Leonard Floyd is 32 and has had over 8.5 sacks each of the last 5 years. Has been on 3 teams the last 3 years and just cut by the Niners. Why can't the guy get a steady contract with production like that? If he can still produce 8 sacks going on 33, I'm all for that kind of player rotating in. He had a 1-year $7 million with the Bills and then a 2-year $20 million with the Niners. Could he be had for the contract the Bills gave him 2 years ago?

He was apparently let go to make room for Joey Bosa.

Yes, we have lost players.  But what other team is clearly better than us now?

If you didn't know about the 2024 team and looked at the current state of the roster, wouldn't you be impressed?

A SB-winning QB, the best RB, top-5 WR duo, top-5 OL, a top-5 DT, ascending EDGE duo, All-Pro LB, great young CBs, the best DC and OL coach in the league.

We wouldn’t know about half the things listed if we didn’t know about the 2024 team.

He wasn't NFLrums is fake news. People need to stop following that and MLFootball. Both garbage accounts.

Berman said that the biggest fan of CJGJ in the Eagles building was Sirianni. That Sirianni absolutely loves him and strongly pushed for him to come back last year.

Not helpful.

Because Sirianni doesn't have to spend that much time with him

Some optimism on Green:

Appears his issues were more technique and football IQ than ability. People who studied his tape from the Texans say he has no idea what he's doing out there but on the plays he does, you see elite strength and quickness. If Stout can make him smart, cross your fingers he could be something. If I had to take a chance on a guard who's sucked I'd rather it be a talented guy who has no clue than a guy you see being pancaked and overpowered on film and just don't have the tools.

Luckily we have some tacticians on the line to help with technique and football IQ

Yes there is. There always is. Teams still have to get under the cap and new FAs will continue to be available until after the final roster cut downs.

A few random cuts, the point is the bulk of the free agents are already signed

Apparently Commanders and Chiefs might get in trouble for tampering with Ronnie Stanley

Hamlin signs back with the Bills.

Who values him more than us?

Howie’s job is to find out if there is any team that does.

This is where Howie has learned from 2018/2019.  And also from seeing how the Bucs destroyed themselves by doing the same thing he did - we're running it back.  A year rebuilding and reshaping is better than years rebuilding and reshaping.

Look at the cap hell the Chiefs are in and how they keep signing mid level OL and hope this one turns around.

Cash is king in all businesses.

They won 2 in a row. There is a balance and they seem to be over the line towards taking a step back with more to come like Dallas G. being traded. This is more like Jerry with Dallas last year and while they have bern lucky with picks stepping in that's not going to happen every time.

They could have held it together as much as possible for one more year vs having questions at CB, S, LB, DE, and soon TE.

Accounts like those made Twitter so much more frustrating as a sports news source.  Even if you don't follow them they get fed to your suggested section, even if you mark it as "not interested". Place has become way more click-bait heavy recently.

I must admit I thought there's a limit of 32 in any given year, but this is for the upcoming draft isn't it, this isn't what we're getting for this years free agency, that get's decided post Draft.

This may have already been posted, but the extra three picks are the ones with asterisks at the end of the 3rd Round, which are for minority hires into Head Coach or GM slots.  Each such pick goes to the team that lost the promoted person.

Yeah that's going to be a tough sell after they forgave Brady and Stafford's ski trip.

That link came up in a Google search.  So much for Artificial Intelligence. 🤫🤫🤫

FA hasn't even technically started and half the board is freaking out over every signing like that's the end of our moves.

Patience. Maybe wait until after the draft to start complaining about holes.

This is how FA is going to go for the Eagles over the next few seasons. Their FA is mostly going to be resigning their own guys and extensions. That's the path you need to take when you draft well. They are building and plugging through the draft, not FA.

Change is difficult for some people.

Change is inevitable in the NFL.

Understood.  The format of the table appeared to be different from OverTheCap’s.  I was wondering where it came from.

None of those safeties move the needle or make the team better. I’d rather roll the dice with Sydney Brown and see what he’s got. The starting safety will be acquired via trade…or Marcus Epps.

Ehhh. I’d say any assignment sound safety makes the team better.

With how many guys they have let walk in free agency I wonder if a trade back in the draft is most likely option for round 1 just to pick up multiple day 2 picks.

Gave up the most TDs for a safety, high missed tackle rate, not great in coverage, cap savings in 2026 and 2027, Brown and CJ are essentially the same kind of player, draft, draft, draft.

I hope the Eagles have Brian Dawkins hired/assigned to full time offseason work with Brown and Cine.  There couldn’t be a better mentor for them than Dawk.

I'm skeptical that if the Eagles didn't trade CJGJ that they couldn't afford to extend their guys. That keeping merely one player would totally derail everything. Gonna call fake news on that. I was wondering if I had to choose to keep Blankenship or CJGJ who would I choose. Reed is obviously younger, I think CJGJ is better.

Also one thing to keep in mind is that usually when the Eagles have a great season it's preceded by an active and regarded great offseason. 2017 - Howie crushed the offseason, Super Bowl. 2022 - Howie crushed the offseason was very active Eagles Super Bowl. 2024 - Howie a very active offseason Eagles Super Bowl. 2023 - Eagles lose both coordinators, lose a bunch of free agents, have the epic collapse.

That doesn't mean that will happen in 2025. The Eagles are obviously a lot more stacked and have better coaching(at least on defense, who knows with Patullo), but as Sirianni said you can only be great with the greatness of others. The bottom line is, while much of the stuff the Eagles are doing may be necessary, turning it over to many of the young guys is fine, but if they aren't as good as the Eagles hope, the team is simply not going to be near as good next season. Doesn't mean they can't be a contender, but if the young guys who are about to step in aren't as good as advertised it's going to be trouble.

I have to disagree there. CJGJ is more physically talented, yes, but not nearly as good at reading the play and reacting to it. JMHO.

This time, they've planned more year on year in the draft.  Drafting Ojomo is a good example of  taking a player not for now. They will have seen Ringo's development and perhaps know more than we do at where has progressed to.  The difference with the Cowboys is the Eagles roster has a wider depth to it without OMG glaring need.

With Dallas G, his relative injury proneness has shown that the O didn't massively miss a beat with him out, other than his blocking ability.  So perhaps, if you are looking to rebalance the cost of players, getting by with Calcaterra and perhaps a Rookie with good to great WRs, is seen as more desirable than paying Goedert all that.

Not that I want Goedert to leave. We will see how the roster looks in a months time vs today.
