The issue with Milton Williams, and the reason to let someone else overpay him, is that it seems highly possible/likely that his success is due to playing next to Jalen Carter. And the best evidence o

His answer was swiftly "no" when  asked if he thought Becton would be back. He did think Goedert would be back but said he could go too.

What the hell does he know. He's just pissy Howie has two rings.

Goedert makes sense to be back. Vikas and I discussed it yesterday. It’s a contract thats really difficult to maneuver and trade. And teams have to want to give a 30 year old injury prone tight end an extension that he accepts. I tend to think there’s a better chance he’s back too.

becton situation is weird. Been radio silence so far. The longer this plays out the more i don’t think the market was as robust as everyone thought (maybe teams think they don’t have the ability to coach him up like stoutland or his injury past) or he really doesn’t want to leave.

Damn....good for him. Refreshing.

The Eagles had more dead cap last year than this year when the cap was lower. So not sure how this year is somehow more challenging.

This is really quite simple....they still have cap room even this year.  But the will need to extend Jurgens, they will have upcoming Blankenship, along with a massive extension to Carter with some additional large extensions with Smith, Mitchell, Dejean.  The lack of massive cap room was used to tie up Brown, Devonte, Hurts, Dickerson, Mailata and now Baun.

The Eagles as they stand today just won a Super Bowl, and while...they do not have the depth of team of last year, STILL HAVE the best roster in the NFL, the YOUNGEST roster in the NFL with the most players locked up.

There is a cost for that happening and that not having enough to just sigh everyone and their mother.  Williams hurts, would have loved to have been able to keep him.  But at the end of the day, is there honestly...and please be HONEST....is there a Free Agent out there that for the money they signed, you would have wanted on the Eagles and would that player be BETTER than what the Eagles currently have?

I'm looking at the players being signed, the money they are getting and going we're good!  We are going to be in the hunt for the Super Bowl the next 3 years.  We are going to reload with youth...we are going to extend ALL OF OUR KEY PLAYERS like Carter, Smith, Coop, Quinyon, etc......

Everyone really just needs to relax...chill the f out and watch teams overpay for honestly mediocre talent.

They have never paid a LB 17 million a year so that makes things different. They never had a Terrell Davis level greatest RB season in history back that they paid 20 million a year to before. They are a year closer to Hurts back end cap hit increases. The same for DeVonta and AJ. They completely struck out on a big contract to Huff and structured it that they can't get relief by cutting him.

They have also drafted so well that they have a bunch of players who are going to get paid soon.

They also won the SB. This changes everything. No one looks twice at Oren Burks if they lose the NFCCG. Rodgers probably gets lower offers and so on.

I wonder how much of that, if any, is guaranteed.  That's barely above the league minimum.  League minimum is $1.17M for him.

Janice Bowden: I hear baseball players make awfully good salaries nowadays.

Jake Taylor: Well it all depends on how good you are.

Janice Bowden: How good are you?

Jake Taylor: I make the league minimum.

His call, but no guarantee the Bills use that money better.

Could also take that money and donate it.

Isn't that what the star next to the thread name is for? Or are you talking about individual convos?

I know I’m late to this but… Jeez did they just overpay for BVS?

He was an ERFA, why do you think it was an overpay? It should be bare bones minimum

I think that's the just the inner GM in him saying you can't pay every guy on the offensive line money vs him actually knowing anything.

Joe Banner has no clue what the Eagles will do about anything. He's just a talking head trying to stay relevant. He's been criticizing Howie since he won his 2nd SB too.

They had $63.6 million in dead cap last year.  They currently have $55,611,930 in dead cap, but that doesn't include Slay ($9,441,483) and Bradberry ($3,095,000), so it will be higher at $68,148,413 plus any other cuts\trads (Goedert, Huff, etc).

Wasn’t it a 1 year deal at $10M? I’m sure that’s what I saw

The issue with the dead cap is they kept paying for it by borrowing from the future. With all the big extensions coming up they need to pay down some of that debt now or they’ll lose more guys

That was Dre’Mont Jones deal with Titans.

TE3. Boy they're dumpster diving pretty hardcore right now.

Harrison Bryant: TE2!
