The team hasn't said they are starting. Beat writers and fans are assuming.

They may add more free agents, they may draft these positions.

Can't tell if the beat writers are reporting it but not really reporting it. "The Eagles like Ringo and Brown a lot and my sense is the Eagles want them to start next season unless someone beats them out in camp."

I'd call it not necessarily reporting, but an informed opinion based on talking to Eagles people. And it would align with Howie's words. Doesn't mean they can't draft people of course, but you only have so many premium picks and they badly need DL depth.

He gets lucky as hell sometimes. Huff was a massive mistake and he fell into it with Baun. The guy isn't infallible. He made the wrong moves after the last SB and LB and S were big issues.

Also, I made enough money from real estate investments to never have to work again, but cute.

My dad can beat up your dad.

Biggest benefactor of today is Quinyon Mitchell. He'll have about 10 picks now that CJGJ is gone and can't steal them. Right in time for a contract extension.

So after this morning's surprise, here's where we seem to stand on defense.

Edge -- Nolan Smith is really our only proven starter. I'm bullish on Hunt, and getting anything from Huff would be a bonus. We need to add a cheap vet here -- Leonard Floyd, Dante Fowler, Za'darious Smith, Joey Bosa, Azeez Ojulari, Demarcus Lawrence. One of those guys should be available on a cheap-ish deal. Ojulari feels like the most Howie type move. Then add in draft.

DT -- Davis, Carter and Ojomo are a nice starting point. I think we add one vet - Hargrave or Calais Campbell make sense. And then draft another player.

LB -- This really all depends on Dean's recovery. Not sure how I feel about Trotter being handed a starting job. Need to add someone. Kyzir White reunion?

S -- Brown and Cine are interesting but have proven nothing. I can't imagine we pay Justin Reid. Someone cheaper?

How much are the Eagles paying of it and how much are the Texans paying. Cause I saw when the Texans made the trade they saved something like $2 million by trading him as opposed to cutting him saving 725k (per OTC)

Eagles pay just the base salary. That's why Texans save some money and would have had to eat it if he was cut.

Hope Mailata has a green card. ICE is waiting.

Dumbarse predicted the Chiefs would win.  Hopefully someone throws it back at him.

John Clark and Dave Zangaro had basically the same tweet. It clearly came from the Eagles.

Just wow.  We had one of the best rosters in the last decade and now that it's a month cold people are complaining

Edge - They all get a lot. Z. Smith would be nice fit. Ojulari is Georgia but could cost comp pick

DT - Dre'Mont Jones seems like a fit but again $$$ are so high

LB - Yeah maybe White to compete.  Lot's of guys float out there

S - Justin Simmons as a cheap backstop

I think Kyzir White ends up with a better deal than Burks.

Who would you have preferred out of the two?

Seems like the glut of edge rushers on the market may keep prices down. One of those guys going to end up with a 1 year, $6mm deal.

Eric Kendricks?

At the same deal, White. But if White makes more I would have just went with Burks.

Around the Super Bowl, there was a blurb about Nakobe Dean's recovery and how he was seemingly ahead of schedule. Now, being ahead of schedule and making a full recovery are two separate things, but it's encouraging nonetheless.

Its better than the alternative.

The Dante Fowler special. 1-year contracts for 3-6 million

Can't wait to see Davis getting traded just to see people do a 180 on that and say it was a great trade after months of saying he's staying

I thought the Chiefs were broke? They just signed a CB from the Chargers.

I'd be pretty stunned, and very upset, if they traded Davis. Beyond his play on the field, I want him here until we lock up Carter given their relationship.

I think people on the EMB underrate Davis' impact.

I was a huge Sydney Brown fan when we drafted him. He was my favorite safety in that draft class. But after the knee injury and what he showed when he did play, I have lowered my expectations and think there’s a better chance he isn’t here past his initial contract. I hope I’m wrong cause I loved him coming out of Illinois. Maybe fangio gets him playing to where i thought he could be. I also wouldn’t be entirely surprised if we take a S in the middle rounds

Guys very similar to Davis are getting 13mil or so.  He has value.

It’s a salary dump. We picked up Green because the Texans wanted to offload him and Stoutland said "yeah sure”. Don’t be surprised if he doesn’t make it out of training camp

Dump for what? They save zero money this year.  OK, it rolls into next year for Carter and Jurgens. So they don't care about winning this year? You can't expect rookies to fill every hole and play like Q and Coop did last year. So your other options are league minimum vets or hoping someone becomes available for trade and the cost is a 5th round pick.

It seems like they're banking on Hunt, Ringo, ojomo, and trotter Jr to make huge leaps.
