagles used back in the day with Watters and Garner when Gruden called it the "Jersey Shore" offense, rather than the West Coast offense.  I don't think the Eagles will do it, but if they did and went with that plan, I'd be on board with it.   I just think they can get a similar result from a later pick than Jeanty.

Exactly.  You don’t need to use your first round pick for that type of RB.  If he’s available, Howie will likely trade down for several more picks, imo.
