I'd be pretty stunned, and very upset, if they traded Davis. Beyond his play on the field, I want him here until we lock up Carter given their relationship.

I think people on the EMB underrate Davis' impact.

His snap counts aren't high enough to warrant the high praise he gets and his relationship with Carter should hopefully mean nothing to Howie IMO. Don't want Howie taking on a contract just so it keeps another player happy

Again though JIMO

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

Guys very similar to Davis are getting 13mil or so.  He has value.

I'm a fan of picking up his 5th year option for ~12.9mm and then making a long term decision later.

Why do a lot of fans seem so down on Sydney Brown?

Howie might have a replacement from outside the team in mind but they could also have a lot of confidence in Brown. If he’s healthy maybe he’s good?

Lol, I would hope some player trolls him, but I don't want him throwing a tantrum during the visit. I never watch the visits, so hopefully it's a drama free one.

Eagles stupidly stiffed him in 2018. Luckily, he didn't hold a grudge there and invited them.

After Super Bowl 52, Howie doubled down on his strategy from 2017 -- signing older, outside free agents and counting on them to make a difference. It worked in 2017 as guys like Alshon, Blount, Darby (trade), Smith, Bradham, etc. all played well. But when he tried to run it back that way the next couple of years, basically every one of his attempts were a failure. At WR alone we missed with contracts for Alshon, Mike Wallace and DJax. He kept bringing back JP. Guys like Michael Bennett on defense.

It seems like after this championship he's going completely the other way -- we drafted these guys, and he's going to play them. Brown, Steen, Ojomo, Hunt, Trotter, etc. I think betting on youth is smarter than aging vets, but we need to bring in some cheap vets as competition. Hopefully that happens later in FA.

I’m starting to think some of these defensive moves are to prepare for the monster contract Jalen Carter is going to get in a couple of years.

With one of those RD5 picks, this guy...

Carter and Nolan will be extension eligible after this season, and Q and Coop after 2026. Now, the way we structure contracts will keep the cap hits low in the first couple years, but that's when guys like Jalen, AJ, Smitty will see their cap numbers jump up. Howie clearly moved CJGJ to take a small hit now and add future flexibility.

I'm confused by it as well. He's not been called upon to start yet and was a core STer. He had a few bonehead penalties, but I think his playing style is what this fan base eats up. Not sure why many are down on Kelee Ringo either.

if our 3rd and 4th round picks are lining up to start in year 3, that's ideal.

I actually like Ringo and Brown starting.  The only thing I don’t like about it is the sheer uncertainty of the transition and turnover in a year when the defense has so much change.

Otherwise…

1.  Fangio isn’t a quiet company man.  These moves happened because he likes Ringo and Brown.

2.  The secondary just got a lot faster and younger.

3. A SB title sweetens everything, but the CJGJ contract situation was about to be a thing.  For all the leader stuff we hear now, he wasn’t the most disciplined or emotionally controlled player in the world.  Slay specifically anointed Blankenship as the leader of the secondary.

4. Elite competitive windows are sustained through draft picks.  End of story.  Cap space is tight.  Sidney Brown and Ringo represent two third round picks (add Steen and that’s 3).  We can’t afford to have 3 third round picks in the prime of their rookie deals on the bench while 3 guys acquired through other means are playing in front of them on big plus market value contracts.  Face the music with your draft picks.  If they can play, we are golden.  And if we can’t draft well enough to keep it going, then this party was always going to stop in New Orleans at midnight anyway.

They have talented high draft picks at every position they’ve lost this week.  Gonna have to let them play.

This is a byproduct of a great drafting.  Now they have too many young guys to re-sign.  It's a great problem to have but it's still a problem. He's dealing with it while people are crying

Yup. It’s what everybody’s been saying why they made the move. I don’t think they wanted to trade cjgj in an ideal world. I think they realized with Nolan Smith, Jalen Carter, Cam Jurgens, reed Blankenship need new contracts soon. And Mitchell and Cooper dejean are not far behind. They are all going to need to be paid in the upcoming years so having as much money as possible for that time helps. I suspect hurts is going to get an extension at some point over the next couple years to help lower his number

So we gave him away for money, great!

I'm not down on either of them -- frankly, I was encouraged by what we saw out of Ringo in 2023 when Slay was out. But they are both unknowns, and I don't want to put all our eggs in those baskets. Bringing in cheap vets to compete, hoping the young guys win the job, makes sense to me. Like Dean beating out Devin White this year.

Just wow.  We had one of the best rosters in the last decade and now that it's a month cold people are complaining

Edge - They all get a lot. Z. Smith would be nice fit. Ojulari is Georgia but could cost comp pick

DT - Dre'Mont Jones seems like a fit but again $$$ are so high

LB - Yeah maybe White to compete.  Lot's of guys float out there

S - Justin Simmons as a cheap backstop

They just lost 4 people on defense who helped make that the best roster in the league with no obvious plan other than hoping Hunt, Ringo, Ojomo, and Brown step up. Yea sure maybe they have one surprise move but 4? You act like there's no reason to talk about it when they just lost a quarter of their starting defense

Coming into the offseason I was excited that I didn’t feel compelled to read about tier 2/3 free agent safeties, but Howie’s back on the horse. Jordan Whitehead and Blackmon from Indianapolis are interesting.

Kenyon Green was Dane Brugler's 2nd ranked guard in 2022. His 3rd ranked? Kinnard.

Pass rusher Anthony Nelson back to the #Bucs at two years and $10M with a max of $12M, per source.

Bo Wulf's guy doesn't get a lot. I was interested.

I will say -- bringing back Miles Sanders on a cheap deal makes way too much sense. Let him backup Saquon again.
