The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

With the 32nd pick in 2025 NFL Draft the Eagles select Grey Zebel...  Your reaction would be?

If they're going OL I'd prefer Donovan Jackson. But overall not happy, there's sure to be defensive players I like a lot still on the board.

Cine had a catastrophic injury…

I agree, but that was also true down the stretch last year when he came off IR.  He did nothing in a rotational role.  The fact that they activated Graham over him just so they could give him a one-armed sentimental send off in the SB means they might just prefer to have him spend 2025 on IR than even play him.

Huff was really bad. In some ways that might be hopeful in that maybe Vic doesn’t hate that type of player so much as the individual.  Huff even when given the chance to purely rush the passer wasn’t beating his man. That’s not system or player type it’s just a guy not being good

I’d have preferred Kyle over a converted LB returning from an acl

But some fans will say "But we've made the playoffs for the last billion yearz" while waving a terrible towel.

Such a bad signing to make

Steelers are 8 years removed from their last NFL Playoff game victory.  That places them ahead of only:  Miami, LV, NYJets, Chicago, Arizona, Carolina, and Denver.   They haven't won a game since the 2016 AFC Divisional Round.   And they've lost 6 straight playoff games... that's tied for the longest active streak in the NFL (with the Dolphins).  And is tied for the 4th longest streak in NFL history.  (The longest streak is 9 from the Lions, from the 1991 season to the 2023 season).

Other then one of those 4th… which I think is projected if we lose becton which hasn’t happened that I’ve seen yes that’s correct.

Really hope Rosgers goes there.  Would love to see him on a loaded roster to finish out his career.

Sure.  But, you dig through the many layers hoping to find a diamond in the rough.  Patriots got lucky with Brady, too.  Eagles got lucky with Mailata.   Luck is the intersection of preparation and opportunity.

Of course, but the question is about the position of safety vis-à-vis Brown; if the Eagles were seriously concerned about who is going to be the starter, they’d be looking at guys much more likely to actually be a starter.

Only 1 fourth round comp pick as of now

Yes, but I'm not sure how "cigar" worthy it actually is.  It's just the additional 3rd for Reddick (which isn't a 2nd because of Reddick).  The rest are just projected comp picks for the free agents who signed elsewhere.

Howie fleecing the Saints and Colts for additional first round picks was better.

Were those the hilarious cartoons that made Dan Snyder look stupid or am I thinking of something else. There was a great cartoon with Hugh being the locker room ambassador.

Sorry, answering my own question.

That was bang who was a member there (and old school here as well).

No, old school extremeskins would go over the top over any FA signing and god forbid they got a few big names the board would collectively

Just checking in on the big picture.

On offense we have 8 players that are Pro Bowl+.  Hurts, Barkley, Brown, Smith, Mailata, Dickerson, Jurgens, and Johnson.  All except for Jurgens are signed through 2026.

On defense we have 4 players that should be Pro Bowl+.  Carter, Baun, Mitchell, and DeJean.  They also have another 5 proven players.  Smith, Davis, Ojomo, Dean, and Blankenship.

What other team has more talent?

There's still time for them to meet with those guys. Lots of pro days coming up in recent days.

Edit:  the priority at safety seems to have come to a head recently, as it seems as though CJGJ asked for a raise recently and the team decided to move him instead.   Reading the tea leaves of what he mentioned on his social media video.  He mentioned from his initial conversation to the trade being finalized was about 2 days apart.  So, all this started with him over the weekend.   Plenty of time for them to course correct and get after the college safeties.   We'll see what happens with all these upcoming pro days and how active they are in visiting the top safeties.

The Bryce Huff situation is just really odd to me.

I get that he has proven he can't be an every down player.

But if we use him like the Jets did, as a pass rush specialist, we would probably get between 7 and 10 sacks and 25 to 35 pressures out of him. So on the low end of his production, he would lead the team in both categories. All for a cap hit of $7.5 million.

If there was a free agent OLB/DE who could give us that kind of production for a cap hit of $7.5 million, we would all be calling it the free agent signing of the year. Instead, people are trying to become instant cap experts to try and figure out how to get rid of the guy.

Huff had one decent season the rest he did very little.. the eagles projected an upswing didn’t happen probably won’t.

4-5 seasons playing less then 14 gamesIMG_1840.thumb.jpeg.8606d55811bf78a209f6b377bd7c1015.jpeg

Both were on the 13th? Crazy what 2 players did to this team

Once again, Huff is basically untradeable. IF we could trade him before paying his 2025 option bonus, the dead money is $12.9mm. But you'd need a team willing to take on a guaranteed $16.75mm for Huff for 2025. There's no team that dumb, not even the Jets or Panthers. If we pay the $15.58mm, it adds to the dead money and becomes untenable. There's really no way to move him unless you want to do a mini-Osweiler -- trade Huff and a 3rd for a 5th. I don't see Howie doing that.

That was such a horrible contract by Howie

Huff was hurt last year with wrist and had surgery. Nolan Smith was injured the year before and was a different guy the following year. This guy should be fine in pass rushing role. Keep his job simple. Huff showed flashes, especially in the first Giants game. PFF overall grade was 68. Pressure rate in the top 40% of edge defenders. He gets an incomplete for last year overall.

I don’t think this is a good description of Huff’s play. First off, he got chipped at a much higher rate than any other Eagles rusher. He has a great get-off and OCs/OL coaches seemed to prioritize affecting that.

When Huff can line up wide in a 4 pt stance, explode out of his stance, and attack the OT at the top of his rush, he can win and it looks great. Handful of examples of that with the Eagles last year.

The problem is, that’s the only way he really wins. You chip him? He’s dead in the water. The DC makes him read? He can’t get off the ball as quickly. Now combine that with being a complete nothing as a run defender and dropper, and that’s Huff in 2024.

Put him with Schwartz and see what happens. He’ll "suddenly” morph back into 2023 Huff.

No comp pick for Slay? It’s only multi year deals?
