There is zero chance they are counting on him to be the starter. I would think it's the 2nd part of what you said (flyer).

We have Lewis Cine anyway

On the surface, every one of these signings make perfect sense when considering we are dumpster diving to save money and comp picks.

Bryant is a huge improvement at TE3. Jackson is good enough to maybe squeeze a year out of if Ringo isn’t ready. Dillon is a capable replacement level back. Uche had one super productive season and has experience dropping into coverage and rushing the passer.

For a combined $8M, that’s not all that bad.

It's Howie's MO, make sure you have a passable vet at every backup spot, then draft kids behind them that you don't have to rush into action, let their development dictate their usage.

I wonder how Adoree Jackson would like to transition to safety...

Good thing we won the Super Bowl because we are going to be screwed this season

I just said it was very important to learn; you want to spend a lot of time memorizing openings knock yourself out - they’re better games out there in my experience.

No different than memorizing a playbook.

In both cases, the play is the initial moves, then you have to rely on your wits to stay one step ahead of your competition.

You can do that without the memorization.

Side note: so happy we have a franchise QB and I don’t really care where people rank him. This is so much better than the years of gambling with Vick and Foles and Sanchez and Bradford hoping somebody stick for more than a season or two, while toiling in mediocrity the whole time. Steelers are basically us 10 years ago

Not a fan of Nolen?

Nolen is the pick when everyone is saying next year how could the rest of the league let him fall to the Eagles

I sure hope so. I am fine with them signing Uche on the cheap to compete with Huff for a designated pass rusher spot/4th edge rusher. If they are even penciling him in for anything more than that it would be a terrible move.

These external signings are pretty much not impressive, they are band-aids, reclamation projects for guys they previously saw something in when they were being drafted, or saw something on film, or they're the cheap veterans that are capable to compete for a roster spot and be backup to not have a real "hole" at the position until the draft. I don't think I've been excited or interested in any of them. So it's a hard sell this year. But I take the big picture that the last 4 drafts and some free agents like Baun and Barkley were the splashes to build a SB champion.

The replacements for the defensive free agents who left will be a combo of current roster guys stepping up and the draft mainly, with some of these signings potentially making up depth, or other free agent signings. They also have a lot of picks next year, which could even be used in trades for the 2025 draft in a trade up.

I'm holding out hope that the draft will get us quality starters to contribute this year, but we'll see.

I think adding another quality Edge is important for a couple reasons. Doesn't have to be a signing can be a trade. One, what if the board just doesn't fall your way in the draft? We've seen that before, where in each round, the graded guys for that round are all gone when you pick. You can't always guarantee getting a position you want in the draft. Two, even if they did draft one, there's no guarantee it's going to be like Mitchell and DeJean where they step in right away and are studs. And if not, for a team that loves to rotate guys, having Uche and Bryce Huff as your main rotational guys is gross. And a rotation will be extra important in 2025 because you don't want to burden Nolan and Hunt too much for guys that young.

I sincerely hope they don't go into draft weekend with just Hunt, Nolan, Uche, and Huff as their Edge guys.

Dallas players leave and immediately start talking sense.

Jackson got $2.5M. No word on guarantees or if this an "up to” situation.

I have a certain amount of OCD. If I took up golf, I think it would make me crazy.

Not in love with any of the signings. One or two may work out hopefully.  Definitely long shots

Things are really starting to thin out. These are probably some of the best options remaining for the Eagles

G - Mekhi Becton

WR/RS - Britian Covey, Elijah Moore, Devin Duvernay

DT - Calais Campbell

Edge - Azeez Ojulari, Darrell Taylor, Za'Darius Smith, Dante Fowler

LB - Isaiah Simmons

S - Justin Simmons, Julian Blackmon, Marcus Williams, Marcus Epps

Should be up to, would make no sense for him to get a raise from last season where he only got 1.5.

Not surprising that he signed for the most of the three guys today. I still think that is Ringo's job to lose but they could get by with Jackson for a year if they really have to.

Also, didn't Jackson play slot earlier in his career? If so that gives them yet another option if Ringo doesn't cut the mustard with moving Dejean outside and playing Jackson in the slot.

It makes us all crazy. Thats the challenge and fun. The constant pursuit…while drinking and gambling with my boys or hanging out withbthe kid

Damn....good for him. Refreshing.

Idk why more star players don't think this way. They already have generational wealth after one contract, what does $5M per year extra do for you? Even $10M? When you've already made $25-30M, and are in line to make $25-30M more, what's the point other than to say you were the highest paid?

You realize that they will protect the compensatory picks and not sign any FA for more than $2.5M.

Duvernay was fun to watch at Texas, would be a good Covey replacement as the 5th WR.

Would love to get Campbell and Smith for the DL but I think Howie is done there.

Think the rest of the depth is going to be filled by draft picks
