I think talking about an overpay for Pickett or Dotson 7 sleeps after a blowout SB win is a focus on the negative.

Nah, we're all thrilled about the SB. For some, it's fun to discuss management tactics. None of it is being done in malice or blaming Howie for making mistakes.

Yeah, he's been dying on hills like this one for 20yrs now so no surprises there.

Thriving on hills. Many have tried.  No one has killed me yet.  On this one,  I wasnt even there.  Just answered a question that you asked. You're just trolling.

The Jalyx Hunt fine it ridiculous. How is that a violent gesture, firing an arrow into the sky.

Lets turn all the players into robots with no emotion - Yeah good one.

Ok then we're mixing topics lol

I was saying I didn't see complaints about Hurts after the NFCCG and SB games because he played great in those

Howie is going to get complaints now because the offseason is his time and he did make some bad moves like Huff

Trotter jr does an axe chop. Just saying that looks way more violent

My guess is that it was considered taunting because it was close to the Chiefs. I figure it's the same for using the football as a prop and why players now make sure no one is around when they spike the ball because doing it near the opposition is considering taunting now

I'll just ignore the ad nauseum discussions on Pickett & Dotson.  Any thoughts on the next QB coach?

Is Nussmeier officially gone?

Ok, let's try to end this one and put it to bed for good.

"Despite his several flaws Jalen Hurts is a good QB who has played great when it mattered the most."  Do you agree with that statement?

The thing is I’m pretty sure I’ve seen him do it before in the season and never heard of a fine

the only thing I can somewhat agree with is if they are fining for people doing the gun celebration it falls under the same thing.  But to me even the gun celebrations I see to me showcase more of a t-shirt launcher type of gun… it’s not like anyone is out there pointing guns at people and having them fall over.

I guess. We know the Huff move was bad and a small number of the others were underwhelming perhaps. Not sure what's gained from harping on them at this point as opposed to talking about FAs or draft prospects. But again people can do what they want

I would say you can hurt someone with an axe just as easy as with a bow

The bottom line is the Eagles don't use W3-WR5 for it to be a heavy investment. Even with this year having Saquon as the focus, the passing game distribution is relatively the same year in and year out.

Since Jalen Hurts has been QB, the Eagles use of any WR3-5 is extremely low. We beat to death that Jalen hasn't had the same OC for consecutive seasons but these stats are consistent with Hurts time here, but at some point I think we have to just live with the fact that Hurts isn't using WR3 or lower.

2024- WR not named AJ Brown or DeVonta Smith had 45 catches for 365 yards. Next leading WR had 19 catches (Dotson. They had 620 rushing attempts.

2023- WR not named AJ Brown or DeVonta Smith had 36 catches for 380 yards. Next leading WR had 10 catches (Zaccheaus). They had 510 rushing attempts.

2022- WR not named AJ Brown or DeVonta Smith had 48 catches for 504 yards. Next leading WR had 33 catches (Quez). They had 542 rushing attempts.

2021- WR not named DeVonta Smith and no AJ had 42 catches for 430 yards (Reagor, JJAW, Greg Ward combined with Reagor leading the way at 33). They had 552 rushing attempts.

Trading a 3rd round pick for a position that doesn't get used seems like a waste of valuable resources. They are either going to be a run heavy team or a feed AJ/DeVonta/TE team. Nothing wrong with that. It works. But don't use high picks on positions we know aren't going to be used.

This doesn't change your point, but Quez had 43-647-1 in 2021 as the WR2.

I would have been perfectly fine with bringing Quez back as the WR3 before last season. I agree with much of what you said in regard to the Eagles' use of a WR3 with Hurts. At the time of the Dotson trade, however, there wasn't a player that won the role in TC and Howie had a chance to bring in an upgrade with upside on a rookie contract. Does the production match the draft capital investment? So far it has not. But we still have another season to get returns from that. Dotson wasn't a one-year (or half -year) rental. He also has the versatility to play any WR role in our offense in the case of injury.

So, I don't believe we've seen a full return on the investment to date, but I do believe he was an underrated addition that did help us get to and win a super bowl.

Not yet but he interviewed yesterday and is considered the front runner.

Finding another vet would not be my preference.  If Pickett is traded I would prefer drafting a developmental QB like Kyle McCord from Syracuse … like McKee was taken two years ago

That's an option though it might be worth one more year of developing McKee and still have a cheap vet just in case. I'm ok either way and if they decide to keep Kenny I'll be ok with that as well.  My preference would be to elevate McKee to #2.

The Eagles love them some QBs.  I don't think they'll bring in an expensive backup at this point but everything else would be on the table.  They rarely go with 2.

I also believe he blocked pretty well and I saw him right behind Barkley on a couple of those long runs making sure no one had a chance to catch him.

The Eagles drafts got much better after Joe Douglas left. He really liked Barnett and Pumphrey...

Howie really liked Barnett too. He’s not drafting players in round 1 just because someone else loves him. He has to sign off. Once we get to round 4… yeah, that’s all Douglas and the scouting dept.

Only if you are imagine a person as the recipient as opposed to splitting a log.

But yeah... chopping wood is violent and if you do it wrong, you can really mess up your leg (if you swing a miss the log).

Well there was this one playoff game against the Bucs that didn't turn out well...

But I get what you're saying and I'd agree overall lol

Yes he did.  No one bats a 100% in this Business though.  The Huff signing was bad . I don't think it's anything that will set the franchise back in any way.

Quez's speed was great, but his hands...man I didn't trust him to make a big catch when it mattered most and I'd imagine Hurts didn't either. Quez makes that catch in SB57 and it might be a different outcome.

At the time of the Dotson trade, you're right, the Eagles had nothing at WR3. Campbell couldn't stay healthy so we all knew a move had to be made. I'm sure Washington knew that too and maybe they were more in the drivers seat of that trade instead of Howie.

I like Dotson, he was special at PSU. I think he can be a player. and his catch in the SB could be argued as the spark that got this team going (although I don't think they needed one). With a full offseason I'm sure he'll work with Hurts and more chemistry will be built. The Eagles WR1-WR3 is as good as it gets in the NFL. Let's just see WR3 get a few more looks.
