Odd that his pass rush and run defense grades both put him in the 40s among edge players, but overall he is 150th. This gives me a glimmer of hope.

The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

Well with that context this may be it for now. Seems like they're more interested in the comp picks and not increasing salary due to some big contracts coming due with the young guys. FA acquisitions Monday after the draft don't count towards the comp pick formula so they still have then and trade options. They're clearly not major players in this market and after seeing what guys are getting I don't blame them.

Problem with that is so many teams have money to blow there aren't many good ones left. Fingers crossed though.

Actually, Uche was a healthy scratch for 7 of the Chiefs last 8 games. The only game he played was the one Wentz started in Week 18. So he's somehow worse than Huff.

An optimist might say that Uche, like Huff, was a horrible scheme fit.

So they traded for him and then barely played him? Wonder if maybe he couldn't pick up the scheme?

Uche is nothing but a flyer. Hope he’s paid that way. Don’t like it if that’s the move at DE.

Let’s see the contract details - my guess is he’s not even guaranteed a roster spot but as you say bit of a flier and some roster depth in the early part of the offseason.

Same time they both count. Honestly,  maybe they think he can replace Burks because I don't see it as an edge.

Would be interesting if they did actually try it. I don't know anything about Uche's athletic profile

I doubt what happened with Baun remotely happens again but if they want to try at a super low cost then who cares if it doesn’t preclude other moves

And that's why I suppose Howie gave us that warning and isn't playing the FA game much right now. He has his eyes on contracts for our young guys and getting those comp picks for some future trades. He's playing 3D chess because he knows he has some major money to dish out to his young stars. That's preferable to the FAs right now that really don't even seem all that special this year. I suspect he'll be trading up in this years draft as well.

He lasted 4 games playing a handful of snaps each time and then basically pulled the plug

Yes, and I asked to show me videos of him in coverage and you pointing out those two videos specifically for me to look at.

Here's an All-22 against Washington in 2023.  He made one mistake in coverage - allowing a TD.  He was targeted 5 times allowing 4 completions for around 40 yards  but only allowed a total of 6 yards after the catch.  He had several big stops against the run and cleaned up several "missed or half- tackles" while in coverage.

Keep in mind, he was a rookie - so he should get better with experience, good coaching, etc.

They know BG is retiring and needed to find a Michigan edge to replace him.

Went to see what Patriots fans said about him and basically they said he's a 3rd down pass rush specialist who could get a lot of pressure, but can't play early downs because he's awful against the run and that's why DCs didn't like playing him.

Sound familiar. Team likes giving Fangio Edge guys in free agency he'll hate.

Baun isn't the first low cost guy they hit on, just the best example of it.  2017 team was filled with those types.

FUN FACT

The Eagles now have TWO healthy DE inactives in Super Bowl 59!

They got Bryce Huff a buddy.

Still pales behind our collection of 2022 first round picks.

Yeah really does sound like same guy. Maybe one gets better but I concur

Another awful signing

Commanders off season so far:

$80+ million to begin FA

$32+ million remaining.

Key signings: Wagner back- 34 years old

Ertz- 34 years old

Tunsil- 30- and cost them 4 picks over the next two seasons

Kinlaw- 27 years old

Samuel- 29 years old

They have 5 draft picks in 2025- 1, 2, 4, ,6, 7

I don't think it's been a great offseason so far for them.

I seriously have no idea why every "analyst" thinks they have crushed it this offseason. Their big additions are all overrated and on the downside of their careers. Deebo is hot garbage at this point -- the 49ers used him up. He basically had one great year back in 2021 and has gotten progressively worse ever since. Tunsil is on the downside of his career and had more penalties than any other tackle in the NFL. Kinlaw is an average DT, but he sucks against the run and is a downgrade against the run. Meanwhile, Fowler's 10.5 stats are still on the FA market, and Ertz and Wagner are ancient.

When we had Hurts on a rookie deal, we added guys like AJ and Reddick -- difference makers in their primes. Washington is building the 2021 pro bowl roster. I'm thinking they regress hard in 2025.

Problem is as we discussed Vic doesn’t like that type of player

Zach has been hinting at Huff being gone going back to the last trade deadline. I think he knows something.

If you had to pick Ringo opppsite Mitchell or Brown at safety heading into week 1 who would you choose? I’d go Ringo 10/10 times I think.

Decades ago, while at school, I was in an old-school Rotisserie baseball league.  At the draft for our second season, the "unique" guy in our league brought the same baseball guide he had used the prior year.  We all gave him crap for being cheap and/or lazy.  Then one guy pointed out that in the old guide, all of the players were one year younger.
