Pretty solid for being on a terrible defense.  Had better run grade than Rodgers. Howie is keeping this defense athletic and fast so far with the depth signings.

The giants did have a good front 4 I believe.

I actually don’t mind the signing. Hes a solid veteran backup and probably cheap. I believe he also has return skills

Yes, signed late with Giants last year for 1.75M. Probably similar numbers here.

Solid front 4. But overall ranked 24th in points allowed. I think he's close to Rodgers. A little worse on pass defense, but better on run defense. Pretty good value if it's just $2M range.

A description of Calcaterra’s blocking would be very similar … move (h-back) blocking.

Yeah.  I guess the difference here is Bryant has a more visible career history than Calcaterra. And perhaps is a quiet indication of why the FB position came into prominence towards the end of the season. An issue identifying a true blocking TE

I think it’s important to know how to play chess, but to be really good at is a waste of time.

As opposed to, say, golf, which is a waste of time and money.

On the surface, every one of these signings make perfect sense when considering we are dumpster diving to save money and comp picks.

Bryant is a huge improvement at TE3. Jackson is good enough to maybe squeeze a year out of if Ringo isn’t ready. Dillon is a capable replacement level back. Uche had one super productive season and has experience dropping into coverage and rushing the passer.

For a combined $8M, that’s not all that bad.

If you don’t play then why do you care? I'm sure that's why so many ex athletes love playing it though.

It's not cheap, but if you suck don't spend $4.58 a ball.

It could be worse Screenshot_20250313-175915.thumb.png.ad07faa36134c55e2131a8d89570f610.png

Of the depth/competition signings I think they may be willing to spend most at safety and Edge. Still hoping for another better Edge guy, don't want to put too much on the plates of Nolan Smith and Hunt as talented as they are. It's asking a lot of them to not only start, but take a major increase in snaps. That's basically upgrading their role two fold. And not to go into the draft vulnerable for an Edge. But safety because I'd expect of all the young guys stepping in they'd have the least confidence in Brown so they may fish in a little deeper end of the waters for safety depth. That might be where you're willing to see them chase a Simmons or Marcus Williams or Blackmon.

I don’t play golf but I respect the game. I respect chess as well, which W4S apparently does not. That was my only point and a blunt one at that.

That does make it hard on DBs.

What are you talking about?

Daily reminder:

Last March the Eagles signed:
    • OL Matt Hennessy, cut in August.
    • Huff: barely saw the field
    • Devin White, cut in October
    • CB Tyler Hall, placed on IR then released, now with Seattle
    • DT PJ Mustipher, cut in August

They signed Baun and everyone said "who???"
Everyone said we're screwed at corner. Then they drafted Q and DeJean, Rodgers looked good in practice and then half the fans said let's trade Rodgers because we are stacked at corner.

A lot can change with other free agents signed, the draft and August cuts.

LOL

Ah, missed that. Nothing wrong with chess.

Everyone has their thing.

Uche is not a good signing. If they are actually counting on him to be a starter or even the 3rd edge rusher we are fuct. If it's nothing more than a flyer and they make other moves it's fine.

Sometimes I think a lot of people here don't watch football other than Eagles game. Don't let the 230 pounds fool you, Harrison Bryant is a good blocking TE. I said that the Eagles will likely go "TE by committee" this season under the assumption that Goedert won't be back. They currently have 2/3's of said committee with GC as the receiving TE, Bryant as the blocking TE, and hopefully they can get that X factor guy by drafting someone in the 2nd-4th round range.

I loved Adore Jackson when the Eagles almost signed him a few years ago. I would be lying if I said I know how good or bad he has played in recent years. I do know that while I would have brought back Isaiah Rodgers I do think he has gotten overrated after leaving and there is a decent chance that Jackson isn't much of a downgrade. This is CLEARLY Kelee Ringo's job to lose though and I am fine with that.

Sydney Brown still sucks and they better get a legit safety.

Stay positive even if it's meagerly?

There is zero chance they are counting on him to be the starter. I would think it's the 2nd part of what you said (flyer).

If they go into the draft with Smith, Hunt, Uche, and Huff they will be in a position where they almost have to draft an edge rusher early in my opinion.

Safety is BY FAR the biggest need on this team. It's one thing to be optimistic about guys like Hunt, Ringo, Ojomo (who have shown flashes) and sprinkle in low to mid level signings and draft picks around them. Brown and McCollum suck though and they need to sign a legit starting safety.

I just said it was very important to learn; you want to spend a lot of time memorizing openings knock yourself out - they’re better games out there in my experience.

I sure hope so. I am fine with them signing Uche on the cheap to compete with Huff for a designated pass rusher spot/4th edge rusher. If they are even penciling him in for anything more than that it would be a terrible move.

That’s a bummer, probably had some more books in him.
