I am hoping the contract looks like the Rashad Penny contract which is very easily thrown away. And hopefully if Dillon cant play, they dont just keep him around all season.

I like the idea of a big back to pound defenses and soften them for Barkley.

Makes me think Monangai could be a possibility. Hopefully Dillon is insurance in case Monangai gets snagged ahead of where they want to pick him.

We should add good RBs instead.

You guys think they lost 7 impact players? Really? The sky really is always falling around here. Free agency started like 3 hours ago

Yeah we lost some guys on defense and will probably not be a #1 defense again.  Big deal.  As long as we rank somewhere in the top 10-15 we'll be good.

Becton doesn't subtract from our comp picks right?

Despite the signing of Van Summeren, I am probably still interested in Jusczyk. My research tells me:

Quote

In 2024, he had 200 snaps in the backfield and 337 snaps everywhere else — 191 of those were as an inline tight end.

Which means he can play the TE2 role. And can do a lot of creative things in the offense. Imagine lining him up at TE, and motioning him in to a backfield with BVS for some dynamic 2 FB looks.

Id like that. But with what theyre paying Barkley, it seems like a 5th round or later guy is most likely.

If we re-sign him? No.

What about that other te who was on the ps is he still on the team? We could go 3 fb sets and Jalen and Barkley can run the wing t for first downs after they ban the tush push

Lequint Allen from Syracuse would be nice.

the double FB in an era where the FB is basically extinct would be pretty interesting.

But, Jusczyk would get on the field a bunch as he plays in line TE, slot WR, runs routes from the backfield, motions all over the place...

Have to imagine, as a FB he gets signed pretty cheap. And if you play him as a TE2 you get a lot of production out of a FB contract. By the way, he is also a better WR4 than Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith.

Dillon has always been better in theory than real life

Sweat

Williams

CJ

Slay

Rodgers

BG

Burks

All made impacts at key times helping them get the 2 seed and win a SB.

Sky falling? No

Step back at this point? Yeah.

Lot of picks that are great for the future if they hit on them, but it's a lot to expect another Q and Coop year 1 if they are going to repeat.

What FA are going to be Baun 2.0 still left? Simmons? He's 31 or 32. Most will be cheap trash pile guys or they would have kept their own.

Throw in probably losing MB and Dallas to the offensive side.

Lot of holes to fill or miracles to happen with every young guy stepping up.

Long-term I see the wisdom but as a fan I don't want to wait two years.

Yeah I don’t know what the rush was to sign a guy coming off ACL but maybe there wasn’t much guaranteed money

TATE has always been obsessed with getting a "big back". Now he just need a "speed receiver" and we're cooking with gas.

For sure they will probably take a step back, but after the bye they were far and away the best defense in the league. They could take a step back and still be one of the best defenses in the league. It's not all bad. Howie will fill holes in FA like he always does leading up to the draft so there's no immediate needs. All the guys staying playing together for the second year in Vics defense are just going to gel even more. Nolan just kept getting better and better last year. Hunt started to come on and should just be that much better next year. Ojomo also started playing really well, Booker looked like he could take on more snaps. I trust this coaching staff and Howie's shown he can draft. I'm not concerned.

Is John Ross available?

Looking at the TDN top 100 big board as if it were our mock draft.

Pick 32- Donovan Ezeiruaku, Edge

Pick 64- Dorian Strong, CB

Pick 96- Antwuan Powell-Ryland, Edge

Thats actually quite a nice draft.

Not true of DeJean.

DeJean wasn’t a safety though.

I agree that he has the talent and skill to play the position, but that’s exactly what makes him so appealing as a slot cornerback.

It feels like the next freak out will come when Becton signs elsewhere for not that much money. We haven’t quite bottomed out yet

Yes.

If he's healthy you'd hope we at least reach out to his agent, but I'm guessing the Jets aren't cutting him because he's ready to go at his 2023 level.

The players union loves it.  They fought hard to get exactly what is happening

If the players salaries go up to the cap max, its like a 51/49 split of revenue for Owners.

Its closer to 50/50 if not 51/49 the other way with all these signing bonuses and salary conversions to bonus.

As long as you don't have a pandemic then the players make out well every year.

Running back controversy!!!!

Seriously though, a healthy Dillon could be interesting behind this line. He could also be cut this summer.

'We've done nothing but weaken the roster, Howie's high on his own farts, this f'ing sucks etc and so on'

Exactly, he's a bog standard vet pick up, if he's healthy and motivated he's well worth a cheap one year deal, if it's clear in training camp he's washed, they cut bait.
