God, I hope so. He stinks.

We agree there. I don't think McCollum is rosterable NFL player. He is terrible.

3 guys I'm wondering what the deal is are Becton, Samuel Jr and Ojulari.  It's hard to tell if their market isn't strong or if they'll be a huge announcement of salary from somewhere.

I would add Justin Simmons and Dremont Jones to that list.

Might want to get your eyes checked. 6'0 250 pound RB's who can average over 4 YPC, and are legit options as both receivers and pass blockers don't grow on trees. A healthy Dillon is a massive upgrade to Gainwell.

Lol. The average NFL carry goes for 4.4 yards. Dillon averages 4.1 in his career.

The thing with Dillon is that he complements Shipley.

Barkley, obviously, needs no complement.  He just needs rest.

When Barkley is getting a rest, Shipley is your slippery, agile, 3rd down type guy.  Dillon isn’t a slug, but he’s one cut and run downhill.

Yes because of one bad season at 3.4 which significantly lowered his career average. He will also be running behind the best OL he ever has. If he is healthy and plays like he did the first three seasons of his career he will probably get 6-8 touches per game and be very effective with them and also enable the team to cut back on Saquon's workload which is something they need to do.

Jones signed to the Titans today

As good Jalen Carter and Q are in this defense. I think Nolan Smith has the highest upside to be an Eagles legend.

I could see us not extending Q for 30+ million in a few years.

I could see issues arising with playing Jalen Carter max contract extensions every 2-3 years.

I feel like Nolan has the most potential to be affordable, effective, and a huge face of this defense until he retires. His style, his demeanor, his ethic. Fans love him.

BG started as an "undersized” fan complaint and turned into consistent staple. Similar vibes. Different player different personality, possible trajectory.

True, but the on-ramp for Green is likely to be much longer than it was for Becton.  Not quite as long as Mailata’s on-ramp … somewhere in between

Nolan's issue is the guy can't stay healthy and it's been an issue since college.

Fine. Take away that bad season. The previous two seasons he averaged a combined 4.2 yards per carry.

He’s a JAG. He might look better than that here because of our OL, but we could have done better IMO.

I’d say Smith is by far the biggest injury risk though.

Trading for Green may mean Becton is leaving via FA.  Stouland has another under-achiever to develop into performer.

I don’t think they have anything to do with each other as far as Becton returning. I think it has more to do with Steen and Keegan.

Steen was the backup and presumptive heir to the RG spot if Becton walks in free agency. And behind him there is literally no depth on the interior of the line with experience.

Keegan would have the inside track as the primary backup, but Green gives us talent and experience, even if that experience was awful.

The gambit is that Stoutland can convert the talent to higher level play, and then the experience kicks in to give us a useful backup.

I don’t have any data on this, but I would be curious about variance.

For instance, a RB with five rushes that go for 1, 2, 3, 1 and 14 is very different than a RB who goes for 3, 4, 5, 4 and 4. Both are averaging 4 yards per attempt, but their production is quite different.

There is a lot of value in consistency and predictability.

6037 actually means 6 feet 3 and 7/8 inches. The last digit is always 8ths of inches.

Calling AJ Dillon a JAG is a laughably bad take. His 6'0, 250 pound frame at the RB position along with his ability instantly makes him more than a JAG.

I would point out the high level numbers he put up in 2021 and 2022 (both as a runner and a receiver) in a split backfield but I don't feel like wasting my time since you would obviously rather be a stubborn fool and double down on your bad take.

1 year 600k gtd for Gainwell. Thats insane lol.

Of the available low cost free agent RBs, Dillon was the best option, IMO.  He’s a better pass-catching back than folks think.  Whether the Eagles will use him for that purpose is TBD.

Thanks.  Learn something every day.  This was one of today’s.

Edge choice in the Draft based on Tankathon’s ranking … who would you pick Donovan Ezeirauku from BC or Nic Scourton from TAMU?

Another either/or at pick #96 … Offensive Tackle Anthony Belton of NC State or Charles Grant of William & Mary?

You keep bringing up his size and his below average rushing production like I should be impressed. You think we’re going to use him much in the passing game?

The one thing I will give him is he has the frame to carry a bigger workload if Barkley misses time. Our OL should give him well-defined holes to negate some of of his issues (vision, change of direction).

Nolan, Hammond, Scourton, Jackson

Think Scourton will be the better pro.

Ezeirauku might have more pass rush moves in his arsenal at the moment, but Scourton has better size and bend on the edge that translates to success.
